I just converted my YAMAHA CS-3 with the CH-755 ($59.99) to make it into a more functional but lightweight boom stand. It works great mixing and matching these parts. I’m using as much of the light weight aluminum CS-3 as possible to keep it light. The original CS-3 stand weighs just 3 lbs. With addition of this heavier hardware (2 sections) it’s now 4.6 lbs and is about 3” longer when fully collapsed. The boom arm was the top thin aluminum section of the CS-3 and the felt washer is at about 54” of the ground. I like this hack. The change in brushed aluminum to polished steel doesn’t bother me. I’m retiring my heavy boom stands!! ... show more

    • Simple, sturdy, brainless and pretty.
I've used Ludwig, Tama, Pearl, DW, Whoknowswhat, and Pearl. Each has its pros and cons, but one aspect of Yamaha, is that it has a very pretty finish I know as a Florentine. The arm is simple, sturdy, balanced. You will need the Yamaha 3 hole mount, an arm clamp/bracket or the rack clamp used in the DTX electric set. You won't need the plastic collar insert on the lower priced mount. The mini boom arm has a small position counterbracket to set and forget for quick set up. The small size has all the same feature but...Well..Smaller. I use the medium on my DTX and the small on my acoustic bass drum tri-mount. The product is great quality, however it doesn't come with legs which makes it challenging to utilize!

Save your DW money for a kick pedal and HH but for cymbal stands, these are awesome! Heavy, sturdy, fully adjustable, just great. Highly recommended.
