This little gadget is great. I am delighted with the picture quality and the degree of magnification. I had mistakenly thought there was a lens that you could look through. No, it needs to be used on a smart phone or a computer. With an app provided by the company. The app has not given me any trouble at all. The little plastic stand is not incredibly stable. It requires much practice to consistently line up the shots. Not a deal breaker but definitely a half a star from being perfect. And lastly - the dial for focusing is not smooth and easy. So when one adjusts the focus, the scope moves in its little plastic bracket. Which is about a half of a star of disappointment. Having said all that, I do not regret this purchase at all. I will always prefer to have the plastic holder a bit janky than to have the app I put on my phone buggy. For the price this is an incredibly worthwhile purchase. Picture 1 is my carpet. I use it to inspect my house plants for pests and I can clearly view and identify most of them. Here are some things I noted while using it: -It takes a little practice to get it to focus, but other than that it's a great little microscope. -It connects to my phone with ease. -Battery life is satisfactory -You can adjust the lighting. -Screencaps/recordings can be taken directly on the microscope (more difficult to do because pressing the button can mess up your focus), OR on the app (much easier considering you don't have to mess with the buttons on the microscope). My only complaints are- -The resolution isn't the best, but that is expected of a $30 microscope. -The microscope's built-in wifi connection turns off your primary wifi when in use. -The stand is wonky. I rarely use it, but this requires me to have an ultra steady hand to keep the microscope in focus. (I wish it were built better and could be adjusted vertically.) ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The Microscope and camera is itself fantastic. The app is good and allows you to record pics or video so that's great. I took video of red construction paper with a white chalk marker drawn. My problem is with the level of access it was demanding to my phone. So first it asks for network access and to be able to access devices on your network. I understand this is necessary to access the microscope camera because you connect to it via wifi, but then when you are not using the app you should go to the privacy settings on your iPhone and turn off network access for the app and only turn it back on during active use of the microscope. Then it asked for access to photos to save photos to my album. Fine, I gave it access to Selected Photos Only. Yet when I tried to take a picture it asks as shown in the photo I uploaded for access (in super shady form) to Settings>Privacy>Photos. But it already had access to Select Photos Only in photos as confirmed in Settings, so why does this Chinese app need to have access to all my photos? No thank you. the app will not work unless you give it access to All Photos. This is totally unnecessary. Other apps give the option of "Selected photos only" or even better "write only", which is what this app needs because the app does not need access to view my photos at all, it just needs to write to my photo album. So I set it to All photos, then when I'm done using the app I change it to None again so it has no access to photos and I remove access to the network. It was so fun to use with the kids. The zoom is good, it goes from 1x to 2x. Then in 2x you can use the focus adjust for sharpness even more now that you are closer. The picture of the moth shows you the zoom effect. The first pic is the moth and the second is zoomed in 2x into the hairs. Some of these don't have a focus knob and the problem with that is you have to move 3D specimen up and down to the focal point. This one has a focus knob so we were looking at a moth and could focus on the head that was closer to the camera or the legs near the table. Definitely pick one with a focus knob. I’ve enjoyed this microscope for 4 years. Easy to use, clear magnification, easy setup. It did stop working recently and I contacted company. The quickly determined it was broken (after 4 years and heavy use) and shipped a new one to me free of charge! Great product, fantastic customer service! This is a fun little microscope. Pretty easy to use. I have used it to identify several microorganisms in my fish tanks. Lots of fun looking at skin and hair as well! Definitely recommend. I feel it works great for an inexpensive microscope.

This product comes in handy for examining small stuff on a large screen. It has variable illumination control and variable focus control. It also has an application that can be used to view all of the cameras that your computer may have. You will be surprised how things pop up in normal life where you want to examine small stuff. And it just plain interesting to blow up your world. And customer service is first rate. I had my original microscope for 10 months when the connector on the device became intermittent. I contacted their customer support and interacted with a very friendly person. After sending them a video of the problem they cheerfully sent a brand new product.
