Description

Don’t be fooled into thinking the Ibanez GSR Micro is a toy. It’s made to the same high standards of the other GIO series guitars. The GSRM20B features, small scale SR body, full sound pickups, the same construction, same materials, and same set-up and inspection as its full size counterparts. Its shorter 28. 6” scale makes it perfect for tour buses, space-restricted home studios, folks with smaller hands, as well as young rockers or beginners.

  • Totally stoked on this!
Color: Brown Sunburst Pattern: Bass Guitar
I wanted a "cheap", decent bass to add tracks to some songwriting projects, but I'm not a bassist and had no clue what to get. So I read up the reviews and after a lot of research I chose this one based mainly on it's scale length and price. I'm 5'6" and this fits me really well, especially the span between frets. It is head heavy when playing while sitting down, so when I lift my arm off the body to grab a drink or use the mouse, the head wants to drop down to the floor. The body is on the thin side so it can also tend to want to slip out from under my arm when I'm not playing. Neither are an issue when actively playing :-) I love the tuners on this cheap bass, they hold better than my $500 guitar. I love the fit and finish on this cheap bass, as good as some really expensive models I tried in the store. I love the sound (especially the bridge pickup) of this cheap bass, although I'm not a bass aficionado. I love the fact that this cheap bass is from a respected instrument brand, Ibanez makes some serious gear. I love the color of this cheap bass, a nice tobacco burst without any gloops, glops, or blotches. And, I love the price of this cheap bass. ... show more

  • Love this bass - 3/4 size, lightweight, and sounds great!
Color: Walnut Flat Pattern: Bass Guitar
Absolutely love this bass. I've owned and played upright basses, full size electric, ukulele bass, and acoustic-electric basses over about 50 years or so. By and far, the ukulele bass is the lightest and sounds most like my upright. But this Ibanez is relatively light (around 6 pounds), is easy to adjust action on if needed, and sounds wonderful. I used it when our band recorded their last CD. It will save your shoulder from those heavier full-sized electric basses :) It comes with round-wound strings. They sound very nice, but I may swap them out to half-round or flat wound strings, depending on the sound I want to get. Finish on the bass is very nice - not glossy, but is very uniform. Three knobs for the pickup system - top and bottom pickups, and tone control. The tone control could be a bit better, but this is not uncommon on many electric basses. Unfortunately, mine did not come with a bag, but I found one here that fit very well. Some traditional electric bass players may not be thrilled with the shorter neck, but if it saves me from shoulder pain, I'm all about that! ... show more

  • Great bass, small problems.
Color: Brown Sunburst Pattern: Bass Guitar
This is a great small scale bass. It came with it setup and intonated perfectly from Adorama. It has good tone and really plays well...I wanted a small scale because my disability makes for the reach on my full scale to be a bit tough at times. There are two minor issues, the sustain and the unfinished neck. This does not have the same sustain of a full scale bass. The E string is the worst with its sustain, and the A D G strings the sustain is much more acceptable. Also about the strings....you must purchase D'adario Half Wound, or any other brand of flat wound strings. The strings that come on the guitar buzz because of the scale of the guitar, it needs the flatter strings to not hit the fretboard. Just be aware that sustain will sound short on that string. (so wouldnt recommend for recordings or the such). Playing live and practice this guitar will shine! Also good choice for beginners ( the scale is the same as a regular electric guitar so can go back and forth from the bass to regular without change in fingering). Now the unfinished neck....well the problem is that, its unfinished. No poly clear coat lacquer on the back, and that is very very important over time to seal the guitars neck as humidity and moisture can make it warp. So I also had to poly the neck ( with Minwax Wipe on Poly, or Varathane Ultimate Polyurethane). Other than those two problems, this guitar is beautiful and fun to play! Worth purchasing if your looking for a small scale. (Picture of my Poly Job on neck included that is not how yours will come!) ... show more

  • Great short scale
Color: Root Beer Metallic Pattern: Bass Guitar
Got this for my best friend’s kids. They’re around 8 years old and can reach all the frets easily. What surprised me is that when I tried it out, I really liked rocking the short scale a little more than I’m comfortable admitting, lol. It’s a real bass, and for $200 it sounds decent. While it is playable right out of the box, it could use a setup. I saw no real flaws with this bass. Will be picking up the Ibanez short scale guitar for them eventually. ... show more

  • excellent quality
Color: Walnut Flat Pattern: Bass Guitar
had an amp and needed to complete my setup, didn't have a lot of money. Played Ibanez many years ago and took an educated guess on quality. My choice paid off nicely after reading multiple reviews in favor of the GIO / Mikro ...... great for the money and it looks cool too !!! My package arrived the next day without paying next day shipping, got lucky. ... show more

  • Playable out of the box!
Color: Brown Sunburst Pattern: Bass Guitar
I went from a Gretch jet bass at over 12 pounds to this one at 6 1/2 pounds, my back is so much happier! Very playable base right out of the box! Just like so many have said. And like others, I put on Labella flatwound bass strings, light set 105 to 45. On this bass flat wound strings feels like you’re hardly having to fret the string at all! Sounds deep and rich. I’ve been using hundred percent of the P bass pick up and about 50% of the jazz pick up and love the tone with the tone knob being at about 60% up. Running it through my Eden WTDI direct box into an SWR bass amp and it sounds as thick as I would ever want to go. A great little bass for the money for sure! ... show more

  • Surprisingly high quality for the price, and incredibly fun.
Color: Walnut Flat Pattern: Bass Guitar
The small size and light weight make this an incredibly easy and fun bass to play. Factory setup had the intonation a bit off, but that's very easy to fix - my tuning pegs also needed a bit of tightening, but again, that's an easy fix. My only complaint would be that you can't get the action too low, as due to the small size: the strings are a bit looser, which makes buzzing a bit more of an issue. But, the loose feeling of the strings contribute to its playability and make tapping still doable even without a super low action. The feel of the strings is actually actually my favorite part of this bass - all of my friends who tried it out said the same thing, it's just kind of addictive to play! I couldn't give this anything other than 5 stars, especially for the price. Definitely a good buy ... show more
