  • End-game office/desktop amp and app!
Color: Silver
Perfect amp for my home office setup! I’d wanted to try a WiiM amp for a while, because I’d only heard great things about their gear — and this amp does not disappoint! It easily feeds my Bowers & Wilkins 706 s2 bookshelf speakers all of the high-quality power they need to sound great! Love that this amp has all of the connectivity options you could want, and that it supports eArc via HDMI. Plus you can connect a separate subwoofer — I’m using an SVS 3000 Micro. The detailed equalizer and subwoofer controls in the WiiM Home app enabled me to really dial-in the sound for my office. Music and movies now sound as good in my office as they do in my theater room. It’s nice that it has a remote with a build quality that’s just as solid and lux as the main device. Though the mobile WiiM Home app is so full-featured and well-designed, that I prefer to just use that and I never touch the remote. It even comes in a swanky brushed-aluminum silver color to match my Apple gear and not show dust! I don’t have a single complaint about the WiiM Amp Ultra. Money well-spent! ... show more

  • For $450, it's definitely worth buying.
Color: Silver
I've been using the WiiM Amp Ultra for a while now, and I'm really impressed with it. It has a lot of built-in streaming service integrations, making it easy to play music without extra devices. I'm using it with my Emotiva T2 floor-standing speakers (200W nominal), and it drives them much better than I expected. The sound is punchy, clean, and dynamic, with plenty of power for my listening. The remote is another nice surprise. It's made from solid aluminum, feels premium (similar to an Apple remote), and it's rechargeable, which is much better than replacing batteries. There are a couple of things you should know before buying: Bluetooth only supports SBC and AAC codecs. There's no aptX or LDAC, There's no AirPlay support, so iPhone users should keep that in mind. One more thing that may matter if you're importing it from another country: the package is quite large and heavy. The shipping weight is around 5 kg (11 lb), even though the amplifier itself weighs about 2.5 kg (5.5 lb). No product is perfect, and every manufacturer has to make compromises. As long as you know these limitations before buying, I think it's an excellent product. I paid $450 for mine, and at that price I honestly don't know of another all-in-one streaming amplifier that offers the same combination of features, build quality, and performance. I'm very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend it. ... show more

  • Audiophile performance, reasonable price
Color: Space Gray
Magnificent ! I am surprised at the quality and performance of this little amplifier. I am using two small Klipsch speakers and an Edifier powered subwoofer. The separation is spot on, and the clarity is studio perfect. I am listening easy listening music (Linda Ronstadt, James Tailor, Enya, etc.) rock, Beck, Taylor Swift, - all streaming high-def. When you listen to music on the WiiM amp, you don’t just hear the music, you experience it. Two areas where the performance is stunning are the vocals and woodwinds. Always tight and very rich. It puts you in the studio sound stage. Pianos sparkle. And it can deliver at any volume you are listening. I listen to music in a two bedroom apartment, so I have the volume set on a lower setting. The sound is clear, full bodied, rich. If you are streaming, you have to use a streaming app like Spotify, Qbuzz (better), and it provides inputs for one set of RCA plugs, HDMI ARC, LAN, optical But there is no coaxial input. WiiM provides you with very good optical, HDMI. and RCA cables. No need to purchase them separately. Set up is a breeze. They even provide gold-plated tips for bare speaker wire. The speaker connections also work with standard sized banana plugs. Just make the purchase already. You won't regret it. Highly recommended! Added note after over two months of listening. This is probably the best amp I have ever owned. I had been a faithful NAD fanatic previously (power amps, pre-amps, streaming integrated amps), but have never heard any like this before. I recently had to downsize to an apartment. My audiophile expensive speakers got lost in the move, so I had to "settle" for a pair of Klipsch R-51M speakers and an Edifier subwoofer. There are no real acoustics in my living room. My speakers are only 8 feet apart, but still the sound stage is gorgeous and rich. From Fank Sinatra to electronic, I may be able to get different, but for around $1000 for the whole system, you'd have a hard time getting better. ... show more

  • Great Amplifier in a small form factor
Color: Space Gray
Amazing sound. I paired it with KEF Q1 speakers and the results is amazing. I was not going to spend so much on an amplifier just for my office, but now that I have I am really happy I bought it. It sounds great, feels sturdy, great app and the big screen showing the art of the albums is a nice detail. I am using it in a small room but it looks like it could fill up bigger spaces. The streaming capabilities are great also with Spotify and Tidal. ... show more

