I purchased one of these ions ago, but it seems that it was a bigger one. Perhaps because it was so long ago my memory has faded a bit. My corgi then, who had a gazillion toys and played with EVERYTHING lost interest in this one quickly; the noises it generated were very limited and I finally decided we'd gotten a lemon. For the record, I did not purchase it at Amazon. Fast forward to the present; I'd been looking at this again, for quite some time, finally deciding to order again for my current corgi who is another toy monster. The first order never arrived. I didn't realize it since I had become ill for almost 3 months; again I was back on Amazon looking for things for Howie, drawn back to the giggle ball where I saw the "you ordered this back on..." which triggered my memory so I looked up the order which seemed to be lost in space. Amazon immediately refunded my money and sent me another one which came the next day. Thank you, Amazon. Howie's eyes were like saucers when he heard the noises emanating from that delivery box. We were off to the races. He loves the darned thing, corgis are herding dogs and are really smart, Howie is too smart. He figured out immediately where to pick it up to bring back to me and also the herding instinct kicked in as he shoved the ball around the yard with his nose and paws. The first night we had it I gave it to him in the house and he absolutely lost his mind. Deaf, dumb and blind to any manners he had or good behavior learned. I had to take it away from him and put it away. He knew where it was and would stand and stare at it for hours on end. He gets stuck on things sometimes (an understatement), as a rescue he had some issues we all had to work on but he has come a long way. I waited about a week, then we went outside and started over. All is well in the universe now. I gave this 4 stars overall and 4 stars for chew proof because the jury is still out on a couple of things, I would like to see a few different sizes, I could see getting a bit of a larger size for Howie that he couldn't pick up, that he would have to herd around instead, that would put the chew issue at a lower risk, I say that because when he picks it up, he has chewed at it as all dogs do with things, when he is getting ready to find the holes in order to pick up the ball; the other day when he brought it back to me, one of his canines was a bit lodged into the ball, not enough to have to have to cause concern, but something to watch for. Perhaps he had been choosing the same area to try to pick it up. I won't rate the durability or longevity right now. I'll just say that at this point in time, the ball is holding up quite well, especially with a dog that plays hard, and who knows how long it will last. I am purchasing another one as a back up. I have had corgis for over 40 years and as all responsible dog owners know, never leave your dog alone with a toy or anything else, not even a paper bag. I'm glad this one has worked out so far, however if it becomes compromised or unsafe in anyway for Howie, it will find its way to the garbage can immediately. ... show more

Let me start out by saying I love this ball. My problem, I have a 1 year old half Belgian Malinois and half Great Pyrenees. He’s huge. . I purchased two of these balls in February, 2022. At that time I paid $11.99 a piece and they were a descent size ball. The balls only lasted a couple of weeks. Because of him picking up the ball, he ruined the spots where the noise comes out. The noise still worked, but he ended up tearing both balls to pieces and they had to be thrown away. Well I decided to buy another one because he did enjoy it so much. I just gave it to him today. The price was $3.00 higher than it was 10 months ago. I get it, everything has gone up in price. I was surprised when I opened up the box and saw that this new ball is half the size as the original ones I purchased. The ball is made of a very hard plastic, but my dog was able to tear up the ball with his teeth. Within an hour of giving him the ball, you can see the damage he did in the pictures I’ve included. Again, my dog is totally obsessed with this toy, but this ball just isn’t a good fit for him. Maybe if you have a large, medium or small dog, it would last. I live in Montana and today it was 24 degrees outside. I’m not sure if the cold weather made it easier for my dog to destroy the ball. If I ever get a smaller dog, I will defiantly buy it again. ... show more

    • The most obnoxious toy ever...and I'm not even mad!

My 3 1/2-year-old rescue Catahoula has a lot of energy and expects me to help him burn it off 24/7. I pulled the trigger and purchased the large ball for my beast (he's roughly 80 pounds). It's annoying. Like, really annoying. The giggle sounds make me want to puncture my ear drums with a fork. He's constantly chasing it under furniture and into corners. It's heavy and bounces HARD on my floors. So why 5 stars? He's never been so independently engaged with any toy as he is with this one. He will nudge it, chase it, and try to chew it for an hour at a time. He doesn't need me to throw it, he just chases it on his own. Blessed freedom!! A note for your purchase of this awesomely annoying toy: I got the large one that won't fit entirely in his mouth. This is KEY to its durability. He can grab it and carry it with the indentations on the surface but he can't get a good angle to chomp it. He tries, and yes there are some tooth scratches on its surface, but he can't get a good purchase on the toy to really destroy it. The downside to this is that your doggo can't grab it easily if it rolls into a corner or under furniture and you will need to initiate rescue operations to free it. Another note: this thing is cabinet banging, floor rattling heavy. I would NOT recommend throwing it. Rolling it will get the fun started. It is hard plastic so I imagine it could crack if thrown. And one last note: It rolls ok on carpet and bare floors, but not so much on the grass. He quickly bored of it outside. If your dog is timid or frightened by loud sounds, this may not be a good choice for him. Luckily, the only thing that frightens this one is the vacuum cleaner, and since the vacuum never giggles, we're good to go. I've only had it for a day or two, so I can't comment on longevity yet. It is sturdy and I think that if you get the right-sized ball that can't fit entirely in the mouth and you roll it instead of throwing it, it will last quite a while. ... show more

This ball is super solid, it's made up of plastic but it is such a dense plastic that any medium-sized to small-sized dog would almost never chew it's way through. The ball has a weighted squeaker, to where the ball rotates one way or the other and the squeaker condenses down. This makes an interesting noise that dogs will find interesting, however, if it is not rotated fast enough or rolled fast enough the ball just makes a sliding 'thunk' sound. This isn't a huge deal but if you have an anxious dog or one that gets scared easily, that may drive them off from enjoying this ball outside of it being a distant noisemaker. ... show more
