  • Digging Made Easy
I recently used this auger for setting up a new fence, and it really impressed me. The 8" bit powered through the soil with ease, handling everything from soft dirt to some stubborn clay. The two-speed settings were handy—low for digging and high for tougher spots. Plus, the reverse function made pulling the bit out of tight spots a breeze. The tool is surprisingly lightweight, especially considering its power. The ergonomic handle made it comfortable to use for extended periods, and the anti-kickback feature provided added safety. I was able to dig multiple holes on a single charge, and the brushless motor ensured consistent performance throughout. Overall, it's a solid choice for anyone looking to make post hole digging less of a chore. ... show more

  • AWESOME battery powered Auger
So many great things to say about this auger. First, super easy to assemble. The two handles go into place, use the 8 included bolts, tighten them, and done with the engine part. The drill has a pin that you pull, insert into the motor hole, reinsert the pin, and done. Comes with two batteries and a dual charger so you can charge both at the same time. Has a battery charge indicator on each battery and on the machine. This thing is a beast, drills straight in in seconds. I will admit I tried using it in high grass at first and the grass wrapped around and made it useless. Once I figured to scrape away the grass it drills holes in seconds. Super fast. Much lighter than a gas auger and much easier than digging with a shovel. No issues when using and then pulled the pin, removed the drill, and easy to transport and store. Great value for the cost and from a respected brand. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Digs the holes!
As someone who frequently tackles outdoor projects, especially in the challenging terrain of Missoula, Montana, a reliable post hole digger is an absolute necessity. Having previously struggled with manual diggers and the maintenance of gas-powered alternatives, I decided to try the WORX Nitro 40V Brushless Cordless Earth Auger (WG865). Initial Impressions & Setup: The auger arrived well-packaged, and assembly was surprisingly straightforward. The brushless motor immediately suggested a more efficient and durable tool than typical brushed models. What struck me first was the substantial feel of the unit without being overly heavy or cumbersome. It did take my husband and son a little longer than expected to put it together but they got the job done. Being battery-operated, there was no fussing with fuel mixes or pull cords, a definite plus. Power & Performance in Rocky Missoula Soil: This is where the WORX Nitro truly shines, especially for my needs. My vacation property in Missoula is notorious for its rocky, compacted soil – a real challenge for any digging equipment. I primarily used this auger for installing new fence posts, a task that often involves hitting numerous rocks. The "equivalent to a 45 CC Gas-Auger" claim isn't just marketing hype. This electric auger tackled the stubborn Missoula earth better than we expected. While it's certainly not immune to hitting large rocks, the brushless motor provided consistent torque and enough power to either push through smaller stones or, more importantly, quickly back out when a larger rock was encountered, preventing bogging down. The reverse function is a lifesaver for freeing the bit from tight spots. Ease of Use & Cordless Convenience: The cordless design is great. No more tangled extension cords or the fumes and noise of a gas engine. This freedom of movement allowed me to work across various parts of my yard without interruption. The ergonomic handles provide a comfortable grip, and despite its power, the tool is manageable, reducing fatigue compared to manual digging. The absence of gas fumes and significantly lower noise levels also made the job much more pleasant, both for me and my neighbors. Battery Life & Charging: The included 40V battery and charger held up well. For a project involving multiple fence posts, I found the battery life to be sufficient, often completing several holes before needing a recharge. Having extra batteries on hand would be ideal for larger, all-day projects, but for typical home use, the single battery proved adequate, charging relatively quickly. Overall Verdict: The WORX Nitro 40V Brushless Cordless Earth Auger has exceeded my expectations. Its ability to power through the challenging, rocky soil of Missoula for tasks like digging fence post holes is truly commendable. The cordless convenience, powerful brushless motor, and thoughtful design make it an indispensable tool for us. If you're tired of the back-breaking work of manual post hole digging or the maintenance of gas-powered augers, this electric alternative is a fantastic, reliable, and surprisingly powerful investment. It genuinely makes post hole digging a less daunting task. ... show more

  • Easy assembly and works well
The media could not be loaded. This electric cordless auger assembled easily in about twenty minutes using hand tools (I used my own tools but there is a Allen wrench and little open end wrench included). The auger included two batteries and a dual battery charger, and both batteries charged up in about thirty minutes. Using the auger is simple; position it where you want to make a hole, set the drilling speed to high or low, grab the handles firmly and press the trigger switch. Once you have run the auger to the desired depth, release the trigger and set the speed / direction switch to reverse and press the trigger again to retrieve the auger from the hole. Nice torque and power for making holes to plant small shrubs and flowers, which is what I use it for... Makes quick work when planting multiple shrubs. ... show more

  • WORX Nitro 40V Brushless Cordless Earth Auger
This unit takes a little while to put together and honestly might be easier with two people (I did all of it alone except the auger bit because I needed help to take it off and reposition it to fasten it on). That being said, the instruction manual leaves a little bit to be desired but is adequate. Once it was assembled it was very easy to use and works like a dream. Granted I did very shallow holes since I was merely testing it rather than digging to plant something or set a post or anything, but those hole went very quickly and smoothly. I just wish I'd had this when I had to replace the post on my mailbox and had to dig it with post hole diggers. With this, it is likely it would have taken longer to get the auger to where I needed it than to actually dig the hole, it does a great job and when I checked the price of additional batteries if required, they were a decent price for what you get with this equipment. ... show more

  • One larger auger!
This cordless auger can easily trench through some soft soil. It took just a couple of minutes to do so, and even cut through some roots. This tool is quite large as is the drill bit. Both batteries need to be used at once. It does require a bit of assembly, which was quite easy. The unit has a low, high and reverse speed. Not having a cord get caught, is a huge bonus to this tool. So far, super impressed! I have a few other tools from this company. ... show more
