Got this watch for a SIX year old. We like that we can call him/or he can call us if he needs to especially when he's at school or at extracurricular programs. The design is sleek and not bulky like other kids' watches. I like that we can call him directly from cell phone app without having to go into the Xplora app. However, you need to do that to exchange messages your child. The child gets an actual phone number that can be dialed by other family members and whom he can call easily if they're added into his contacts. Messaging: Very few choices to choose from. Wish there were more. Child is unable to write out their own text (which my child did not like and wished he can send actual texts to us). It does have decent emoji selections. The only negative thing we found is that the "X" button to return to previous screens/exit of a current location on the watch is VERY tiny at the top right hand of the screen and hard to select and it gets annoying having to try and hit that right spot just to exit out. It does have school mode hours you can personalize. Wish it has a vibrate mode or a way it can silently remind the child to check the watch for a missed message or call during school time - because many times, we've come to find out he barely even looked at the watch if it was on silent mode until switched back to normal tone. GPS locating: Pretty good. But could use a tighter radius especially focusing on a school radius only and not a few blocks away within the safety zone alert. Other apps we and our son thought was cool and actually used were the: Alarm, Flashlight, Steps counter, and calculator. It does also have a Calendar, Recording, and Music app. Overall, we like this watch and would recommend.

This watch doesn't work and them they TRAP you into a monthly service and do NOT let you get out. It's fraudulent! I never ever signed up for their 2yr scam and now I have to deal with the credit card company to remove this. What a joke and can't return this. Their customer service is HORRID, somewhere in China and they will NOT help nor cancel your service. It's a SCAM! The watch itself is IMPOSSIBLE to set up. Complete waste of money. DO NOT BUY THIS!!!! 2/22/24

I ordered this watch with high hopes. When we got the watch immediately upon activation we had issues. AT&T SIM card did not work. My son had virtually no service and I couldn’t track him using the gps feature. I did reach out to XPLORA customer service and they sent me a new watch the xgo3 with their SIM card and it has been a world of difference. The watch works perfectly. If you’re looking at this watch I suggest ordering from the XPLORA website and getting the xgo3 it’s a much better watch in my opinion and the battery lasts way longer.

This smart watch is perfect for my 9 year old! It gives us peace of mind that we can always know where she is and she can contact us if needed. She can only call or text numbers that we add to her device via parent app. School mode is a great feature to avoid distractions during class. Having a camera is a nice bonus for her to have fun with this device. Great for younger kids as there is a voice recording option if they’re not yet proficient at typing texts. There are also commonly used phrases they can select from. Note that this device requires a subscription for all features to work to full potential.

I bought two watches for my 8 year old twins for x-mas. One was easy to activate but the other one took over 5 hours to activate. They worked for the first month but then I had to reboot the watches every morning in order for them to take calls. Now, after two months, one watch will not turn on. I am in the process of contacting xplora but it's not an easy process and don't know if they can help.

Update! I got contacted by customer service, Paula. She helped me get a better version of the watch (XGO3).. and gave me 3 mos of free service. The location is very accurate now . Thank you Paula! --------------------- This is a great gift if you consider it as a toy...it's cool for calling and texting..but if you want it as a safety device..this is not an option.. LOCATION IS NON ACCURATE.! It shows like my son is 5 miles away from its actual location . Don't buy if you need it to know your child's location..but it works great for calling and texting..and taking photos. Any contact that you add to their contacts list, may call your kid, but if you want them to text , the contacts need to download the app in order to be able to txt..but calling is open

10/3/23 update*** Customer service contacted me and offered to send a new, updated watch. They also offered three months of free service. They sent the new XGO 3. The location feature is much improved. Customer service was excellent.*** I bought this for my 7yo son. The chat feature, school feature and clock work perfectly. The location feature is really horrible. I bought to keep track of where my child is. This will not update the location even if I refresh it. It is wayyyyy behind in letting us know when he has left a safety zone. This is not acceptable.

This watch isn’t worth the money if you’d like your child to be able to call you, or if you’d like to track their location. The customer service for this company is terrible. There isn’t a phone number to call and actually talk to a live persons. The only way to reach someone is via email and they can take a couple days to get back to you. It took two months with back and forth communication before I finally got things resolved. During that time they did try to send a replacement watch with a different SIM. I think my first watch came with a T-Mobile SIM card and then they sent a replacement watch with an AT&T SIM thinking that would solve the problem. It didn’t. When trying to locate your child, the tracking wouldn’t update for 8-9hours! Kind of defeats the purpose of tracking them. Anyways, they finally sent me an upgraded model…the XGO3 and it’s 100% better. Save your time by just going straight for the XGO3 model. Luckily I haven’t had to contact customer service for this watch yet.
