I bought the 24 oz. bowls along with these plates. The designs are stunning and I love everything Asian inspired. These plates have some heft to them, but are not exceedingly heavy. I have some other stoneware that's so heavy, it's like lifting a brick and I don't use them. I know these are going to get some use . . . they are just simply beautiful and seem to be well made. These plates as well as the related bowls and salad plates we bought are all outstanding. They are more beautiful than they look on line and the white undersides have a beautiful gloss and creamy color with a subtle mesh pattern. They are also very durable. It's a fantastic bargain for something this attractive and of such good quality. We are really happy with this purchase and proud to use this set when friends and family are over for dinner.     • Patterns much prettier than tiny images
First, the rating of 2 for "light weight" is a good thing. These plates are heavier than they look. The tiny images really don't do justice to the artism in the designs. Each one has lots of tiny details. Someone who knew what they were doing designed the patterns. I wanted some plates that don't have 'strong' sides, that is, these are not for liquid dishes; even sauces could spill over. But the sides have enough height to keep solid food in place, and there is a smooth increasing angle for the sides (i.e., no sudden changes in angle). Perfect for tostadas, for example. ... show more

I love the super bright colors on this plate/bowl set I EVEN purchased the matching bowls to go along with the plates The set is bright colored and does not fade when washed several times and the ceramic does not heat up when you warm up your food I am very happy and I also smile at the prettiness of my set when serving dinner to my family ... show more
