This is considered an entry level bass in the TRBX series. However this bass definitely stands above the rest in its price range. Even at this level this a a very nice feeling and sounding bass. One day i wanted a 4 string just something inexpensive to play at gigs. I tried many different basses at guitar at this price point and this is by far the cleanest sounding. The bass is clean deep and the high crisp as well. Other basses in this price range sound muddy and just cheap. this bass has very simple pick controls, not as versatile as more expensive basses obviously, but this is classic yamaha quality at an affordable price. I own other basses but this is one of my favs to play live or record. i would recommend this all day. ... show more

The build quality for a $400 instrument is pretty amazing. It's solid, fantastic to play, and sounds great. I did feel like the action was a touch high out of the box, but that was easily fixed. The finish was flawless, and the fretwork was as good as far more expensive basses I've played. I can't recommend this more if you're looking for a solid first bass, or if you're a gigging musician who needs something quality on a budget. ... show more

It did not last long ... it does give any out put no sound . I put new batteries . for the first 6 months it works fine , but it after that it started to cut off and finally stopped working .i do not recommend it
