X3 supports multiple transfer methods: Wi-Fi (phone/computer browser), eReader Hotspot (no external Wi-Fi needed), MicroSD card (16GB pre-installed; reader sold separately), and the Xteink App. What file formats are supported? Books: TXT (UTF-8), EPUB Images: BMP, JPG (≤1024×1024px, under 2MB, 3:5 aspect ratio) Fonts: .bin format only Note: Only DRM-free EPUB and TXT files are supported. My SD card won't be recognized — what should I do? Remove the SD card and format it, then tap RESET and hold Power to restart the device. For large-capacity cards, format to FAT32 on a computer: right-click the drive, select Format, choose FAT32, and click Start. Does it have a front light? No, X3 is designed without a front light to keep an ultra-thin body and deliver a clearer, paper-like display. Awesome little find. I have small hands and it's still almost too small and not super comfortable in the hand, but it's lightweight enough not to really matter. Very convenient to read on the go. I am afraid I will loose it off my phone, the magnet is not super strong, and it faces the opposite direction of your phone so if you set it down one or the other is face down and could get scratched. I flashed mine and am using the other software to make epub books formatted correctly. The buttons are not complicated but trying to enter a long password on your wifi can be tricky. If you are not comfortable using calibre then this might not be for you, but you can drag and drop books into a file through wifi. The font options with the flashed software are pretty good and make it easy to read without too much strain on the eyes, I don't have to use my reading glasses if I don't want to. It is plastic and probably not super durable but it is not a $200 ereader. The magnetic charger does not stay on in certain positions, keep that in mind. The micro SD card was a pain to get back in when I added a slightly higher capacity one. I threw on some old books that I don't mind reading on the side since I have other ereaders and this one wont synchronize to what I am already reading. Overall I like this a lot. I will keep it and get a screen protector for throwing in my pocket.

Hands down, this is the single best purchase I have made all year! If you are looking for a way to break your doom scrolling habit, look no further. Having an E reader that sticks magnetically right to the back of my phone has been a total game changer. I use it every single day now. It sits right in my pocket, and it is so much fun customizing the sleep images and loading up new books. I highly recommend flashing CrossPoint firmware as the UI. It makes the user experience so much better. This little device is shockingly durable too. I ran it for about a week without any cover or screen protector. I dropped it a few times and there is not a single scratch on it. Thoroughly impressed with every aspect of this tiny, but mighty reader!

Look, I fell victim to wanting another e-reader to pair with my Kindle. Did I need it? Absolutely not. But I justified it by telling myself it was more pocketable, could stick to the back of my phone, and would give me something fun to tinker with through custom firmware, backgrounds, and stepping outside of the Amazon ecosystem. I was worried the XTEINK 3 might feel too small, but I’ve actually found the opposite to be true. Its compact size and accessibility make it incredibly easy to carry everywhere, and I’ve been reaching for it far more often than I expected. It’s perfect for turning little pockets of downtime into reading time instead of mindlessly scrolling on my phone. My biggest complaint is the lack of a frontlight, but that’s also where my Kindle still has a place. The two devices complement each other well. This one comes with me everywhere, and the Kindle handles nighttime reading. The included screen protector was a little challenging to install, although that’s probably more a reflection of my impatience than the product itself (if you zoom in on my photos, you’ll spot a few dust particles trapped underneath). I’m not a particularly tech-savvy person, but I was able to figure out how to flash Crosspoint firmware without much trouble, which made the device even more enjoyable to customize. Overall, I have zero regrets about this purchase. It’s a fun, unique little e-reader that has genuinely helped me read more often, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for an ultra-portable reading device.

I always thought this was just a gimmick whenever I saw the ads in IG but after reading some reviews and seeing that the price isn't too high, I bit the bullet. I love this little e-reader. I was worried that without a light it'll be mostly useless unless outside but I've used it in my dark bedroom that is lit by only one small lamp due to sensitivity to light and I was able to easily read this. Too be fair, I also have the font set to xlarge but I think I can manage on large if needed. I love that it's button operated cuz the small screen would be annoying if my fingers kept accidentally brush against it. I don't use magsafe items because my android case is a credit card holder too and the sticker won't be able to stick fully on. I already have a smaller flat round disc magnetic holder on the back of my phone to stick to my car holder and sadly this e-reader doesn't stick well to it, very loose and slides around. Really need to use the magsafe rings if you want it to stick firmly to the back of your phone. But this wasn't a deal breaker because I bought this with the idea that I can just toss it into one of my pockets and quickly do some reading while at the doctor's office or waiting elsewhere. I did the firmware flash to crossreader since so many people mentioned it on the reviews and the interface is definitely nicer now with more customizations. It did take me a few tries but turns out it was my usb-c cable, changed to my USB c to USB c and the firmware flashed like advertised. I was worried the e-reader was locked but glad I tried another cable first. The books were easy to put into the reader through cloud push or ejecting the included microsd card and doing drag and drop. I loaded mine full of fanfics after using an online converter to export links as an epub. So far the only real negative I have is how difficult it is to remove and insert the microsd card, I was afraid I'd break the slot as my fingernail kept angling it wrong. I found the back end of a still folded paperclip works well for ejecting the card. I'm going to have to take the time and learn to use the other methods such as cloud push through the app or calibre wireless. No regrets about this purchase and I already have 2 Kindle Oasis and rarely leave home! But those are so cumbersome to bring out with me and I can't easily use my phone because of my sensitive eyes and poor eyesight. So this should be a game changer and keep me even more off my phone! I might invest in more screen protectors though...the one included didn't go on flawlessly and bugs my ocd. Oh and the lanyard slot was a huuuuuge pain to thread a lanyard through it!!! Had to try so many different tools to try and pull it through...tied floss and one side of tweezers did the trick!

