Nice set of tools in a nice pouch. The only thing I don't like is the whip finisher. It has a different hook on the end and I just can't figure out how to use it.

Like many beginners, I didn't want to spend a lot of money to get started. These tools have been great! They do everything they are supposed to do. The hair stacker is a bit light, but still gets the job done. I don't like the style of whip finish tool this kit comes with (I like the type that allows the head to spin) so I just ordered a different one. Having 2 sets of scissors and 4 bobbin holders is really nice. The overall quality seems great; I don't anticipate needing to replace anything in the kit any time soon.

Been using about a year now. Has what you need. Several compliments on the hair stacker. Only complaint is the hackle pliers don't work. The jaws are miss formed and won't grab the hackle. Otherwise, a real nice kit.

Surprisingly nice for the price! Scissors are super sharp and tips meet perfectly. Finish on the metal is also nice. I like having multiple bobbin holders so I’m not perpetually changing out threads.

The scissors are sharp but non adjustable so you get what you get bent or not. The bobbin threader is frail and the wire can pop right out of the handle I just use fishing line. The hackle pliers are fine you may need to bend them straight. The bobbins are good, adjust tension by gently bending inwards or out. I personally do not like the style of whip finisher I got a loon and was much happier. sharp point utensil is …sharp… for the price of good scissors you get a bunch of equipment pest suited to a starter so they can learn what causes tools to fail or break. Like don’t use your scissors on wire. Take care of the ceramic tips on bobbins and don’t bend them to hard or fast. What is needed what is not. All in all It’s not bad, but it’s not great.

I'm just getting started with fly tying and this set has everything a beginner needs plus a few more things. The bobbin threader is great. The scissors are sharp. Glad I bought the set.

Once you get past all the blogs and self-made videos along with the personal opinions by all the "tool snobs", it becomes obvious that this "kit" is just right for a beginner. Nothing super fancy but functional and priced very reasonable. If you are a beginner, this set costs less than just one pair of fancy name brand scissors alone. Remember that it's all about "baby steps" at first, so do yourself a favor and start off with one of these kits. In the end you have lots of options but first you need to get started somewhere. This is a good place to begin.
