I bought this for my 10-year-old grandson and couldn't be happier. The problem with most inexpensive beginner guitars is that the strings are too high off the fret, which makes it very hard on the fingers when you try to press down and play chords. This is why a lot of beginners quit trying after a few days, because their fingers hurt too much. The strings on this one are much lower, like a higher-priced guitar, and the sound quality is very good also. I highly recommend it!

I have checked pawn shops for guitars and so yes, you can find a used guitar cheaper, but not a decent one for what you get here. All you will have to do tune the guitar in order to play and that's the great thing - you get a tuner in this kit! I have a couple of tuners for my lap steel guitars and my hammered dulcimer that I spent money on and yes, they are a bit better than the tuner that comes in this kit, but the bottom line is the included tuner works fine. Of my three lap steel guitars, I have bags for only two of them - a nice, vintage one did not, so I can tell you that having a bag to carry your guitar with you is a necessity. At least if you like to practice or play for others when away from home, you need a bag. In the copy, it states a guitar stand is included, but it's a wall hanger. Two different things! I have both, so wanted to add that here. I do prefer the wall hangers as that gets the guitar up off the floor. I have bitty dogs and my kids are grown and gone, but having a guitar on a floor stand can invite disaster if you have small children or larger dogs that run through the house. Now, as far as the quality of this guitar goes, it isn't a $500 brand name acoustic guitar, but it is well made, solid, sturdy and has very good sound. For a beginner and at this price, you can't really go wrong.
