My 7 years old is learning the watercolor painting. After read the reviews, I bought Cotman paint and one other brand. Then I used both brands to paint 2 pieces. Cotman paint out-performs the other one with rich, thick color and fine pigments. Please see the attached art pieces, the landscape one is painted with Cotman. I will shop more individual tubes for the basic colors, i.e. pure yellow, blue and red. The set of 10 does not supply these basic original colors, which seems it's a marketing trick to me. For young kids, it might be easier to get the pan style for them. Quality products are never cheap, I recommend the Cotman student line for serious watercolor learners. ... show more

    • Don't think I will buy it again
First, the photos posted with the customer reviews all showed half pan palettes. I guess the seller switched to the tube set but kept the amazon item number to maintain the customer reviews. That's not very good as they are customer opinions on different types of paints! The case palette is made from very cheap, thin and soft plastic, the material is like the one for the restaurant carry out boxes. Disappointed. ... show more

These paints definitely have more pigment than any other cheaper brands I bought which makes a huge difference in my paintings. I just wish the paints weren't so expensive otherwise I'd give them 5 stars. I don't paint enough to use them up before they dry out.

I am very disappointed in this item. The palette was a very flimsy, cheesy, bendable, thin plastic. The top was made of same plastic and was too loose to stay on the palette without two rubber bands, which then made it even flimsier. Picture shows a bottom box which may give some shape to it. Instead, it arrived in a thin, slip-in box. Basically, this palette isn't worth using. Colors advertised a Hooker's Green Dark but a Viridian was substituted. I would recommend buying this only if you think it is a good value for the watercolors themselves. ... show more
