I love this shelf unit! First, it was packed perfectly. The only way this could be damaged during shipping is if it fell off the truck and was run over by another truck. Spacers between the shelves, individually wrapped tubes, and everything zip tied tightly together to prevent any vibrations that would scratch the paint. Second, assembly is so easy! They recommend two people but I did it myself with no problem whatsoever. It took me about 20 min but most of that was deciding where I wanted to place the shelves. You snap the clips onto the poles with the arrow facing up and there are numbers on the tubes to ensure you locate them all at the same level. Then you simply lower the shelf onto the clips and push down, or use a mallet as suggested. Repeat with all 5 shelves and you're basically done. There are adjustable ends on the bottom of the poles to ensure a balanced shelf on an uneven floor. The entire unit only weighs a few pounds while being able to support over 300 pounds on each shelf. It's really quite amazing. And finally, it's just as easy to completely disassemble or relocate the shelves if ever needed. 100% satisfaction!!

This type of shelving is the workhorse of shelving. They are designed to hold a lot of weight (150 lbs/per shelf per the manufacturer). One reviewer said these shelves have limitations because they are not wood, so you can't put small items because it won't be stable. These are not display or book shelves. They are for HEAVY items, which usually are NOT small. That does not make the lack of wood shelves a limitation. One needs to match the intended use with product design. You wouldn't buy a pair of pants if you were looking for shorts and then say that the pants have limitations because the legs are too long... I put a box filled with laundry detergent bottles on the lower 2 shelves and the shelves are holding just fine. On the 2nd shelf, I put the detergent/softener, etc. that I use all the time to do laundry, and on the top shelf, I put some light items. I didn't have anything in mind for the 4 hooks that come with the rack, but then I realized that I could hang my laundry basket on one of the hooks. Works GREAT. These shelves are well made and sturdy. They are the smaller version of the larger size racks that you might have seen in some retail stores that are used to hold heavy items like bags of flour, pallets of chocolate and large, heavy cookware. Because these shelves are smaller, the metal is thinner, but still very sturdy. Even assembled, it is easy to pick up and move it to where you want it to go. It also comes with 2 extra sets of thingees that hold the shelves up. Tips: 1. For easy assembly, follow the instructions. 2. Before putting the legs through the first shelf, put 1 set of plastic thingees on each leg to hold the first shelf. Then insert each leg into the holes in the shelf. Do not put the shelf all the way down to the plastic thing. Once you have all 4 legs in, stand the legs up and then push the shelf in place. Once you put the first shelf on, it won't be so difficult. There are LINES on the legs so you can put the plastic things at the right level. About every foot, there are TWO lines close together, so that you can put the plastic things relative to the 2 lines instead of counting all the way from the last shelve. Always put 4 sets of plastic things on the legs BEFORE putting the shelf on. 3. Always put the most heavy items on the bottom. These shelves are tall and narrow in depth, so putting heavy items on top will make it more likely to tip, especially if you live in earthquake country. 4. If you are putting items that are liquid that might spill/drip, you can put a layer of plastic or other protective material first to protect the metal. 5. If you are in earthquake country, you can put a bungee cord around the shelving to keep items from falling off the shelf during shaking. I did that for the items on the 2nd shelf since I did not put those in a box. Otherwise, you should probably attach the shelves to the wall. At $69.99, the price seems competitive, but you have to do your own homework on that...

I really needed a shelf and this seemed like a good option. Nope. One of the shelves came bent. That's not what you want with a new item but it doesn't impair function. Is not terribly difficult to put together but there are issues. The posts have numbers on them to help you put the brackets in the corresponding spots, however they are difficult to see. I tried getting all the post to face the same direction but they kept turning and were all over the place. I had to keep walking all around, twisting and using a flashlight to find the numbers. Granted, that is good when you are not putting it together, you don't want the numbers jumping out at you in everyday life. The biggest problem is that the brackets/stoppers you place on the posts to put the shelf on, don't clip. Many kept falling off as I was trying to get the shelf in place and then it was hard to find the number it was supposed to be on when the other holes were already in. You had to bang that part of the shelf back off. Even worse though, is that the shelves don't sit level. The holes in the shelf are supposed to sit over the brackets and be banged down to make it level. No! Even when following the directions, some brackets were inside the hole properly while others wouldn't slide down the last 1/2"‐3/4". They kept bouncing up. Because of that, the shelves do not sit level. There are cheaper shelves out there, I should have gone with one of those. I thought this would be better because it was more expensive.

For being a wire rack I was surprised by how sturdy this was. It's very lightweight compared to some shelving units, and claims that it can hold up to 750lbs. I don't have that much weight on it, but I could see it holding up to that claim with how stable it feels. It's easy to put together, and I was able to do it with 1 person. Each leg has a leveling foot on it, allowing you to put the shelf in almost any area in the house/garage. The included hooks were a nice addition as well, allowing you to hang even more stuff from one of the shelves. I wouldn't recommend overloading the hooks with extremely heavy objects from the upper shelf though, as I think there's still the possibility of the shelf falling over if you hang too much weight. Overall though, this is a great shelving unit for the price, and can easily hold a lot of items without collapsing. It's worked out great for helping organize some stuff in my garage!
