These are really lovely, and so far, 2 1/2 months in, have held up quite nicely. I wish that the short handled spurtle had a longer handle, as you cannot really use it over a hot pot, but otherwise, everything is lovely and extremely useful. I have had no issues with washing them, and there has been no loss of color or beauty. I do, however, always hand dry them, do not leave them soaking or put them in the dishwasher, which I am convinced would ruin them. I have yet to feel the need to oil them, but will do so the minute it appears that they are drying out. I read all the reviews on sets like this, and this set had the highest, most consistent ratings, and now I know why. I am so glad I bought this set versus some of the others that have had issues with stain coming off or breakage. These are really sturdily built, and quite lovely.

I don't write reviews very often (see my history) however I wanted to share how much I love cooking with these. They are very well made and have all but replaced the rubber spatulas and crappy half-melted plastic utensils I am used to cooking with. The workmanship is of high quality and their design makes them highly versatile for just about any purpose. Reducing sauces, caramelizing vegetables, stir fry, emulsification - there is a good reason these have been in use for thousands of years. Naturally there will be times where you will still need kitchen tongs or have to use a rubber spatula for something, these Spurtles are quite useful nonetheless. On the subject of cleaning: When they arrived I washed them with soap and water, let them air dry, applied two light coats of butcher block mineral oil then let them air dry once more. I am notorious for putting things in the dishwasher that shouldn't ever go in there, when it comes to these wooden Spurtles a simple wash in warm soapy water is all that is needed, then allow them to dry on the counter before going back in the drawer. Apply a light coat of mineral oil if they start to feel dry/rough and they will last for many years.

I love these wooden utensils. They are as described and work well. However, when you wash the first time, check carefully for splinters & blemishes. 3 pieces had splinters on them that had to be sanded off to prevent them from breaking off during food preparation or giving a child a splinter when washing.

These look amazing in my utensils container. They are strong and perfectly designed. I am having a remodel done, so I haven't been able to use them, however, just after opening I dropped one of them and I just knew it shattered after hitting the corner of the stove then falling on the floor, but there was no damage. So I feel like they aren't brittle. The finish is soft and they seem like they will be great for everyday use. I do not plan to put them in the dishwasher, i expect they are hand wash only. Once my kitchen is complete, I will update with daily use. :) They are worth every penny, in my opinion.
