  • Great product, simple setup.
In short: It's cheap, simple to hook up, and easy to get going quickly with little hassle and etc. Simply, it's quiet, and has a pretty decent build. It has an hdmi output, but comes with no cord. Its HDD is upgradeable. If the games are not installed on to an optional hard drive, or a flash drive (games can be installed onto usb flash drives) the disc spinning noise is extremely loud. The techy part: Graphics depend on your monitor/televisions ability to upscale, on higher resolution televisions/monitors the graphics are greatly dependent on the upscaling ability of your display. If you are dissatisfied with the produced graphics, adjusting color settings, and input options (Standard, Intermediate, Expanded, RGB, ycb in specifics) can provide some resolve for aliasing. It wont make too much of a difference for those with lower resolution displays. Alternatively, if you are tech savvy, this model can be upgraded with specific western digital notebook HDDs; essentially a cheaper method to create a 250gig xbox with 4gb flash memory (theoretically better than the premium model). One just needs to purchase the correct hard drive, flash a downloadable firmware, and mount in an optional enclosure (which i recommend for the fitting to be flush). If your not up for that, you can purchase one from Microsoft ready to go, for a bit more money. In comparison to the PS3, you wont see much difference in graphics. To be specific; specific games have higher resolutions on each console (eg. ff13 higher res on ps3, black ops, crysis 2 higher res on xbox). This means specific games are better suited to specific consoles, however, you must possess a good eye to recognize the differences. Additionally, if you are not running at a high resolution display, the difference is nonexistent. So essentially it really comes down to your preference, there is no major difference, truthfully. Summation: The graphics don't really compare to a quality computer, but between consoles there is very little difference. For those who are less tech savvy or looking for simplicity, or price, this is quite solid and a great upgrade from the previous generation. ... show more

  • 4gig 360 S
The new design is incredible. The look, size, just everything is great. For all the people that say "its just as hot if not hotter than the regular 360" Well DUH it is on a single die. That heat sink is going to heat up with the same amount of heat as the old 360.. just on a single die instead of two. BUT it still runs cooler even tho it seems hot. Unless you do a real heat test you cannot say it really does run hotter... because it does NOT. It almost runs 10c cooler sometimes. New touch design I do like (even the little beeps it gives you :D ) I really like how they put the fan on the side making air come in from the top and out of the side, way better design (you don't have to worry about it being against the wall anymore) I like the 4gig better because it is matte, I had a 250gig and sold it because I did not enjoy the dust, prints, etc it attracted. I do believe that spending $40 more for a 4gig and buying a 250gig HDD separate is the way to go. Of course no Blu-Ray even tho that would be great since that the reason I own a PS3, but thats Sony not MS. Its not going to happen although we wish it would. I think the controller that comes with the console is actually more 'better' (bad grammar on purpose) I just like the D-Pad it feels to me that they have change it some. And I like how the battery packs actually fit well in the controller now and the new Chrome guide button. Built in wifi is a no duh, why didn't they do that in the beginning... But is great and its N band. Only negatives.. the power supply now has a fan in it, it is louder than the console itself if the game you are playing is installed on the hard drive. BUT that is not a bad thing really because the PSU needs a good fan. And that is just nit pic (my PC and PS3 are just as loud if not louder) Great console wish they would have started out with this good of a console from the start. ... show more

  • Microsoft Hardware is disguisting
Let me begin by saying it was great while it worked. They have the best online play out there. However, my xbox worked like it was supposed to for a year and 3 months. Then the open tray error began..I'm conveniently right past my 1 year manufacturer warranty and Microsoft insists that I pay $100 to send it in and have it fixed. I just bought this! My Sega Genesis works and worked since 95. Guess I can get 2 decades out of some systems but not 2 years from something made in todays time frame. Its a shame. I have to beat on my xbox for it to play nowadays and 9 times out of 10, IT STILL DOESN'T WORK! Meanwhile if I break into it and attempt to fix it myself, they wont fix it for me. I did some thinking and realized that most successful electronics companies are successful by staying in their lane: meaning they stick to hardware OR software. NEVER BOTH. Only one that does both is Apple and they were nonexistent from 90 till early/mid 2000s. BUT ANYWAYS point is, I now know what to expect with hardware from Microsoft and I have learned my lesson. Think about it: our smartphones may rely on Android to power it and be the operating system but motorola, samsung, htc remain the manufacturer of the device. Without google, the samsung instinct would still somehow be considered a smartphone. Whenever Google decides to manufacture a phone it ends up horribly. Windows is the software, while HP, dell, or Asus remains manufacturer. I honestly thought the ring of fire/death issue was over and done with, but I see that if it's not one thing, its another. I gave them a chance, but back to Sony I go! BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK! ... show more

