The platform is very sturdy, and it looks like some flaws pointed out in other reviews are not present with mine. With that said, this platform had clearly been sent to someone else (with an Amazon label to a different state) and returned. As a bonus, whoever returned this added an XOP ultralight harness to the box. So I guess I came out ahead, with a free harness? I will keep this because it seems structurally sound, but I absolutely do not agree with reselling returned tree stand equipment without some kind of inspection (and some actual notice that it's second-hand). Considering there was an extra item in the box, this clearly wasn't opened by XOP or Amazon when it was returned.

The lighter aluminum ones are meh compared to this. A tad bit heavy But boy is it worth it. This thing bites the tree and is super easy. Doesn’t make any noise hardly and any shoe I wear doesn’t sleep wet or not. Nor does it squeak. Buy it. Don’t cheap out on junk.

I wanted to get into saddle hunting, and after research, bought this unit; it was less expensive than some of the other brands, but seemed like a good fit for my needs. It's not the lightest one out there, either, but it is OK. The only negative thing I have noted is that it is sometime a little hard to get it fastened tight enough to the tree that it won't slip or yaw when you put your weight on one edge. It'd be nice if the strap tensioner would ratchet rather than being the pull-to-tighten type. It is difficult to pull hard enough to keep the strap from stretching and allowing the top arm & cleats to pivot away from the tree. However, I still recommend it, it is very serviceable. I used it the entire last deer season and have no plans of replacing it.

So i bought this beacuse it said it weight in at 4.5 lbs. I weight it on 2 different scales it weights 6.3 lbs. It's built very heavy duty.this why it's 6.3lbs. They include a nice safty harness. And a linemens belt with a carabiner tied to a prusik. Overall very nice.

I am new to saddle hunting, and the XOP edge is my first platform that I have used. It’s not the lightest platform, but it is extremely sturdy. I feel very safe in the tree on this platform. When it’s cammed In, it does not move.

After a couple seasons with this platform I’m changing my review. The platform is sturdy and good quality, no doubt about that. The problem is the weight. I hunt big woods public land. I usually with set up a climber and use the saddle when nothing happening and I want to get mobile. This is not the platform if you want be mobile. The platform itself is 13lbs but then you need your rope if you’re using throw lines or your carrying sticks. It’s too much of your climbing up and down hills, still hunting, following the sign. If you want to set this and leave it, you’ll be happy with it. Solid, good grip. Use a ratchet strap to get it tight and you can get on the edges. If you want to be mobile with your saddle setup, look elsewhere.
