Features

  • Open Source Software : There are many ways to use your mobile phone to remotely control and manage ESP32 boards. Currently the best option, hands down, is WLED. A fully Open-Source phone application, WLED can be found for free in the Google Play Store or in the IOS App Store. So no matter your Phone type you can get in on the action. With the ESP32 board connected together, this application will allow you to control the LED lights exactly how you want.
  • Fully Addressable LED strips : Fully Addressable LED strips can produce whatever unique colour and brightness you want for each LED node. This provides an incredible amount of freedom. Creating a great Fully Addressable LED control system used to be complex, either having to start from scratch (coming up with light patterns and user interface) or taking the easier option and having to then use paid proprietary options (which have limited built-in patterns).
  • Macros:You are able to set custom actions ("Macros") in Time & Macro settings for the following events: Specific time of day;Button short/long/double press;HTTP API call executing a macro with &M=;Alexa On/Off;Countdown over;Timed light duration over;Device (re)boot (up to 0.10.2, use LED settings Boot preset in 0.11);Each macro has the format of a standard HTTP API call without the IP. Optionally, the "win&" may be omitted. For example, the macro "A=255" sets the brightness to maximum
  • Auto white handling:Besides addressable RGB and RGBW bus types, WLED 0.13.0 also supports PWM CCT (correlated color temperature) lights. Many effects and realtime sources are based on an RGB color model, which necessitates a method to calculate a white channel value from the RGB value for lights that support more than RGB.WLED offers four auto white modes, one of which can be selected in LED settings using the option Auto-calculate white channel from RGB.
  • Freely collocatable for greater flexibility:GL-C-010WL WLED Addressable Strip Controller allows you to set different zones on the LED strip, each running a different effect or color,To illustrate this, we can create a segment with 12 LEDS (physically referred to as LED 0 to LED 11) and select an effect that repeats three colors. When Grouping is set to one we see a repeating pattern of one red LED, one blue LED, and one green LED.
  • Welcome to my project WLED! :GL-C-010WL WLED Addressable Strip Controller library integrated for over 100 special effects;FastLED noise effects and 50 palettes;Modern UI with color, effect and segment controls;Segments to set different effects and colors to parts of the LEDs;Settings page - configuration over network;Access Point and station mode - automatic failsafe AP;Up to 3 LED outputs per ESP32 instance and 10 LED outputs per ESP32 instance Support for RGBW strips.

  • Flashable ESP32/WLED controller? Yes, please!
If you're here, you're probably on some spectrum of DIY, I'm just a newbie. I am using this with the BTF-LIGHTING FCOB WS2814 RGBWIC RGB+4000K HDU LED Strip (DC24V 784LED/m 70IC 10mm). The controller came with a fairly recent version of WLED, 0.13.3, which did not support this strip correctly. The best it could do out of the box was to work MOSTLY well as a SK6812, but the B and W channels were flipped. Fortunately, I opted to get the UART model so I could update it. Updating it to 0.14.1, I could see now that I could select SK6812/WS2814 RGBW. This still had the same issue, but playing with the options a bit, I found the solution: Color Order BRG, and Swap W & G. Now I have brilliant colors that respond very quickly, I can customize my own effects, and integrate with a non-corporate assistant like Home Assistant, and all the other wonderful things that an ESP32 system gets you, no soldering needed. Here are the steps for TL;DR: 1) need to flash the ESP32/WLED chip to at least 0.14.1 2) In Config -> LED Preferences, choose "SK6812/WS2814 RGBW" (which is now a valid option) 3) Choose color order BRG 4) Choose swap W&G ... show more

  • Easiest way to setup WLED at your house
Wanted to setup a bunch of ARGB strips on some bookshelves and found this item thanks to Chris Mahr on YouTube. This could not have been any easier to setup. The fact that I didn't have to buy a ESP32 board and build my own housing makes this worth the increased cost over just the raw board; plus it's preloaded with WLED as well saving me some time and hassle of connecting to my computer in the beginning. ... show more

  • This would be a 5 if it wasn't for the push wire
These connectors are absolutely worthless. I'm tempted to send it back and get a different brand. It works perfectly, but those connectors keep popping out.

  • Great LED controller
This is a great, simple device for controlling individually addressable LED strips (such as the WS2812B). The ESP32 version with "Download" (UART) has an internal MicroUSB port which makes it super easy to change the firmware. It can work with a good range of voltages, and overall it's a very well-designed device. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it constantly supplies power to the LED strand even when no LEDs are active. I wish there was a true "off" for the power output. ... show more

  • Solid control if not for the push terminals
Come on man!... you were so close! The push terminals are trash! If you can get these things to catch and you don't ever touch or move the control, it is solid. I have been looking for an all-in-one WLED control with good a microphone for a golf cart.. this would have been near perfect if it had screw terminals. (sorry seller, this was BIG design mistake) PS if you make a dust resistant 5v-24v WLED 4 channel ESP32 controller with screw terminals and a good microphone, I'll buy 10 of them. ... show more

  • A great way to try WLED
It's great to see WLED showing up in commercial products. The software is way better than the usual Tuya stuff. It's local, fast, and has new features being added all the time. It's really nice not to have to bother with flashing preexisting hardware. Which can involve cutting traces or soldering pads. My hands shake so that's a major pain for me. Hardware-wise, besides the usual level shifters and such, this controller comes with an ESP32 chip. The ESP32 chip is faster and has more memory. The specific chip in this one is the ESP32-WROOM-32. In WLED this gets you more segments. And the extra core lets you run the sound reactive fork of WLED. Technically there is also bluetooth support, though I don't know that WLED has a use for that. The UART in this version is a micro-usb port on the PCB inside the case. You can use this to directly flash to the chip without having to hook up a separate FTDI programmer. Which is good for recovering from bad updates. Or just for trying a different firmware, like one of the WLED forks. You have to open the case with a spudger. That's kind of unfortunate. It's easy enough to open if you have the tool. But something that advertises an internal port should really use screws. The only bad thing about the hardware are the terminals. They don't work as well with smaller wires. Now I only use 18AWG wires for my projects. It makes for less voltage drop and allows longer runs. They work fine with these. But some people are going to try the cheapest 22AWG wires available and have trouble solidly connecting them. Standard screw terminals would have been better. Some people don't like companies using open source software, but I'm really glad this exists. I need something premade because of the problems with my hands. And the community anointed controller is not only more expensive. It is never ever in stock. If you want something running WLED, give this a shot. It's a cheap and easy way to get started right now. ... show more