  • Xbox 360 4GB review
Well, I had a gen 1 xbox 360 since 2007 and that lasted me until around late January of 2011. The only reason that lasted so long was because I had fixed the RROD problem twice with the penny trick so I've had quite some frustration with the old one but I did manage to make it live 4 years so I'm going to compare this xbox 360 with the older one. This one I got in late Febuary, and so far I'm pleased with it. I haven't had it long enough to report any malfunctions yet but it seems as if they made have improved the cooling system significantly compared to the gen 1 xbox 360 which should mean a longer lifespan. A forewarning, don't put anything in front of the vents on the side of the xbox that the DVD drive is closer to. Those vents get real hot and a friend of mine put a game in a case over those vents and it nearly melted that CD and thus ruined it. The new buttons on the xbox for power and eject are really touch sensitive and have a loud DING noise to let you know they are pressed so I do like those improvements. The built in wifi is an added bonus and it seems to work real well (although only a couple of times have I been disconnected randomly, yet I'm not sure if that is the modem's fault of the xbox. What I don't like about it is the new hard drives. If you have an older HDD from a gen 1 or 2 xbox 360, they won't work without some "modifications". All you have to do is remove the case that is on the small HDD and it will fit into the new xbox 360's HDD slot. But this is really annoying and unnecessary. It just means that if you want to play online, some games won't work unless you spend 100 + dollars on a new HDD. You will need the larger HDD if you plan on making this system your main gaming system. It also didn't come with a 1 month XBOX Live Gold subscription card like the official xbox website claims it should have (which isn't a problem to me, just letting you know in advanced). Pros (Compared to the older xbox 360): -The new buttons -Overall the system seems sturdier than the old xbox. -It is smaller and looks cooler in my opinion. -It comes with built in wifi which is such a nice bonus over the old xbox 360. -What appears to be better cooling Cons: -The older xbox HDDs don't work without removing the case on them. -Didn't come with a 1 month subscription card to XBOX Live Gold. Overall I'm pleased with it and the cons don't cost this a star in my opinion. I do play on computers far more often than xbox so I'm not as picky as some people are. ... show more

  • Just Plain Beautiful
The 360 slim is an amazing piece of machinery. Wither all the vents it doesn't over heat and it's ridiculously silent for an xbox. It's barely audible when you lay it down on it's larger side but the CD drive does make some noise when you put it on the vertical side. The 4GB memory card is good enough to get started but if you want xbox live with all the full features it's best to get a hard drive. Don't get the overpriced slim hard drive from Microsoft. If you have an old 360 just remove the 2.5" hard drive from the case (You'll need a T6 and T10 torque screw to do so) and go buy one of the cases for the new slim on Amazon or some other site, it's really cheap. Xbox hast tons of great games to play (Halo, Gears of War, Ghost Recon, the number of games are endless) and if you like to game online, Xbox Live is THE place to be. Best system ever for hours of muliplayer ownage. And the Kinect is a revolutionary invention. It is light years beyond the Wiimote and combined with Xbox live the possibilities are endless. I'm an engineering and I know a revolutionary camera technology when I see it. The Kinect is precise and accurate. People who watched Minority report, remember that scene where Tom Cruise is moving windows on the screen with his bare hands. That's what I'm talking about except in Minority Report Cruise had gloves with IR on the fingertips. The Kinect doesn't need any of that. It can detect all your movements and speed, opening up pandora's box of immersive gameplay. Wait till Microsoft releases more Kinect Games on Xbox lives. The movement will be just like what happened when Apple started releasing apps on the Apps store. Do yourself a favor and look into getting an Xbox 360 slim. It is a great investment to make and what better place to start than on Amazon. ... show more

