I've gone through a string of camp pillows. They all have sucked. Various packable pillows, inflatable pillows, etc. I've built my own hybrid with a mostly flat pillow and an inflatable. Nothing has really been satisfactory. I took a gamble on the Wise Owl memory foam pillow. Hot dang! I think I have a winner. I used it on a multi-day camp and my neck felt great in the mornings. I'm mostly camping out of my vehicle so weight really isn't a huge factor for me. However, I've been looking for something smaller than my normal pillow that I use at home. If you are wanting something for backpacking, you may want to consider the size. It really doesn't pack down very small at all. It was a bit of a struggle to get it out of it's storage sack. If you are looking for comfort at the expense of some bulk, this this pillow is great. After reading other reviews, I was somewhat hesitant but made the purchase anyway. I kind of wish I had gotten the large instead of medium. But it worked fine on my week long camping trip. Despite what some other reviewers said, I found. It easy to roll up and put back into the bag. I like how compact it is and that it didn’t take up too much room in my gear pack. I only have one pic that shows the pillow, but it will give you an idea of its size (medium) in comparison with the cot and sleeping bag. It doesn’t give great support or comfort, but it’s not bad. I didn’t wake up with a headache or my neck hurting, but it’s definitely something I would only use for camping and road trips. ... show more

I got this pillow because I really can't sleep comfortably on the inflatable pillows that many people use for backpacking. I just used this for the first time a couple weekends ago and it was such a huge improvement over the inflatable pillows. It takes up quite a bit more room than my inflatable and weighs more, but its worth it to me. We found the shredded memory foam pillows work better for cold weather camping since you can "fluff" the pillow. Solid foam pillows have a hard time expanding in below freezing temperatures. This is a nice compact size for travel, camping, or backpacking. The shredded foam can be manipulated to make it a bit firmer. I bought this pillow to replace an inflatable that lost air and went flat overnight. Unlike the size and this pillow is pretty comfortable. However, it does not pack away very well. It is huge in my backpack, taking up way too much room. I want a comfortable pillow for remote trips but I cannot sacrifice so much room for this luxury.
