So this is a decent set considering the price point, but the rating is for value. Almost all chisels require some setup, and these are definitely on the labor intensive side. The handles are perfectly fine. They have a ring at the end to reduce the chance of splitting when using a mallet. They feel perfectly solid in hand. The metal is basically roughed out, nothing more. The lower edge of the sides is sharp so you will have to blunt that with a diamond file, diamond stone, sander, or something of that sort. The cutting edges are kind of dodgy. Some have major imperfections, huge burrs, or the like. These will need to be taken care of with a grinding wheel, diamond stone, water stone, etc. The case works well to protect them, by the way. Put in some elbow grease and this is a useful and cheap set of chisels. I'll update on how well they can be sharpened and how well they retain an edge. Update: had a chance to flatten the back with a stone and then redo the cutting edge. Blunted the lower edge a little to reduce its sharpness. The chisel is easy to sharpen and holds a point under light use reasonably well for the price. Haven't really pushed it at all, but I did get it to the point where it was carving through oak.

I just recently got into woodworking though car audio: it was time to build my own subwoofer box, a right of passage in the car audio world. I had to pick up tools on the fly, took forever, and it turned out great. But, there are some improvements that could be made, and now that I started woodworking I realized it's something I could get into. When I saw there were wood chisels available I jumped. These are really, really nice tools. They feel much more premium than the price tag. They come in a nice zipper case, four chisels included, and each is wrapped in plastic. They arrived in mint condition. There's a heavy wooden handle which appears uncomfortable but is perfectly comfortable in practice. They're elegant. The metal is thick and heavy, and looks like they could be used as prying tools (though never do that). The tips have a plastic cover (nice touch!). I tried these out by pressing one, just pressing it, into a piece of MDF. It didn't part quite like butter, but darned if it didn't just sink into the wood with a bare press. These are just incredible! I have some alterations to make to my subwoofer box and these will easily do the task. I'm super excited about owning these and I'm looking forward to my next project. I highly recommend!

Review for Wood Chisel Set – 4 PC Premium Woodworking Chisels w/CR-V Steel Blades, Handles, Zipper Bag - Anti-Rust Coating Wood I was really looking forward to getting a new chisel set, the one I have is not very good and was old decades ago. The first thing I noticed when I started looking at it was that there was a small crack in one of the wooden handles - not large, but noticeable. It extends about an inch and a half down from the ferrule. It don't think it will affect it too much structurally, but still, it doesn't speak well for QC. What really upset me more were the noticeable burrs along the edges of the square sides of all of the chisels. I found them when I felt along the shafts. Which led me to look more closely at the actual top cutting edges - and sure enough, there were burrs on each of those, as well. I did not expect to have to file down these chisels before I could use them. But I doubt they will be usable with the burrs along the cutting edges. And I don't want to scratch or cut my hands on the burrs on the shafts just by handling them, so they need to be filed down as well. The case is nice. They are pretty weighty and appear sturdy. But still, I can't give them any more than three stars even giving credit for that.

I purchased the - Wood Chisel Set – 4 PC Premium Woodworking Chisels w/CR-V Steel Blades, Handles, Zipper Bag - Anti-Rust Coating Wood Chisels for Woodworking – to replace the two chisels I have been using to cut leather in my workshop. I mostly purchased it for the smaller size chisels. I was hoping these chisels would be sharper than they are so that I might be able to use them to skive or thin out the edges of leather strapping. Only one out of the four was sharp enough to do that but all are certainly sharp enough to slice through to cut leather straps. As you may be able to tell from the attached photos, some of the edges are rough and jagged and will need sharpening and honing. And they are quite oily so caution is needed when working with materials such as leather. Overall, this is a decent set for my needs.
