  • Easy Assembly and Sturdy
Color: Natural Wood Item Package Quantity: 2
I was hesitant to order this knowing I was not going to have any help putting it together. I got 2 and was pleasantly surprised. It took me 45 minutes on the first one and 30 on the second. I'm very satisfied with the look and sturdiness. My plants are growing and I'm very pleased. I'm 64 and if I can do this anyone can. Great product, great price! ... show more

  • Great Raised Planter for the price, if you add a little engineering to final product
Color: Natural Wood Item Package Quantity: 1
I bought these raised planters to grow vegetables, etc. I wanted them near the house, and raised up to limit having to kneel down to manage plantings. I noticed, after assembling the first one, that even with tightening all screws, it felt a little unsteady (before adding any soil, etc). I decided to beef up the planters by doing the following: 1) Add a waterproofing sealant to the inside walls. 2) Paint the inside and outside and underside with leftover Tex-Cote exterior elastomeric paint to reduce weathering and water damage over time. 3) I added 2 "L" brackets to each leg to mount each leg to the side walls (long and short sides) to add extra strength. 4) I added weed control fabric lining to the insides to reduce soil loss over time and to reduce soil slipping through the holes and slot on bottom boards and messing up the pavers beneath. Adding the L brackets made the whole unit stop shaking and wobbling, and adding the strong paint added that extra sealing and acted somewhat like an extra glue to the structure. I like the way they look, and will have to see how they last through the seasons, although, in southern California, our variations in seasons are minimal and the weather is relatively Mediterranean mild compared to other geographical regions. One unit came with a cracked bottom "D" board. I emailed the company. Within a day they replied and, since they said the "D" board as a separate piece was out of stock, they mailed me a complete additional raised bed kit and did not require me returning the one with the broken piece. It arrived within about 4 days of me emailing about the problem. So, I got 4 raised beds for the price of 3 (I repaired the broken piece). Based on their fast response and very generous solution, I give this company 5 stars out of 5 for after sale service. I think the additions I made to the original product will lead to several additional years of use. The product itself is a great buy for the money--all the pieces fit together perfectly, all hardware was included in all kits with no missing parts, and the directions were easy to follow. It took me, by myself, about 45 minutes for the first one assembled, and then, about 25 minutes for the remaining ones, once I knew what I was doing. It would take an additional hour or more if you were to do all the extra things I did (waterproofing, L bracketing, painting, and cutting out fabric/staple gunning to inside) for each unit. So, I paid about $106 (with tax in that price) for each unit. I had to get small 1" L brackets (8 needed per unit) for about $6, and the paint was left over from TexCoting my house, but if you go out and buy a high quality elastomeric paint, it will be between 50-80/gallon, but I suppose you could go with a cheaper paint. ... show more

  • Wow. Impressive
Color: Natural Wood Item Package Quantity: 2
The design of the interlocking wooden pieces excellent. The workmanship of the parts was impressive. Assembly Instructions are very clear. I built 4 of the raised beds and coated them with Thompson waterseal. The only flaw I see is the untreated wood would rot quickly even with the seal coat. I am lining the bed with a pond liner and making a drain hole through it. This should limit the amount of moisture in contact with the wood. These really are a 5+ star product. ... show more

  • Poor assembling
Color: Dark Brown Item Package Quantity: 1
The planter is nice, the assembling is not. You need a drill or electric screwdriver, no premade holes on the big boards which cause the time of assembly to be way longer than what it needs to be. I got the brown color and you can tell is a cheap coat of wood stain. It holds well, the bottom boards remain separated in the center. It seems sturdy for now. ... show more

Easy to put together. Lightweight and sturdy. I bought 2 more. We have the 3 of them in our screened lanai in South Florida. Very spacious with good drainage.

  • Versatile Senior Gardening
Color: Natural Wood Item Package Quantity: 1
The wife and I are in our 70s in East Texas. We love to garden, but frankly all the bending down is a pain. (or an ibuprofen!). We have a greenhouse with lots of bench space, but frankly, in these parts you simply can't move enough air to raise anything but an occasional desert chili in the greenhouse. We picked up a couple of these - they went together easily. Just remember for each end, there's a A, an M and a C piece. The first one was 45-minutes to assemble. Second one was done in 25 min flat. Took more time to get rid of packing than assembly, seems like. One thing they don't mention in the instructions: If you get too overly worked up and really COMPRESS the side braces (there are three on the bottom) then the bottom wood pieces won't go in easily. A dead-blow hammer for a little "convincing" might be needed. That said, on the second one where I wasn't going for aircraft tightened on sides, the bottom pieces dropped in just right snug. Terms of finish? Yes, smells like a cedar variety of some kind. Small boards that have been glue-lammed and machined. Very good use of four furniture toggle bolts to hold things together while you put the rest of the screws in the side pieces. You WILL want a #2 Phillips head in an impact driver (might be a much longer process without that). I know, I know...cedar shouldn't need a finish, but tomorrow I'll put a coat of Penofin on everything (great penetrating oil finish. Read its reviews for outdoor. Sure, I've used Cetol for a finish, but its more work than a penetrating oil. We figure to put 2-4 inches of humus in the bottom and starting soil on top of that. Drain holes are pre-drilled, so some broken flower pot pieces over them should be just the ticket. Had good experience with Yahee Tech so far and hope they do more in the way of outdoor products. Oh - the height on these is a perfect balance between sitting in a chair doing weeding and being able to do things while standing. Well done. Be nice if bigger, thicker lumber, and such. But that'd double the price...so balance in all things. Enjoy. (We will be putting these next to the house with deer screening around it! 2X2 wire and 6-foot T posts. Lettuces, winter, deer? Following me?) ... show more

  • Great once I got the assembly correct!
Color: Natural Wood Item Package Quantity: 2
I will preface by saying I stink at putting things together! Now that I’ve gotten the first one assembled, the other three will be a piece of cake. Seems like decent quality and sturdy enough for my purposes. I stained mine with tung oil (organic, food grade oil to not affect my plants negatively) to help waterproof it. I’m pleased overall. ... show more
