Though I was skeptical to get this being a DJI fan I decided to add this to my toolkit. This works and looks great. The image quality is on par with the DJI Osmo and actually I prefer the image of the Muse a bit more. It is discreet and portable obviously. The menu options are direct ans give you what you need to use the camera. To download the XLog (for those who prefer log footage) you'd need to download it from the XTRA site. The battery life is good and holds up for a lengthy shoot, but would recommend the battery attachment if you dont want to charge it in the middle of a shoot. It connects instantly to the XTRA app (at least on iOS, I ran into issues getting the android version of their app to work). The zoom capability is good, not as deep, but I rarely zoom anyhow, so that wasn't a dealbreaker for me. The gimbal itself functions smoothly and handles well regardless on what setting you have it set to. Audio sounds good even without a mic, but I use the DJI mic mini and the transmitter with it since there is no wireless connectivity. The Active Track function works extremely well and is easy to activate. This feature and performance is well worth the purchase paired with great image quality. Overall, this was a good purchase and has the features and capabilities you need for a pocket-sized camera. It has some weight to it and doesn't feel cheap. The downsides for me is regarding the XTRA app which doesn't have robust options like the DJI app, but it still has camera functions that may be useful, or you can use it as a field monitor to compose your shot. For this price, it's a steal.

I've been using video equitment for a little over 25 years, I've filmed with TV studio cameras and junky dv camcorders, several different drones from dirt cheap to stupid expensive, currently my kit in only full frame mirrorless cameras. I picked this up for a job where I knew I'd need to be running around and have it connect natively to my DJI mics. I didn't really expect much from it. but holy cow, you don't get the flexibilty of a camera system with multiple lenses, but after dialing it in and for what it does the picture quality has no business being as good as it is for the price. My client genuily could not tell the difference between what I shot on this and gear that was 4 times the price. Just keep in mind this isn't going to be able to deliver that quality in more chalenging situations, but with decent lighting, it crazy what something I can literaly carry in my from pocket can pull off.

This camera is amazing. The video quality is cinematic no exaggeration there. It takes a better photo than my DSLR. I can’t steady my hand enough even on a tripod, it still comes out noisy but with the xtra muse it shoots a crisp photo with no real noticeable noise because of that image stabilization on that 3 axis gimbal. This camera is a game changer in any photographer or videographers repertoire especially for the price. Battery life is as expected you will need to get a battery pack or a battery attachment extender. The camera is very stable with any shot or movement. The zoom function is good for what it is meant to do in close range. It is very portable as I can slip this into my bag and not feel the weight of it being in there. Overall I would recommend this camera to anyone seeking a more budget friendly option, the protege, as some would say to the dji pocket 3.

When I press record on a vacation camera, I need to trust that it is actually recording. After repeated overheating and SD card errors during our Hawaii trip, I stopped trusting the Xtra Muse with moments I couldn’t recreate. I own the original DJI Osmo Pocket and Pocket 3, so I’m familiar with this type of compact gimbal camera. I bought the Xtra Muse specifically for candid family videos, walking shots, and quick run-and-gun recording. Repeated SD Card Errors During our stay at the Sheraton Waikiki, I repeatedly received: “SD card system format not supported. Format and try again.” I included photos showing the actual error during our trip. I initially blamed the memory card, so I tested three brand-new genuine SanDisk Extreme PRO 256GB microSDXC cards rated UHS-I, U3 and V30. I changed cards and reformatted them, but the error returned. The pattern was concerning. Still photography was mostly fine, but during video recording the camera became noticeably hot and eventually produced SD card errors. 4K60 was particularly troublesome, although I also experienced problems at lower video settings. After seeing the same behavior with multiple quality cards, I stopped believing the cards were the only issue. Why This Matters for Travel I also brought a Canon full-frame mirrorless camera with RF L-series lenses, a carbon-fiber travel tripod, and a GoPro for snorkeling. That equipment is excellent for planned photography, but a full-frame camera and tripod aren’t what I want when chasing kids around or capturing spontaneous family moments. That’s exactly why I bought the Xtra Muse. Kids don’t repeat spontaneous moments because your camera overheated or decided the memory card needed to be reformatted. I left my proven gimbal camera behind because I expected the Xtra Muse to handle our everyday vacation video. That was a mistake. What I Like * Compact and easy to carry * Good gimbal stabilization * Clear screen * Quick USB-C charging * Works with USB-C accessories I already carry * Compatible wireless microphone options * Convenient one-handed shooting * Good video when everything is working * Still photography was more reliable in my experience Another positive is accessory compatibility. Some accessories I already use with my DJI setup, including compatible wireless microphone and USB-C gear, also work here. That means fewer duplicate cables, chargers, and accessories when traveling. What I Don’t Trust * Gets very hot during sustained video recording * Repeated SD card format errors * Same problem with multiple new SanDisk Extreme PRO cards * Reformatting did not permanently fix it * 4K60 was particularly problematic * I also encountered errors at lower video settings * I would not use this as my only vacation camera Bottom Line The Xtra Muse has a lot going for it: compact size, good stabilization, USB-C charging, accessory compatibility, and a convenient travel-friendly design. But specifications stop mattering when I can’t trust the camera to record. For casual shooting with a backup camera nearby, maybe. For a family vacation, wedding, or anything you only get one chance to capture, I would bring something proven. I wanted the Xtra Muse to replace my other pocket gimbal for this trip. After my Hawaii experience, it didn’t. If I could do the trip again, I would bring my proven Pocket 3.

Great Cam! I do miss my 28X Zoom I had in my broken Panasonic cam but outside of that the little 2X zoom is workable. I did discover that you can get you an long USB-C cord to not only charge it but also use it as a power source to power the cam for longer recording. I would rather have my zoom and up/down controls in side button controls vs. on the screen bc it's a pain in the neck trying get it right with your finger sliding up and down on that little screen. That feature is in the bottom bigger button but sometimes it changes from zoom to up and down on its own which is crazy. You can change in the settings having it to divide your film into chapters vs. having it to constant record, which is better. I was tired of seeing a song divided in half in my editing time. I have a fabric pouch that i use to carry it in and that fits right into my Tripod bag so now, it's less stuff to carry around.-Bottom line I Love it!

I bought this to start vlogging and after the first few uses, I'm kinda looking at my Fujifilm and Nikon cameras sideways! This thing is AMAZING, starting with the footage. It's so clean and crisp that when shooting outside, it almost seems as though you're using a greenscreen. Granted, its not weather resistent but at the same time, I dont go outside when its raining to record or photograph anything so that doesnt matter to me. I did purchase a few extra's like a little tripod and a device that allows me to clip the camera to a backpack strap....and also external bluetooth mics. This is a killer combo in a veeeeery small package. Really happy with this purchase!