  • Great console, but with a few drawbacks
The Xbox 360 4GB console is a fun gaming system, even for someone who is still in love with the classics of the 80s and 90s, (Sega CD, SNES, PS1). The 360 is very gamer-friendly with lots of online capabilities and user-friendly interface. Coupled with great graphics, the 360 is a fun console overall, raking a 8.5 out of 10 in my scale (10 being the best). But RPG gamers beware: the better machine for RPG games is the PS3, not the Xbox360. The PS3 scores tons of anime-style RPGs (Atelier series, Hyperdimension, and others) and plenty of "Realistic RPG games too, like Mass Effect. Thus, the PS3 defeats the xBox360 in that regard. Also, the 360's controller is much more capable then the PS3, as it has more buttons. But as such, it is much harder to learn to control and much more complicated during action games then the PS3. One issue with the controller functions is that not only you have "bumpers" on the controller, you also have triggers and "fat fingering" happens if you are not paying attention or are getting shot at on Battlefield 3. The controller also doesn't have rechargeable batteries, which means that you either by a Niko rechargeable battery system for $30 or you will be buying batteries on a weekly basis depending on how much you game. The controller also has the most annoying "feature", which is you have to push down-and-in a direction to be able to sprint in games like Battlefield 3. The controller is certainly my least fav feature of the 360 for sure. The other major drawback of the 4GB version is that because I do NOT download games on other systems, I thought "go for the smallest internal HDD of them all and save money". WELL, it turns out that, many game shave "high def updates", like Battlefield 3 at 1.5 GB of updates, which means that my 4GB HDD is not capable of taking it along with other game saves. I got an xBox360 Flash Drive, but that only helped to alleviate that problem a bit. To be able to do the "high def updates", I actually have to buy an ext HDD, which is at least $100, so watch out for things like that. Additionally, the Kinect system is a joke and you should stay away from that gadget. I have tried and it is not worth the money for sure. The Wii is the way to go if you want to control things with movement, so keep that in mind (oh and you might want to wait for the Wii U coming in a couple of months in 2012, since it will have reverse compatibility with the original Wii). :) Finally, despite the few notes above, the 360 offers some cool features like wireless controller with awesome range and capabilities, touch-based buttons on the console, quiet and powerful CPU cooling fan, many fun online and "cloud-based" features, like friends in voice chat and others. It also has "fun features" like avatar, create your online profile, and more. It is a powerful gaming system, but overall, I would go with a PS3 if I had a do-over. Consider the PS3 and upcoming Wii U carefully before making the switch. The 360 in a 4GB HDD is of lower cost then other systems (except the Wii, which is becoming obsolete by Christmas of 2012), so there is an upside there as well. Overall, a fun system, my friends all play Battlefield 3 on it, so I got the same system, but if I had a do-over, I would go PS3 for sure, despite its higher price for the console and game. A 8.5 out of 10 console overall. There are better options out there. ... show more

  • Best Consonle's Game MS Ever Have Released...
First of all let's be honest I am not a hardcore gamer, I'm just a regular gamer, so this console and the internal 4gb that comes with plus a 16gb pen drive is enough store for me (at least now), later on I will add a S hard disk when they came available, I just love the design of this console it's nice a little bit smaller compare with other versions, and the black mate is fantastic, I don't like the shinny finish on the S 250GB Version and all the fingerprint that it can gather, this machine it's soundless I could barely heart it, it's just quiet and does not get hot like previous version that some of my friends and family members own, it's built in wi fi connection and doesn't consume a lot of energy like preceding version, and of course it's affordable: this a great opportunity for people like me who doesn't live and in the U.S. And has to pay 36% taxes on purchase over USD$200.00 this is USD$199.99 purchase so I didn't have to pay any tax, I was just waiting for a price's drop like this to take advantage of it so this one came in handy, I would also like to buy a PS3 Slim if Sony comes out with a price's drop like this, so I could have both systems, and whenever a game comes out like Gears Of War or Metal Gear (which are my favorites) I will have where to play them so I won't be limited for games' exclusivity. I highly recommend this console to everyone looking for the best 360's hardware with an excellent price. ... show more
