  • Good Quality, Multiple Unlocking Methods, Priced Right, Easy Installation
Style: Palm Recognition Smart Deadbolt Lock
After researching many similar products, I settled on this door lock. Why? The features offered are second to none. I liked the idea of palm reading to unlock the door. The option to also use a code or use a key was appealing. Installation: It was easy to install as long as you have some knowledge of how to install a door handset and/or deadbolt. I installed it on an existing door that already had a deadbolt and handset making the installation easy. I work slow so the full installation took me about 45 minutes, not including programming. Price: The price was just right! High enough that I had confidence the quality would be there and priced a little below the competition. Instructions: The instructions were clear and easy to follow except for how to program it. At first, I didn't find any programming instructions and then realized that it must be accomplished using an app. (Later I noticed on the last page of the installation instructions a note to use the app to program it. I'd suggest to the manufacturer that the note regarding the app be printed more prominently.) Once I installed the app on my phone, programming was simple and quick. While there are plenty of programming options, I didn't find them to be so numerous that it seemed overwhelming. The app steps you through one at a time. Easy! Conclusion: While it's only been installed one day, it seems to work fine. We really like having three methods to unlock the door: Palm Read, Enter numeric code, Use a key. Can't get any simpler and flexible than that. I will provide an update in a few weeks but, in the meantime, I believe I'll purchase a second one for another door. Yep, I am very happy with the Wyze Palm Lock! ... show more

  • Great For Wyze Ecosystem. Palm Scanner Works. Has Backup Battery.
Style: Palm Recognition Smart Deadbolt Lock
I have a few Wyze cameras and sensors so I was already in the ecosystem. I really wanted a touchless biometric lock for my door so when the Wyze Palm Lock went on sale, I was anxious to try it out. The installation was straightforward since I was replacing a deadbolt. However, you need to make sure the new bolt slides freely into the strike pocket. The motor sliding the bolt is strong but doesn't have as much muscle as your wrist. If the bolt encounters a lot of resistance, it won't completely seat into the pocket. A little help from rotary tool cleaned up the pocket and the bolt swings back and forth with impunity. To be honest, the hardest part of the installation was plugging the external half of the lock into the internal half of the lock. The deadbolt I replaced uses the same style key so I can have my other deadbolts rekeyed to match. In the other direction, Wyze says the keyway is replaceable and can be rekeyed but if the Wyze works for daily use, I probably won't carry the new key and Wyze-ify my remaining deadbolts. Programming everyone's palms into the door was trivial. The only thing I'll note is that you should program everyone's palm in the same context as if the person was trying to open the door. I like some of the smart features like delayed auto-lock and after hours auto-locking. These are really good when everyone's worried about 10 things at the same time and you've come home to an unlocked door on more than one occasion. Wi-fi is needed for notifications and remote operation but I can verify the biometric and code functions only need battery power to work. The main battery is the same as what's used in their wi-fi cameras so you just plug it into USB-C power to charge. There's a backup that I assume is charged from the main battery so you still get functionality if you're charging the main battery. There's a small learning curve using the lock. For example, the palm recognition is fast but you have to give the Wyze time to retract the bolt before trying to open the door. If you open the door while it's trying to unlock, you'll have to try again. Also, palm position is important - it's why I reprogrammed everyone's palm as if they were trying to unlock the door. So far, I am impressed with the lock. There's no fear of someone seeing my pass code with binoculars. I'm waiting for colder weather and varying conditions to determine how well the palm-vein recognition works but am so far pretty happy with its functionality. ... show more

  • Best deadbolt choice I have ever made!
Style: Palm Recognition Smart Deadbolt Lock
*Update* I switched over to Super Battery Saver mode cause my screen door was apparently causing the battery to drain at a fast rate. Fast, being 1.5 months to a full charge. So not ALL that fast. I now tap the lock face to wake it up and scan my palm. I have actually found that it responds and reads my palm much faster than the default mode of the lock “looking for a palm” before scanning. Best deadbolt system I have ever had. Love this deadbolt! My autistic kids are able to use it. That’s why I initially bought it. Love the features and no, you don’t have to pay for anything or get a subscription. It responds quickly to palm unlocks as well as keypad unlocks. You can also lock and unlock from the app and from Alexa. I would have preferred a stainless type model, but the black looks pretty awesome. It is super simple to setup on the app and add your palms and codes. Lots of app features. I have a storm door and I think that probably accounts for a main battery life of 1.5 months on saver mode. So I will probably switch to super saver mode. All that means is I will have to tap the face before unlocking. Love the back up battery that takes over automatically while I charge the main. Actual installation was pretty easy, even for a non mechanically inclined guy like myself. There was a deadbolt there before, so I didn’t have to cut or measure or anything like that. Absolutely worth the money! ... show more
