Not sure if the other reviewers were just unlucky or if there was a firmware update or hardware refresh, but I can confirm on my multiple gaming PCs and laptops this pairs once and does not need to be re-paired each time you power down or disconnect, it auto re-pairs when you turn on the controller. In fact, I would go even further and say it is better at pairing than the official Microsoft units, as I have 2 of those and while they do work, they are finicky about when each device needs to be in seeking mode before being able to successfully pair, resulting in a slightly annoying dance of unplugging/re-plugging and toggling the controller to be ready to pair until you get the sequence just right. With this unit, you simply set it to seek, and set the controller to seek, and no matter the order or timing, finds it with ease on the first try. ... show more

    • Customer Service is Phenomenal!
I bought the device a couple weeks ago, once I received it I plugged it into my sons Windows 10 PC and it immediately installed and my son paired his wireless controller with no issues. The devices pairing function did malfunction/break. I emailed customer service and Jessica helped troubleshoot and determined I needed a new one. She immediately sent me a new one, hassle free.     • Works but with flaws
Plug and play with quick setup. Pairing with the controller is seamless, worked on the first try. The only downside is that every time I turn the PC and the controller on, the adapter doesn’t connect. I’ve had to replug the adapter into the USB slot and press the pairing button on both the adapter and controller each time I want to use it. I bought this device to make a headset that is only made for the Xbox, and make it work on my computer. after plugging this adapter in, it took maybe 10 seconds for this to work perfectly.

    • Better than Microsoft’s adapter
Get this. It’s the same thing as the real one from Microsoft but cheaper. Build quality is a bit scuffed and it feels cheaply assembled, but there’s zero input lag and pairs easily. Make sure you install the drivers for it or else you’ll have some issues. The instructions are kind of weird for pairing. Just hold down the pair button on it and wait for the light to blink. Then you can release the button and put your Xbox controller into pairing mode. ... show more

With an official xbox adapter when turn on your controller after a Bluetooth pair to a phone it should reconnect to adapter this does not. Minor inconvenience to have to re-pair to adapter after using controller on phone.

It comes in a smaller more compact package than the Microsoft controller adapter but is less durable and sounds like something is rattling internally. It works and performs as expected once you download the correct drivers for it, however, my biggest con with it is the unclear and confusing instruction manual.
