This is my first experience with a e-book reader. I have not used any other brands or models, which makes it easier to love this one since I basically had no expectations for it or experience with a device like this. It's small and looks nice. I take it everywhere I go. It has a decent battery life. I am able to use it for several days before it needs to be charged again. I describe it as being a simple no frills, inexpensive e-reader. It's very easy to download a e-book with and it supports many different e-book formats. The screen looks nice and it's very easy to read from it. I can not read traditional paperback books because the pages are too white for my eyes. The screen coloring on this reader is perfect.     • So cute and tiny and I love it
This little reader is so cute and tiny! I bought a cover that looks like a book, and it stays in my purse for waiting rooms, etc. I did upload the different software, Crosspoint, to this, but really, the software that comes on it is fine too. I had no issues with loading books, and navigating is easy enough with it. I also like to make the font size larger. The screen is not a touch screen, and I find that I like it that way. No accidental page turns in my purse, etc. It's such a cute reader and the price is crazy low, IMO. I own so many devices but this is the one I take with me everywhere.     • Beware: you may not get what you pay for
This _was_ an incredibly cool little device. I own two of them. As plenty of other people reviewing it have noted, the main draw is that there's a very very good third-party firmware, Crosspoint, that allows for added features and just an all around better user experience. As of the latest models, XTEINK has started to lock down the firmware to prevent users from installing Crosspoint. So, if you're reading these reviews, beware: the thing that a lot of people bought this for is going away soon. I hope XTEINK rethinks this decision, but until then: if you buy this, you'll be stuck with a different (and worse) product than what the reviews here are talking about.     • Wonderful little ereader - with a few exceptions
Will start off by getting right to it and say I absolutely think this is a great tiny ereader everyone should have, and that it's a wonderful little device. Having books *this* handy has gotten me to read even more - it's perfect for reading for a few minutes when you have a little downtime, quick 5-10 sessions. Maybe you're waiting for the bus, for pasta to cook, for your uber to show up, whatever, but it's extremely portable and easy to just have on you anywhere, so it's easier to read a bit in situations where you wouldn't normally have a book sized device on you. But to really get the full potential out of it, you need to do something first. Maybe you've seen other reviews mention Crosspoint - it's an open source firmware made for this, that is much, much better than what the x4 ships with, and my opinion should be the first thing you do - interface is much better, more customization, better formatting, wireless book transferring, etc etc. Just a much better overall experience. It's extremely simple, and for those who aren't too comfy with computers you'll be just fine too - it's just a few clicks and a minute or two, so if you do get an x4, search for Crosspoint Reader. For those who more recently have seen some mentions here and there of the company locking down some devices so you can't flash Crosspoint - relax. They have said overseas models won't be locked down, and in the event you do get a locked one, Crosspoint has an unlock tool right on their site. The device itself is small, lightweight, with a great battery life and nice sharp screen. It's a little barebones though for those looking for extra features - there's no backlight, and it's physical buttons only, no touchscreen, but for those who are used to carrying books, or older ereaders, that shouldn't really be much of an issue. Personally I prefer no touch screen on this so I don't accidentally turn a page or something lol If you're ok with a straightforward ereader without a few frills, and can spare a minute or two to make a few clicks to install Crosspoint, you have an inexpensive, lightweight and ultra portable ereader that is an amazing companion ... show more

I’ve been really impressed with this little eReader! It’s incredibly lightweight and easy to carry, making it perfect for reading anywhere. The E-Ink screen is easy on my eyes, and the page-turn buttons make it feel like a real book. I also love that there are no notifications or distraction. just a simple, enjoyable reading experience. The battery life has been great so far, and the compact size makes it easy to slip into my purse. If you’re looking for a portable eReader, I definitely recommend this one! ... show more

i really like this tiny reader. it's tricky to get set up, but i think i've got it, mostly. i haven't been able to get it to open the micro sd card, but i did figure out how to do a direct transfer over wifi. it is nice to read on, and fits great in any pocket.

So surprised that I’m keeping this. It’s so cute but I was worried I wouldn’t be able to actually read books on it. Guess what? I can! Now, it took me a couple of hours on TikTok and YouTube to learn about the firmware, play around with the features, and book options but now I know how to format it to what I like. You can just follow the directions and start reading within the 30 minutes but I really like the cross point/crossink firmware/os look and features. Also this ereader is small but not as small as the x3. I would recommend buying this size first. I was still able to use the magnetic feature to put in on the back of my iPhone 12 Pro. It covers the camera but fits! Really cool ereader. The other ereader companies better watch out because this is a game changer. ... show more

    • OMG! I LOVE IT!
I just love this. It doesn't auto magnetize to my phone but I'm pretty sure that isn't where I would like it anyway. Flashing it to Crosspoint Reader firmware was a little intimidating as I've never done anything like that. BUT saying that, it was super easy and super fast. All done in 2 min or less. The figuring out what I had to do took 15 minutes, lol. It is super easy to hold and press the side where my fingers already go is quite nice. Takes no thought. The size is perfect, the font is perfect, the weight is super perfect. Super responsive, and easy to read. Can you tell I just love it? I sat in my recliner last night and read for an hour (lol was supposed to be testing it out) that I had not planned for. Hand nor arm felt strained at all, I almost forgot I was holding it. I'm 4'9" and have very small hands. The picture will show the complete ease of holding it and my finger just automatically lands on the side where I need to press. ... show more
