This is an excellent easy flying super fun EDF. I would consider it as a pretty decent choice as a first EDF. This plane goes with me every day I go flying. I've logged 100's of flights since I got it over 4 months ago. I recommend the nose gear upgrade. It really takes the bouncing when taxiing. I wish it had retracts and a rudder. That is all from keeping this from being a perfect airplane. It has very good power even at field altitude over 5000ft. It's just a really good flying model airplane that I will have in my hanger as long as it is still available. ... show more

The paint is amazing for foam. Fit and finish is excellent. It's well thought out. Lots of room for your receiver and battery. It flies very nice! It's not prone to stalling but land it faster until you find it. It's made very well. I was surprised and will definitely buy more from Xfly!

Very happy with this purchase. This plane flys well no bad habits. Lands good too and that's a plus for learning. Huge cockpit plenty of room for 2600mAh packs. 4:30 flights with 20% reserve. Set mine up with AR630 safe receiver and NX 8+ transmitter. Not a speedster but does the job for learning and growing. I put extra Ultra trim decals on to help my old eyes see top and bottom of the plane. ... show more

    • Perfect first EDF jet.
This is a great first EDF jet. No rudder or flaps, just ailerons and elevator (bank and yank, we call it). Some assembly required. The wings are a tight fit to line up with the machined screw holes (common xfly design issue). The tail pieces are glued in place. I used a stabilizing receiver but I'd say not absolutely required. The most important consideration is to purchase high C-rating batteries. I used 80C, and I just ordered 120C (which is the highest I've ever seen but we'll see if they ever show up). I also flew with 35C that I use for propeller planes. The problem with 35C is throttle response; it takes a few seconds for the EDF to spin up compared to the 80C. If you are about to stall, or coming in to land high and slow and need to go around, the 35C battery will be slow to accelerate, just when you need it most. For that reason, try to find some high-C rated batteries. Otherwise, I'm super thrilled with this, my first EDF. Also, we have grass runway so I didn't install landing gear. Hand tossed (difficult because there are no finger grips molded into the body), belly landing (easy, but the bottom vent will collect grass). I had another pilot toss it for me. If I was alone, I'd recommend a SAFE receiver and launch it in SAFE mode. But I'll never toss it alone. Lastly, the bottom vent is NOT the air intake. It is to keep the motor cool. So it shouldn't suck up grass during the belly landing, but check the vent after each landing. ... show more

Flies easy on 4s 2200mah. Has plenty of power. Red tail makes it really easy to see. Sounds great and looks awesome. No rudder means it's pretty simple, not much to do in the way of aerobatics. Much better with the gear off. I've flown it on 3200mah as well. Fit and finish is excellent.
