I bought this from the manufacturer directly about a month ago. I've only had to charge it once, and it was still above about 60%. The magnetism is really great, and I leave it attached to my phone most of the time. I do enjoy attaching it to other magnetic surfaces and turning on the auto-page flip feature for hands-free reading. There's a great community of people on Reddit that will answer any questions that you might have about this AMAZING little e-reader. I've shown several people how great it is, and it reversed their scepticism right away. If you're feeling like you haven't read in a while and that you just don't have the time, give this a try. I find that I read faster on it and finish books before realizing how much I've read. The contents of the box are really great to start off with. I hope to get the cover for it in due time. Make sure to put that screen protector on, too, if you're going to keep it on the back of your phone. This device is worth every dime. ... show more

I recently bought bought both an X4 and an X3 from XTEInk through Amazon. The X4 is the perfect size, has a USB-C port, and (in my tactile and personal opinion) has the superior side button (double rocker). The X3 is the ultimate travel reader, but it might be a touch too small and light (imho); it has a proprietary magnetic pin charger (as opposed to USB-C), and the buttons are super-quiet. Both devices have excellent buttons in terms of quiet operation and satisfying feel. Neither device has a back-light. Neither device is touchscreen. Navigation around the UI can be a little tricky at first, but it's a quick learning curve. I downloaded some epub files from gutenberg.org, and I was off to the races, as they say. Both devices are ADDICTIVE. I just want to read another page and click to progress. Rise and repeat. If you're looking for something to drag you away from your phone screen, I can think of no better tech alternative (I own other ereaders). As others will tell you, I highly recommend flashing the alternative UI through Crosspoint. It too is very straightforward and quick to do. My bottom line is that I'm really, really happy with both devices, and I look forward to having a light and easy reading option with me at all times, as opposed to phone use. Yes, it is small, and yes, it's not as easy as a Kindle or Kobo, but other than the x4, there is nothing else out there that can so easily go anywhere with you. It's as simple as dropping it into a t-shirt pocket. I use the magnetic case, and even with the additional weight, it doesn't drag the pocket down. I thought that the size would be an issue when reading a book, but other than turning pages more frequently, it isn't a problem. And the button placement makes page turning pretty unconscious. One downside, however, is that only DRM-free books can be read on the device, and file type support is limited to epub and txt for reading. Despite that, this and the x4 are the e-readers that I've been waiting for since Kobo dumped the Mini. ... show more
