2 and 4 year old grandsons love this. They found the box in my office where i Left it on the floor in the box. They opened it as I knew they would and brought it to the living room and started playing with it. Both loved the sounds and using the mallots. This one has a very nice pleasing sound even older folks enjoyed. Its not irritating. The 2 year old could hit the spots easily because of the colorful characters. This comes with a color coded song book which i am sure we will start using to teach them about music. I'd say this is a good place to start music training.

My 1.5 year old and 3 year old both love this drum. The balls on the mallets do come off! We put them away for now and purchased some child friendly ones. The sound is great. It plays actual notes and not just noise. My kids have thrown it around a little and it seems to hold up well. I haven’t noticed a dent. This was a great alternative to getting my little one a regular drum. It’s got a nice relaxing sound. However they do like to hit it with the plastic part of the mallets.

This was a gift for my grandson, much too young to play a tongue drum. But, for several months now, he has been handling the mallets (supervised) to the best of his ability and can finally control them well - he now does a great job at the age of one (and he has always absolutely loved this drum).

Our two year old grandson loves it. I’m only giving four stars for the following reasons. 1. The number 1 looks like a 7. 2. I wish the case it comes with was big enough to hold the books and sticks as well. The positives are: The tones are nice to the ear, not super loud. He’s so young he doesn’t care what the numbers, pictures and lettering are on the drum.
