This is a great little device Yes, no backlight or tough screen. I actually appreciate the button control. Yes, the own software blows once you find out the capabilities of Crosspoint. Installing crosspoint was so easy to figure out that I have a whole new appreciate for Reddit subgroups and GitHub users. The memory card option makes it all pretty easy, and one your figure out your preferred button mapping (because you can remap them) it’s a great little device. I’m a power reader and tech-nerd with a boox Palma 2 pro, kobo Libra colour, and kindle Scribe. Since my friends and family now scold me for sneaking an e-reader to most boring events, they make sure to check me for e-readers. This lil’ unit fits in my palm and I snap it to the back of my phone and say it’s a battery pack. =) boring crisis averted. Do you have to be techy to use it? No. There are pretty of YouTube tutorials out there to help you with personalization. What could be tricky is learning about some extra features GitHub creators have created for the device. The integrated KoReader features could be tough, but a YouTube video by a kid, who looked about 12, was able to help me figure out KoReader. So, it’s a great little gadget that’s affordable. I’m not worried about breaking it because it cost less than my Starbucks monthly budget. Has a little learning curve, but the size and capability with crosspoint, KoReader, and file transfer features make it work it.

I love this little e reader so much!. I was looking for something that was light weight supposed to my kindle, because I would get a lot of fatigue holding it!. This e reader is the PERFECT size for my small hands. I love how pocketable it is. I can whip it out quickly whenever time needs to be passed. And with the ability to flash cross point on it, makes everything so convenient. I will never go back to my heavy e reader again!!.

I fell for the content creators hype and instantly regretted it. The good: it’s small The bad: no backlight (full daylight reading only), totally counter intuitive or confusing user interface buttons, clunky firmware out of the box, slightly less clunky firmware with reflash to Crosspoint, lengthy “re-indexing” wait after any setting change. Did I mention NO backlight? I don’t know about you, but much of the time I want to pick up something to read I’m not going to have full daylight. This thing is unreadable unless you’ve got really good lighting. The buttons are a hot mess. There’s no indication that they are rocker buttons, but after a while you kind of figure it out. But even then they don’t make sense. I found that even after fiddling a bit AND some times having them labeled in Crosspoint I was guessing more often than not at which to press. If the stock firmware is so bad that it immediately needs to be replaced with something else, that’s a pretty good indicator that overall the product isn’t going to be worth it. In Crosspoint every time you change a setting the thing just sits there for a while “re-indexing”. I guess when you leave and re-open a book it needs to do that? Annoying. It’s only positive is, it’s small. That doesn’t make up for all the negatives. Back to Amazon it goes.

This is such a neat device. I came across this by chance on amazon and when i looked into it more there is an entire community online of people who love this device. I personally prefer ordering items through amazon so I ordered it here instead of AliExpress. Once I got it I put crosspoint on it and its AMAZING. I can't believe how light weight it is - its for real SMALL. I don't think I could use this as my only ereader but I wanted it primarily to have with me every time I leave the house. Its been great for that purpose. I love that I can pop it out for quick reads instead of scrolling through something on my phone when I'm not home. It doesn't have a way to light the screen (I think with ereaders its front lights) but it hasn't been an issue at all since its not what I grab to read in bed at night. However, I have seen people get lights for the back of theirs which is pretty easy since you can attach anything magnetic to the back. Its pretty cool. 10/10 would recommend, I'll probably buy some more to give as gifts for some folks this year.

Amazing little device. If you want to read more and are busy, it is the perfect way to get more reading in throughout your day. The X4 acts as a complementary device in my use case, since I still like reading on paperback at home when I have the time, but can immediately switch over to my X4 when I’m out and moving around. If you do get this device, I would recommend switching to the Crosspoint firmware over the official, and take a few minutes to learn the operation. Other than that, its so easy to use and even more convenient.

Howdy hey! I got my X4 a few days ago and have been loving it. I've gotten through over half of a book and barely 10% battery was used, which includes all the set up time. It came preinstalled with an sd card and computer adapter so I was able to upload books immediately. I did flash Crosspoint on it (you can find it on GitHub) and it's a better UI than the factory one, imo. The buttons all make a satisfying click, all 7 of them. I like the size, because I have little hands. It also came with a screen protector (that I promptly messed up installing) and two adhesive metal rings for your phone so if you don't have a magsafe adapter, well, now you do. It's a strong enough magnet to easily open and close the credit card slot on my phone case. Very very pleased. Not for people with big hands, I don't think, but I'm not one of those
