  • Strong motor
I love the quiet soft start, strong router, better than Porter cable, nothing wrong with the Porter cable, this motor is so much better, great job!!!

  • Well made
This is a great upgrade for my router table. Powerful, smooth, and reasonably quiet (for a router). I am using it with a Kreg Router Lift. Easy change from my old router...

  • Great router for heavy duty use in a table
I have been using the PC router for over a decade as it can hold up well to the heavy use. Mine did wear out and finding parts is not easy anymore. For this one as it appears to have the best rep for heavy use. The new collet is light years ahead of the PC collet and can handle larger bits with ease. It has been much safer with the 2” bits I use. ... show more

  • I guess I was expecting decent
TLDR: great when it worked, worked for short time, and now it's junk motor worse than one you could find in a swamp after Katherina. when it worked it worked well, but.... 2 months in problems start. the brushes wear quickly and not evenly, only replacements are ok woodpeckers site for 6$ with 30$ shipping (unless backorder) variable speed knob failed, soft start is nice, but the power fluctuation makes you uneasy will get dusty on the inside, vibrations will break internal plastic components... how the hell is this unit so bad? maybe I just got this unlucky but unless something changes you couldn't pay me enough to buy another SpineRite unit. ... show more

  • Power to spare
Very smooth running. So much quieter than a normal router. Lots of power.

  • Fast shipping! Fits perfectly in my 4.2” router lift.
Haven’t used it enough to speak to quality but so far so good. Shipping speed was quick, fit perfectly in my lift which only accepts 4.2”. So far seems like a good replacement for the old porter cable.

  • Strong and light but a little skinny...
The media could not be loaded. So I own a 4'6"x 97' 3 axis cnc router that came with the PC 7518. 4 years and sets of brushes later, it's due for an overhaul. I bought this one due to the reviews. First of all, it is not quite the 4.2" diameter as advertised. Its a good .010" smaller and would not stay stable in my carriage. To remedy this, I used two leaves from a feeler gauge, .006" and .004", and tucked them between the motor and carriage. That solved that problem. Next, the cord is quite short at 36". I had to buy an appliance cord to reach the power supply of the cnc table. Upon dismounting the PC, I found the Spinright to be considerably lighter than the PC. My initial thought was that it'll be easier on the x and z servos and the report from said servos was observable. Upon mounting and running I found the soft start to be slightly disconcerting as it takes a little while to get going but does get up to speed nicely. Ultimately, I have found the Spinrite to be a superior motor even to the PC when new. It does not bog nearly as much as the PC ever did, (a function of the soft start mechanism) doesn't get nearly as warm, has a tighter sound and i really appreciate the ER20 collets. There's much more variety in collet availability alone without having to get adapters. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase. Day 2, 6 hours of cut time in hard and soft materials with a new bit. UPDATE; The motor started stuttering under no load and will no longer power up at all. Ive been using it an average of two hours a day 5 days a week. When I shut it off an back on again it would operate fine for the rest of the job but now nothing. I have reached out to wood peckers and anticipate contact in the few days. BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE!! They contacted me early the next morning and have a new one on the way!! 2nd update. 2nd one burned up brushes WAY quick. These take forever to spin down, like well broke in bearings. The brushes seem to float loosely in their slots leading to angular wear and then failure. They're also shorter than PC and the Bora motor. Interestingly, the brushes for the Bora and the PC are practically identical, hmmm... I just installed the Bora. Its tighter and doesn't whine bits like the SR. Also didnt require shimming like the SR... TBC ... show more

  • Brushes wear out quick!
The router performs well, until the brushes wear out. I ran 2 of them, each in different CNC routers. The brushes wore down to nubs within 4-5 days. Good luck finding replacement brushes when this happens... These are really expensive paperweights until new brushes arrive, that are on backorder for 4-6 weeks. ... show more
