  • Nice rod holder!
Model: SG_B078PT2TF2_US
Sturdy rod holder for either an open face reel, or bait caster. Works well and as intended.

  • Security collar too skinny
Model: Desert Sand (Professional)
The media could not be loaded. Construction is sturdy. Just a little play at the base. Does not play well with some Eva grips. They have to snap down in there with force. I don't want to over extend myself or rip the foam through trying to free a rod with a fish on. I'm ditching the security collar and grinding the channel wider to accept my Mad Kat rods. ... show more

  • Solid 4*
Model: SG_B078PT2TF2_US
Ok so after I using this, I have noticed a few things. But dont let that deture you the are quintessentially the best thing made for yaks/jhonboats. That out of the way start with the ugly. Not the most stable base be sure to set the tension on your reels lower if drift fishing (I guess that is why they came out with the double base. Often does not clamp down right on the full lock part (remedy take it off every few outings and fully rinse/clean dry and shoot some wd40/protective coating in bottom). The 2 knobs for adjusting angles feel sketchy to do on the water (the loaded springs feel like of you over turn it you will lose everything.) But aside from the getting to know what you are working with part. These are exceptional love the versatility in adjustments they also keep your rods a little higher than others which is great in rough salt water. The amount of reels you can fit on these is astounding. The design makes me know my rods are going nowhere when properly set. Over all I will be ordering 2 more hopefully I can get a small discount (hint hint yakattack). ... show more

  • Works good
Model: SG_B078PT2TF2_US
I like that you can adjust this holder to fit where you want your pole. The only issue I had was taking my fishing pole out of the holder, the top where it opens to get your pole out is a bit small. If you don't have your hook/lure secured, the "pop" (I don't know how else to describe it) when your pole comes out will end up wrapping your line around the top of your pole. Not a big deal if you always secure your hook. Other than that it works as described. ... show more

  • Heavy duty construction
Model: SG_B078PT2TF2_US
I purchase a couple to place in the tracks behind my seat. Very solid construction. I use them in a straight up position when I stand and fish so I can quickly and quietly change to different rods. They are also great for trolling to the side at an angle position away from the kayak. The rods lock in so they aren't going anywhere. I thought they were a bit pricey when I ordered them but when I got them I can see that they are quality and heavy duty construction. It's nice that I can remove the holder and the base that connects to the track stays in place. I also like that you can reposition on the base with out taking them completely off. They go on the base fast and easy. These rod holders are perfect for my needs. ... show more

  • Expensive, but extra range & security are good for fly rods
Model: SG_B078PT2TF2_US
This is pricey, but is better than the competition. I bought it for a 10' Hobie Kayak and it's narrow, so the ability to extend the rods out and away from the kayak is useful. It's not a long reach, but enough to get the reels out of the working area. The other nice thing is that the elevation is adjusted in smaller incremements than the Scotty rod holders and it's spring loaded so you can keep them just loose enough to move them if you want to. The indents are also such that you can lay a fly reel over on its side and it will keep it from slipping forward if a fish grabs it whereas the Scotty and other brands I've tried won't. The only things I don't like are that the front opening isn't wide enough. A fat fly reel cork won't easily slide through it so I actually have to either force it through or end up bringing the rod backwards so the narrowest end of the cork comes out. That's not necessarily a deal killer as that also adds a level of protection against losing your rod. The other thing is that the complicated mechanism to release the lock sometimes sticks and it's trickier than I'd like to get it to spin and then reseat. I've also had troubles getting it off. I do feel like I'm not going to accidentally lose it, but the mechanism still needs improvement so that it's smooth. I often times squeeze it to turn it and it won't turn until I fiddle with it more, and when I squeeze the lever underneath to open the mechanism to remove it, it won't come off until I fiddle with it. It's nice you can theoretically do it one-handed whereas the Scotty needs one hand to twist, the other hand to lift & turn. I now wish I could return my Scotty rod holder and pay the difference for two of these YakAttacks. ... show more
