  • Excellent System
Style: 600I Size: PA System
I bought this product for solo guitar/vocal performances and DJing high school and private events. I also use them as stage monitors with a larger system I own. It works fabulously in all of these applications. The sound quality is terrific, loud and clear, they are extremely versatile in all of these applications and others. I combine them with a powered sub (the mixer crosses the speakers over automatically when you plug a 1/4" jack into the sub out)and can DJ small-to-medium events and it makes plenty of high-quality sound. The only bad thing I can say is that the one time I used feedback suppression it would chirp, so I just turned that off. I never looked into why it was doing that, so it may not be a flaw. Bottom line, these are an excellent investment and can be used in a variety of settings. ... show more

  • Great, Dependable System.
Style: 600I Size: PA System
I have several years of experience with the prior generation of this product, the 600. Played my first several performances with it, and I'm an older guy who appreciates simplicity. When our band got serious, so did I, so I bought the 600i. Selling points: 1. If its good enough qualtiy for Skips Music, the premier, local perveyor of show business stages and systems here in Sacramento, to rent out for years without coplaint, you know its a work horse. 2. Its in demand with a very consistant resale market. You won't find many for sale on e-bay or Craig's list. 3. Very easy to use. Play your i-pod through it while its recharging with the new hdmi plug in this latest generation. 4. Great compromise between a larger and heavier PA and one that still feels solid in weight and size with plenty of sound for a smaller sized venue. I'd buy it again in a minute. ... show more

  • Jury's Still Out
Style: 600I Size: PA System
Update: I have awful trouble patching in an iphone or ipad via LINE & Bluetooth. I must need preamps. I really didn't think I should. But I think I'm going to. Both connections will work for a little bit & then crap out. Bluetooth is unreliable as it is. *The technology is not as reliable as WiFi. I have an iphone 5 that I send to the StagePas rca/line. The cables always fail in the middle of Dee Jaying an event. I can't use it as it is. But I like the StagePas still. Currently I'm using it in my guitar playing son's room. He will feed a guitar backing track through one channel as he plays guitar. I gave him a nice mic, mic stand, mic stand table too. So far, he isn't singing. But he isn't burning out rca cords. This is why I think I'm only burning through them because my heavy use requires a preamp. I don't know. I'm not an engineer. I have many FCC licenses though. Original: I used this to dee jay a party and was very unimpressed. I haven't had the time to figure out the issue and see if I can solve it. I used an rca cord to connect to an iPhone and ran a playlist inside my house. I'm not sure if my rca cord (brand new audio cord) had an issue or if it was the StagePas. But I had to run the channel and the master pots wide opento get decent volume. Yikes! This was in my house. I couldn't imagine doing this in a gym or cafeteria. It was loud, but barely. I expected that a person at anytime might hear a song they like and ask me to turn it up. I ended up turning it off. I will post an update to my review, once I dig into it. Perhaps I need a preamp. Idk. I was under the impression this should work well. ... show more

  • Great system! Very practical/sounds good
Style: 600I Size: PA System
Great for smaller acts. We gig several times a month and used a Mackie 808s w/ speakers. Honestly, we are more pleased with this set up. Quality of sound is in the same arena as Mackie and a heck of a lot easier to transport and way lighter. The only thing is the quality of plastic around the speakers. Scratches easily and doesn't seem like they could take a hard drop like the Mackie's could. We use our Yamaha for 2 vocals, guitar and cello. The USB for iPhone use and the effects are good and useful. I recommend especially for venues of 150 seats or less. Best in class by far. ... show more

  • Plastic, Plastic, Plastic.
Style: 600I Size: PA System
I was looking for another PA system having sold my StagePAS 500 a couple of years ago during a relocation. I figured I'd get another StagePAS as I had good experiences with the previous and it looks like Yamaha added some nice features that surely would make a good PA even better. Wrong! Yamaha changed things, alright, but not in good way. With the exception of the 1/4" input jacks on some of the channels, there isn't any durable metal component anywhere. Everything on this new version of the StagePAS is plastic, I mean EVERYTHING! The previous version's mixer was housed in a durable metal case with metal bars on the front side to prevent damage to the knobs when packing into a car and back panels locked in with screws. I toss those speakers in my car, onto carts, stages for years with no damage. I could not do the same here here. In fact, I used this over the weekend for one small gig and kept it in the original box because I didn't want to break anything. Some specifics: the channel knobs feel cheap and wiggle on the pot, the mixer case is plastic, the back panels lock in with plastic mechanisms, the speakers lock into a speaker stand with a plastic pressure clip, the 1/4" input jacks for the speakers are even plastic (and weirdly moved to the lower left of the cabinet and inset, so you cannot cable manage the speaker cable down the center of the speaker stand! WTH?), the XLR jacks (two are multi-purpose) are plastic. And by "plastic", I'm not referring to heavy duty, industrial plastic used on standard PA systems and mixer boards, but that cheap kind used on plastic utensils and appliances. Fine for those things, but not a PA system that you're hauling gig to gig, jostling around with other gear. If you gig a lot or busk or plan on hauling this around from practice to practice, I find it hard to believe that some piece on the mixer (which is exposed) would NOT break. On the previous version, channels 1-2 had a switchable compressor for vocals. While not high-end, it was useful for smoothing out those channels for vocalists. On this version, they removed that handy feature completely. Again, WTH? Unless you're using this for a rehearsal PA where it would not be moved around, I would not recommend buying this system for a working, gigging band or musician. It's cheaply made and there are much better, durable, solid all-in-one PA systems on the market at this price point. I would recommend finding a used StagePAS before they went all "The Graduate" on this. I didn't give this 1 star because it does have 2 features that were actual improvements over the previous version. A master "tone" knob to EQ shape when using for voice or music. This adds extra bass for music which is decent. And it includes a 1/8" jack (actually metal!!) on one of the channels for connect an iPod or iPhone which is okay as well, though it's just as easy to use an adapter cable. Overall, disappointing. Yamaha took a durable, reliable, simple, great sounding PA system at a working-musician price point and made into a sad, cheaper version of itself. Not recommended! Fortunately, Amazon offers a great return option and I can return and invest in something more real-world and working musician-friendly. ... show more

  • Five Stars Five Stars
Style: 600I Size: PA System
We use this once a week for a jam band and have as many as 12 player/vocalists every time. I use it for my keys and whatever mics we need, sometimes up to 5 or more mics. I got four female XLR to 1/4" patch cables (3') in case I have more mics than the 4 mic inputs it comes with and it does great. We set up the speakers behind the group and the anti-feedback feature is so good we never hear any. We have audience over 80 people at times and this rig fills up the whole place with great sound. This 600i PA, Carvin powered stage monitor, speaker stands and mic stands, my keyboard and a sack of wires easily fit in the back seat of my pickup. Easy to load and unload for a 73 year old. That is extremely cool. In the old days I used to completely fill up a van with a lot of heavy stuff. This is great equipment and will work for you. ... show more

  • Power + Lightweight
I got tired of carting around a 50 pound PA and 50 pound speakers for gigs. I also got tired of that old PA taking up all the room on my truck bed. I started looking around for something with plenty of power for outdoor gigs but without the weight or bulk. This system is the perfect replacement! It is small, light weight, but it sure packs a punch! I just did an outdoor gig with it and with the volume only turned up about 1/4 way it was plenty. I had my back up singers mic'd up too, and they were also loud and clear. I looked around at the guitar stores for this system. They charge a lot more for it and it comes with nothing else (like speaker stands) unless you pay extra. I'm so glad I found it on Amazon! It came with everything I need to gig....and for a lot less money!!!! ... show more
