Features

  • Built-in Automatic Antenna Tuner: The automatic antenna tuner and power amplifier unit of XPA125B can be used independently of each other as either an automatic antenna tuner or a separate power amplifier. The tuner handles 14-500 ohm loads in the HF bands and 6-meter band.
  • 100W Power Output: The XPA-125B is the perfect amplifier for QRP radios or SDR transceivers with low power consumption (like a 5-watt transmitter) when 100-watt output is needed. Its maximum power output is 125 watts.
  • Safty & Protection: The XPA125B has a variety of intelligent protection circuits to ensure the safety of the amplifier and connected transceiver. When abnormal operating conditions appear like SWR is too high, too much drive power, or too high temperature, the amplifier enters bypass mode and displays an alarm message.
  • New Enhanced Version: After improving its shape and size from XPA125, it is smaller than the old version and can be worn on a bracelet like a small bag.
  • Large Screen Display: The 2.7 inch large backlit LCD display shows input/output power, SWR, Voltage, Current, Temperature, amplifier status as well as warning messages making the operation of this modern amplifier simple and also user friendly.

  • Awesome lil low drive amp!
Can hit this guy with .2-.5w and see 80-85w pep out! So 2-3w or that 5w qrp rig will excite this guy to full power. If swr is ideal and tuner is at a minimal reflect, also depending on band of operation, an easy 100w+ is obtainable with this unit! Up to 125w pep shown on display and is accurate with swr, band, tuner, amp, voltage. Input swr and output swr with watts simultaneously displayed! Great tuner with what we believe is a 10:1 capacity! Not many do this! Works on 160m fine. 43ft worked great but only needs the 4:1 to work. Value for money and functionality! Just an awesome lil amp! One thing I’d add is that silent but turbo muffin fan or two!!! ;) cheers 73 w8rbj ... show more

  • Good for the money. Requires special cable to work.
I am updating my review as I was expecting this amp to work like amps I have used in the past. Instead of an internal relay sensing the RF and switching the amp to transmit, it needs a special cable to connect to the radio. This needs to be purchased separately and you need the right one for your radio. This information in the description would have saved me a lot of trouble. The advantage of the cable is automatic band switching. The amp does have a good wide bandwidth. Testing it with a dummy load and an unlocked xiegu 6100 it achieved between 80 to 100 watts from 1.6 Mhz to 30 Mhz. Did not test it on 50. The antenna tuner gave me great results with the xiegu vg4 antenna allowing me to use 80 meters. I could hear myself on an sdr located 400 miles away. 160 Meters was not achieved with the antenna but it's no big deal. ... show more

  • Really nice Amp
Works very well. Only used it with my Xiegu X-6100 so far, but .5 of a watt gets me 85+ watts out. Since I have 4 Xiegu radios I'm sure it will get plenty of use. I run QRP most of the time but in those times when a little more power is needed, I'll have it. Hats off to Xiegu and Radioddity. On a side note....my entire shack now is all Xiegu. ... show more

  • Power out is fine
I found the tuner fairly ineffective as have most reviewers. I have an MFG AT 100 that I have used for years and it works fine. The power output is good on all bands. Unfortunately, my band switch on the amplifier does not work terribly well. You have to push it three or four times to get it to cycle through the bands. I suppose I could swap it, but it’s not that big of a deal so I’ll just use it. I’m using it with an icon 705 and an appropriate cable that I got through Amazon. I’ve used it a fair bit into a homebrew end fed mounted in the attic and it reliably gives me 2 S-units above the usual IC 705 output. I drive it with only 1 – 2.5 W and it does fine. ... show more

  • Good when I was finally able to find a consistent tuning process.
Check out the YouTube video from TRX Lab entitled "#270 QRP PA Xiegu XPA-125B, defect ATU?" There he describes a method to consistently allow the amplifier's built-in tuner to tune the attached antenna. Bear in my that my barefoot Xiegu G90 never had a tuning problem with the same antenna, but the XPA125B complained of high SWR on all HF bands. When the steps in this video are followed, it results in a consistent tuning procedure on every 10-160m band! Here are the basic steps. 1. Turn the PA function off and the Auto ATU on. 2. Change the radio's modulation to AM or FM (CW apparently cannot key from its mic PTT). 3. Increase the radio's power level to 5W. 4. Key the radio and simultaneously press and hold the ATU button for 2 secs to perform an autotune. Note a final acceptable SWR value. 5. Decrease the radio's RF output power to 1W and turn on the PA function on the amplifier. 6. Rekey the radio now in AM or FM and observe the PA output of 80-100W (depending on the band). 7. Return the radio's modulation to your normal operating modulation scheme. Too bad the manual is horrible. The steps to tune are convoluted. Maybe Radioditty can rewrite the manual like they did with the G90 to actually make sense. This would probably prevent a lot of unnecessary returns of what is probably the best HF 100W amp/ATU value on the market! ... show more

  • Disappointed going back to seller
Not the easiest to use. VERY sensitive to SWR and non consistent output. I have to set the power out to the amplifier to 5+ watts to get it to tune with the PA off. Then reduce power to 0.5 watts or less to stay under the 109 watt output it it shuts down. THEN the SWR changes and it shuts down to 2.0 SWR limit. I have tried many things and can’t get it to work without a bunch of fiddling. Won’t tune 24 MHZ at all on a 130 foot 9:1 random wire. Tuners in the x6100 and X6200 work first time every time on any band I choose with this antenna. Not impressed. 0.5 watts of drive give me 50 watts out give or take. If I raise the drive to 1 watt it either goes into power limit or SWR shutdown. I’m done. Going back to momma. ... show more
