  • Just what I wanted
Edition: 120GB Elite Spring 2010 Bundle
I should warn you first, I'm not much of a gamer. I don't really have the time. I bought the XBOX 360 to watch Netflix instantly on my TV. I can tell you the system is fantastic. I can set up a queue and instantly watch anything that's available and the picture quality is amazing. There's no buffering time suddenly stopping the movie as you're watching it like you might sometimes get with YouTube. With Netflix, I can get rid of all my cable movie channels and save big bucks every month off my bill. I played BAD COMPANY 2 online and it was a lot of fun. The XBOX controller took some time getting used to, but soon it feels like an extension of your body. All in all, a great value for the money ... show more

  • Finally pulled the trigger and upgraded to the new 360
Edition: 120GB Elite Spring 2010 Bundle
And so far I'm glad I did. I've been an original xbox owner for about 7 yrs now and ever since the new 360 platform was introduced I have researched and have waited patiently. The first wave deterred me due to the problems of the overheating and the red ring disasters I read and heard about. Too many possible problems to dump $400+ on. For a brief moment or two I even thought about going to the PS3 platform. However, being familiar with xbox and the slew of games I own I wanted to really wait for another release from Microsoft. So my original machine would have to do for a little while. I almost bought the Holiday 360 bundle since the reviews were more promising with the "Jasper" fix and the release of COD Modern Warfare2 had me getting closer to pulling the trigger on one. But the fact that the 2 games included were lego batman and pure, I decided to wait once again. We also have a Wii with all those types of games like the lego batman for the kids that I wanted something for myself "Dad". Then last week I noticed [...] had this new Spring bundle with Forza 3 and the Halo 3 ODST paired with a $50 gift card so I added it to my cart and it was sitting there waiting for me to click on the purchase button. Once again though with the tax added the gift card was almost a wash. I walked away from the computer and thought I've been this patient I'll see what other retailers will do. With me being an Amazon freak, I was blown away that the next day I saw that Amazon had the same deal. But better! No tax, delivered to my door in 2 days with prime and I was set. I got the $50 Amazon gift card with the order, the Square trade 3 yr warranty (which was about $70 cheaper and 1 yr longer than the Best Buy warranty)was emailed within a few hours and 6 months financing with the Amazon card so I was happy. It was delivered Wednesday and I was off hooking it up and messing around with it like a gambler landing in Vegas for the first time! The hook up was obviously simple using the included composite cable and for now I am using an ethernet cable into my wireless router for the xbox live. Even though I have wireless here, the $80 wireless add on is not a necessity right now. One small gripe is the fact Microsoft can't include an HDMI cable or built in wireless but in the end it's all about money. So I included an HDMI cable with the same Amazon order for an extra $8, so not a huge deal. Comparing both hookups on my newer Samsung LCD HDTV it was a huge difference between the composite and HDMI. For less than $10, if you have HDMI, there's no reason not to hook it up that way. The included games are fantastic (they are not full versions of the games but that is stated up front)and the xbox live is sensational. With plenty of downloads and free demos to check out, it keeps one busy for a long time. The graphics are awesome and very realistic. With the xbox live update, I was playing some of my older games like Nascar 2003 that I really love and Star Wars Battlefront 2 and spongebob with my son. These older games worked perfect and was another reason I wanted to stick with Microsoft. These older games I have become addicted to are hard to let go of. My Netflix account was up and ready in the blink of an eye and looked great with no loss of streaming. This machine runs pretty quiet, even compared to the old system and has not been getting really hot. I haven't had it running non stop like the old one yet, but so far so good on the overheating issue. Still too early though. While I can't compare it to a Sony platform, I can say if you are like me and have waited to buy this machine, do it now and go ahead and take the leap. From what I have encountered so far, it is an outstanding machine and a ton of fun at a decent price. ... show more

  • Red Light of Death on Delivery
Edition: 120GB Elite Spring 2010 Bundle
We purchased the xBox 360 for our son's 13th birthday. We ordered it 2 weeks prior. The unit finally arrived (From Datavision) two days after his birthday. That wasn't the bad part. Upon opening the box and plugging in the unit, we were staring at the "RED LIGHT OF DEATH" on the front panel. This is apparently a known issue with the xBox units and is not fixable. Needless to Say, we (he) was devastated. Since his birthday had already passed, I decided to send back the unit from Datavision immediately and to go buy an xBox locally at Target. Turns out, I should have done that in the first place. I got the same exact bundle deal at Target for $50 less! So much for internet shopping. When I contacted Datavision, they said to send it back for a refund. What they meant was, send back the "Broken Unit we Sent you" and we will refund the price minus their shipping, minus my reshipping, and minus a 15% "restocking fee". I was less than happy. After many calls to them I finally got the supervisor to agree to not charging me for the restocking fee of nearly $45. However, it is now August 1st and it's been almost a month and I have yet to get my refund for the returned unit. I won't be buying online again through Amazon...at least not if it involves Datavision. ... show more
