I have only had it for a short time, got it stuck once but thankfully got it back. The orange rubber over the magnet won’t last long, but everything else is great. I tied the rope onto the magnet and use the carabiner clip to wrap the rope around something so I know I won’t lose it when I toss the magnet in the water. We ordered a different magnet as well but love this one so much we plan to order another one. Only thing that I don’t like is the orange rubber over magnet cause it won’t stay on. But that is nothin major, it’s more for looks I guess.

This magnet is very sturdy and so is the rope; while I was magnet fishing the other day, the magnet got caught on some rocks that I didn't know were at the lake side and it took a Dodge 1 ton diesel to pull out the magnet and I didn't lose the thing! The rope and the clip held and there isn't a single problem with the magnet! I'm so glad I bought this kit and not a wimpy one, otherwise I might have lost my magnet!

Doesn't pick up anything. Not really meant for dragging. I can use it for work though if I drop tools in the cellar. I'd say if it was called a retrieval magnet it would've gotten an extra star

Needed something strong enough to pick up the roofing nails heading in the grass around my house and it works great for that. The magnet is strong enough to pick it up and keep them attached to the magnet while you continue to drag the magnet through the grass. As a bonus, we can do some very light magnet fishing when we go camping. Have not tried that yet but that's what it was made for so we will definitely be trying it to get our money's worth once all the nails are out of our yard lol.

The kids (in their 30's) and I have had so much fun with this magnet! It is really strong and we have found lots of stuff, some good, some junk. Can't wait for the weather to warm up so we can go out again! The kids loved it so much that they ordered a second magnet!
