One design flaw is that the base is too small and if you lean forward the stool will tilt a bit. We have other stools with similarly styled bases and those have a base with a larger diameter. I purchased these for my new home wasn't sure if there were going to match my color scheme but they were great matched my kitchen cabinets perfectly. Only thing that almost keep me from ordering was the shipping cost but I had a large order and just gave up cause I wanted these barstools.