Like many, I saw this on TikTok, and bought it on a whim. It was an extra birthday gift for my partner, as well, along with a few other e-readers we did not end up keeping. I was not expecting to love it as much as I do. But let’s get into the nitty gritty— It cannot read Libby or Kindle Books. I have a few I liked enough to buy and then put on there, but it struggles with certain “protected” formats. Mostly, I’ve been using it with books from the Gutenberg Library to catch up on my classics, so this is fine for me. It also struggles with PDFs and I haven’t been able to fix that part yet, which is a bigger deal for me but just means I can’t use it to study PDF versions of my school notes. Oh well. There is no backlight, which is not anywhere near the problem I thought it would be. It doesn’t fit on the iPhone 16Pro regular, but it is super magnetic and fits on a lot of other things. I was very wary of connecting to it before flashing it, but getting crosspoint onto it took all of 5 minutes and I am super happy with it now. The convenience of this thing is everything. You barely even feel it in your pocket. If you’re trying to read more, I cannot recommend it enough. For me, it has really helped me simplify. I carry my phone less places because I’m not reading on it, and I can’t underline stuff here which means for some books I’ve gone old school and started little paper notes on things I want to remember, which feels unexpectedly good. The battery lasts obscenely long and I just love it and have, really, no complaints at all. Try it if you’re on the fence, and if you’re willing to buy or procure books for it outside of the usually methods like kindle and Libby, it is SO worth it.

Unfortunately this is a very mixed review. The concept is there but the hardware quality isn't. I purchased my unit on April 22 and am writing this on June 27 after a few periods of unusability, including after the last few days. We will start with the good and then go to the bad. It's a great idea because it does what a book does: Being a book. Not a lot more, or a lot less. Moreover it fits in your pocket and has reflowable text and resizable font. It succeeds wonderfully at being distraction-free and portable. The simplicity, small form factor, responsiveness, micro-SD approach, etc. are excellent. I flashed Crosspoint and instantly preferred reading on this device to my Kindle. During my brief window of usability, I read a LOT of books, and read each book in a more sustained way than on my Kindle. To illustrate, among other things, I found that I preferred using this to my Kindle for foreign-language books, even though it does not have the Kindle's integrated dictionary or automated translation feature, because those were distracting me from reading and inferring meaning from context. The problem is the fragility of the device, and the finicky nature of the screen in heat, light and possibly other weather conditions. Regarding fragility, it fell out of my pocket once a few feet to the sidewalk and cracked in a spidering way across the lower front screen. Not a big hit! Then it got left in a bag with a few other items and re-emerged cracked further along the back. Eventually some little pieces of glass sharded off. But that in itself wasn't a dealbreaker for me. Far from it. Despite the cracks, it remained functional and readable - the outer glass seemed to protect what the spec referred to as the "inner screen." I was still reading this cracked little thing instead of my Kindle Paperwhite. It was like carrying around a beat-up beloved old paperback with browned and fraying pages instead of a huge hardcover. But as the summer came on in the Northeastern US it became unusable. The screen started to blot out to black, or to noise, and would not revive for a few days at a time. Unclear reasons. It worked when I was outside, and failed when I got home. That happened a couple weeks ago, and then again over the past few days, and now I am not confident that it will come back to life. Poor little guy! Should bury it in a shoebox in the yard. I am debating whether to go back in with a cover, though that may change the form factor. I just haven't moved on emotionally with the screen possibly clearing one day. It seems more like a coma than death. The price point looks great unless it means I am buying disposable devices for $69.99/every two months or about $1/day. I'd assume in purchasing it that the screen will crack relatively quickly, that you will install Crosspoint, and that - even if these are not the things that caused the issue - you will look into the warranty and determine that it seems kind of void and might not be worth the trouble. Some other notes: Physical buttons require LOTS of repeated clicks on a screen this small, which may create concerns about carpal tunnel. Screen bleaches in the sunlight, which may obstruct reading even on a temperate day.

Obviously this thing is super cute, but I am actually impressed with the quality. The screen doesn't have a backlight, but it is pretty white and glare resistant. The body feels sturdy and oddly satisfyingly smooth. The stock firmware seemed fine for popping some ebooks on the (included) SD card or over WiFi, but I loaded up custom firmware (Crosspoint) to make it feel even more feature rich. Despite the small screen, I have no problems doing serious reading on it, and it's so wonderful to be able to carry it in one hand. The only things I wish it had were USB C and a backlight, but both would compromise on its size and weight, so I'm satisfied nevertheless.

I've really been enjoying this little e-reader. It's super lightweight and easy to throw in a bag or even a pocket, so I end up taking it with me more often than I expected. It's also a nice way to take a break from traditional screen time since the e-ink display is much easier on my eyes. I also looooove how lightweight and small it is, doesn't make taking it everywhere a hassle, also has a great battery life and love how it can just attach to my phone. The unique charger is annoying but since I don't have to charge too frequently it's been okay so far The biggest downside is that you'll need some light to read because the screen isn't front-lit. It also takes a little time to get used to the controls since it's not a touchscreen. That said, I like that you can customize the button layout to fit your preferences, which makes it much more intuitive after a bit of use. There are also several different ways to upload books to the device, so getting your library onto it is simple. Overall, it's been a great little e-reader and I'm happy with it.
