The 4c is a great mouth piece for a beginner. I just moved up to a 5c every a year of using the 4c. Do be careful as to not to drop these on a hard surface as they will break.

We love the Yamaha 4C mouthpieces! IMO - not recommended for the beginner. However, when ready to move on to a better sound and more flexibility - the 4C is great! I bought them for my sons' Alto Saxophone, Tenor and Bari! We also purchase one for the Clarinet!

    • It's the beginner mouthpeice
It will train your armature properly and help you develop skills. Start with this mouthpeice in your practice regimen and work your way up to a wider opening. A #4 favors a 2 or 2.5 but a 1.5 is suitable for beginners.

    • The best mouthpiece for a beginner.
I tried the mouthpiece that came with my new sax and a couple of others from friends. Then purchased a Yamaha 4C, and it worked perfectly. I recommend it to any beginning saxophonist.
