Love this thing works amazingly

  • Excellent
Really unbelievable stands side-by-side with a gas powered. Would highly recommend it. I Drilled 8 holes on a single charge and still had half battery life left.. was not digging in sand soil. It was clay, not hard, clay, damp, wet clay, but still if you’ve ever dog through clay dry or wet you know what I’m talking about. Again, I highly recommend this product.. ... show more

  • Worx great!
Typical WORX quality! This thing digs like a homesick gopher. I already have several WORX tools, so I didn't need the batteries or charger and saved a little money. I hit a tree root and the protection breaker shut it off. It has reverse if you need to back out. I eased back in at low speed and it cut thru the root easily. I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • With the 4 amp, hour batteries you do not get the advertised 38 holes per charge
It is advertised to drill up to 38 holes per charge. I have never been able to get more than six holes per charge. I contacted WORX and they sent me a new set of batteries but still do not get 38 holes per charge and I’m using a 6 inch auger instead of eight that came with it. I will continue to use it for the convenience and the reverse function to help back it out of the hole after getting stuck. ... show more

  • Digs the holes!
As someone who frequently tackles outdoor projects, especially in the challenging terrain of Missoula, Montana, a reliable post hole digger is an absolute necessity. Having previously struggled with manual diggers and the maintenance of gas-powered alternatives, I decided to try the WORX Nitro 40V Brushless Cordless Earth Auger (WG865). Initial Impressions & Setup: The auger arrived well-packaged, and assembly was surprisingly straightforward. The brushless motor immediately suggested a more efficient and durable tool than typical brushed models. What struck me first was the substantial feel of the unit without being overly heavy or cumbersome. It did take my husband and son a little longer than expected to put it together but they got the job done. Being battery-operated, there was no fussing with fuel mixes or pull cords, a definite plus. Power & Performance in Rocky Missoula Soil: This is where the WORX Nitro truly shines, especially for my needs. My vacation property in Missoula is notorious for its rocky, compacted soil – a real challenge for any digging equipment. I primarily used this auger for installing new fence posts, a task that often involves hitting numerous rocks. The "equivalent to a 45 CC Gas-Auger" claim isn't just marketing hype. This electric auger tackled the stubborn Missoula earth better than we expected. While it's certainly not immune to hitting large rocks, the brushless motor provided consistent torque and enough power to either push through smaller stones or, more importantly, quickly back out when a larger rock was encountered, preventing bogging down. The reverse function is a lifesaver for freeing the bit from tight spots. Ease of Use & Cordless Convenience: The cordless design is great. No more tangled extension cords or the fumes and noise of a gas engine. This freedom of movement allowed me to work across various parts of my yard without interruption. The ergonomic handles provide a comfortable grip, and despite its power, the tool is manageable, reducing fatigue compared to manual digging. The absence of gas fumes and significantly lower noise levels also made the job much more pleasant, both for me and my neighbors. Battery Life & Charging: The included 40V battery and charger held up well. For a project involving multiple fence posts, I found the battery life to be sufficient, often completing several holes before needing a recharge. Having extra batteries on hand would be ideal for larger, all-day projects, but for typical home use, the single battery proved adequate, charging relatively quickly. Overall Verdict: The WORX Nitro 40V Brushless Cordless Earth Auger has exceeded my expectations. Its ability to power through the challenging, rocky soil of Missoula for tasks like digging fence post holes is truly commendable. The cordless convenience, powerful brushless motor, and thoughtful design make it an indispensable tool for us. If you're tired of the back-breaking work of manual post hole digging or the maintenance of gas-powered augers, this electric alternative is a fantastic, reliable, and surprisingly powerful investment. It genuinely makes post hole digging a less daunting task. ... show more

  • Save your back!!
We've all been there. You need to install a new mailbox post or another gate in your fence line. Back in the day, I wouldn't hesitate to grab my trusty ol' post hole digger and pry bar/tamper and get to work. But honestly, I'm just getting too old for that kind of thing! Enter the Worx Nitro. This thing is a beast. I had my doubts that it could handle the dry, rocky soil of Nevada, but I was proven wrong. One thing about electric motors... they can deliver a heck of a lot of torque. Rocks can still be a problem for any method, but with the reverse setting on this little monster, you can just back out and try for a better spot. We install a lot of electric fencing for beehives and chicken coops, and this auger has been a life-(and back) saver. More than enough power to get maybe 10 holes dug (depending on how rocky) and with a couple of extra batteries, you could keep on cranking them out. I love not having to carry gas and oil around too. It is very beefy, yet not so heavy as to be unwieldy. Do yourself and your back a favor, you can thank me later. ... show more
