  • Great Oil Instruction
The person who gave this book only 2 stars really missed the point. The book isn't intended to be literature. It is an instructional book on how to paint wildlife. The book is much cheaper than paying for a workshop and is just as instructional. The video portions allow you to watch a demo over and over. Also, you can learn at your own pace. I have been painting commissioned animal portraits for several years and I found the book useful in showing me how someone else works. I recommend it for beginning and even for seasoned oil painters. It is very well done. ... show more

  • Amazing loose technique presented in this ebook
I am so happy I purchased this ebook about David's loose style of painting wildlife with oil paint. It was very rewarding to read, study the photos and watch the videos while at the same time understanding what was being presented. This has made me very eager to resume painting pet portraits again with confidence to be loose and incorporate all the great painting technique that was presented in this ebook. Highly recommend this ebook for all oil painters and those who love art. Thank you for taking the time to compile and create this ebook. Hope there will be more in the future. • Great beginning to amature level animal painting book with video clips
Short and fast, easy to follow instructional book on three different animal painting projects with short video clips for demonstrations. I enjoyed reading it. Really got the basics of his messy painting style, alla prima and loose. He paints two big cat heads and a a foal.

  • Great look at a great artist
David Stribbling is one of the best wildlife artists out there and his deceptively easy "sloppy" style is one of his unique ways of painting wonderful photos. The step by step guide in this book and the description of colors is very helpful to anyone who would like to paint this way. A lot of good tips about the use of colors together is insightful. I do wish it was told in David's own voice but the authors do "translate" the process fairly well. The video clips are disappointing though because they are so short (some only 30 seconds) that they barely illustrate the point any more than the still photos. The best thing to do is to use the book as a starting place for your own art and to better understand and study David's extensive gallery of paintings on the Facebook page or on his family website. (Kudos to his equally talented daughters) Overall this is so far the only art book I have loaded for my Kindle that I have been pleased with and actually kept. Worth adding to your art library. ... show more

  • Fascinating & Inspiring!
I purchased this e-book because I am an artist who loves the loose technique. The up-close photos, moderate explanations and the accompanying video snippets really worked well together. David Stribbling's work is absolutely beautiful and has such an energy which brings the subjects to life. Reminds me of one of my paint teachers, he always told me that every brush mark has a purpose. In this book, David proves that to be true. I am incredibly inspired and cannot wait to get to my easel and use these techniques! ... show more

  • Excellent!
Purchased this e book and could not wait to read it. I am familiar with the Stribbling family and have asked for a book just like this. You did an excellent job. Very informative and an excellent read. I would recommend this to both the beginning artist and to those who are well established. The only draw back I had was I wish the video clips had sound and we're longer. Would love it if there was a full length video available. However this e book was an excellent value. Thanks for sharing your talents with the world. JoAnne ... show more

  • Great instructional art ebook
David is truly a modern master wildlife painter. In this very low-priced ebook he very generously shares his methods, and makes the most of the format by including links to his videos. His work is really inspiring, and his advice on how to make your own subjects stand out is really invaluable.
