We picked this up for our daughter for Christmas. She hasn't had an Xylophone since she was a toddler, and she's been learning about scales in school, so it felt like the right time. Come to find out she knows so much that when she got it, she was thrilled that "It's not a Xylophone, daddy, it's a Glockenspiel." Well she was right and I was none the wiser, meanwhile all I can think about is hyenas playing with bones in The Lion King. This product sounds great, she loves it. Even at almost 10 she's using it to make up jingles and sounds. After a few months of rough care its still in great shape. Great way to spend $30

This looks kinda like a toy, with its multi-colored keys. And it's certainly something a kid can have fun with. You can also legitimately play it, though. The notes ring out cleanly, and are tuned well to my ear. You can snap it closed, with the mallets in there, to transport/store it without it getting damaged or losing the mallets. My kid loves having this in his musical arsenal.

Upfront disclosure: I received this item through the Amazon Vine program for review. I have been wanting to pick up a xylophone for a while but most of the kids ones just dont seem to have enough notes. This one includes a bit over 2 full octaves with the sharps and flats. Every note is stamped with it's letter (A, B, C, D, E, F, G) and color coded for the main notes. The sharps and flats are all the same color but placed over the main notes where the go in sequence. The mallets are plastic handled but feel reasonably good and the case is a reasonably sturdy plastic. I will probably make a wood case at some point to replace the plastic one but for now it is totally fine and even has a button latch that keeps it closed and flip out feet to improve sound quality through the vents on the bottom. Overall it's a nice instrument that is part toy part actual instrument.