  • Good performance. Good value.
Color: Space Gray
Good value for the money in tech, power, build quality, ease of use, and sound quality. Good app that gives you complete control, once you get the hang of it. Integrating devices (eg speakers) is a snap. You get your choice of wired, wifi, or Bluetooth (Bluetooth compresses audio signal by nature/lower sound quality, use WiFi), for speaker connect. Nice. Some reviewers say they paired it with WIIM Vibe amp. Why it’s the same amp that’s in the ultra? Makes no sense to me. ... show more

  • A Box of Brilliance
Color: Silver
So far, the WiiM Amp Ultra has been great. It's a feature packed device which offers a lot at a reasonable price. I won't go into the specs as these are clear, what I will say is that it is highly customizable and can be set up to switch inputs on detection of audio from each source (if desired). This makes it very easy to go from playing audio from the Line inputs to audio from Optical. The Room Correction EQ is a revelation, making even a pair of old and underperforming speakers sound actually quite decent. I wish there was a way to adjust the strength of the correction (like from 0% to 100%) so you have a choice on how strong you want to apply it, but maybe this will come in a future firmware update, something which WiiM are constantly working on. Some other things to like, EQ per source. Ability to save presets for specific inputs / playlists / albums / songs each with their own eq, four of which can be bound to buttons on the remote. Set alarms for music to play at certain times of the day, volume limits to avoid damaging speakers or going beyond a threshold that might annoy your neighbour, Alexa integration, Google Cast etc. There is plenty of power in the Amp to drive most speakers and it sounds clean and distortion free. I love that I can also plug in a USB drive filled with music and the WiiM will parse the tracks and display them in a very 'music library' way. It's not without issue though. The most frustrating one which almost made me send this back was an issue with Bluetooth. When enabled as a source input, switching through sources when the WiiM reaches Bluetooth causes a frustrating delay of several seconds. Initially, I thought the remote wasn’t working or there was lag in the WiiM, but I believe it scans the Bluetooth network for devices and can’t be manually exited. Fortunately, you can remove Bluetooth as a selectable source, allowing you to switch from Line In > Optical > HDMI without Bluetooth in the middle. Bluetooth will still work, and your device will reconnect if you choose to use it without re-enabling it as a source. And the above mentioned auto switching on detection of audio also helps as you don't even need to manually change inputs as the WiiM will do it automatically. Regardless, hopefully WiiM can address this. There's a lot more to love, suffice to say that overall I'm extremely happy and highly recommend this. ... show more

  • Easy to use audio upgrade for my living room
Color: Space Gray
I recently got the WiiM Amp Ultra with voice remote and it’s pretty handy for my living room setup. the audio quality feels good thanks to the ESS ES9039Q2M DAC and the dual TPA3255 amps give enough power for my space. i like that it has built-in room correction with the RoomFit EQ, making the sound clearer. the touchscreen is a nice touch, quite easy to navigate. i’ve used it with HDMI ARC and optical connections, and all worked smoothly. only thing is, it might be a bit more than i expected price-wise, but overall, it’s a decent piece for enjoying movies and music. ... show more

  • Using it to power outdoor speakers AND on my home theater speakers using the Google TV WiiM app
Color: Silver
I had my eye on this streaming amp for a while. I didn't really NEED it, but it was something I definitely wanted. Prime Day's price was the trigger for me. I am using this amp primarily to power my outdoor enclosed patio room speakers. I have the amp inside in my living room and the wires run through the wall outside to the speakers using a speaker wall adapter in between (using banana plugs on all ends). I generally control the amp's playback one of two ways when I am outside: using my phone and the excellent WiiM Home app or streaming via Bluetooth when I am working on my PC outside and want to watch TV or play music on it. The sound is outstanding. I also use the amp as a music playback device on my home theater using the WiiM Home app for Google TV (yes, it exists in the Google TV app store). It acts just like the phone app but made for a TV/projector. This allows me to use all of my 9.2.2 speakers in my living room but have the nice front-end on the app and access all of my favorites, presets, etc. like I can from the amp itself or the phone app. I usually use my home theater remote control or the WiiM remote to control playback when playing over the projector. I especially like that I can use my voice on the remote to play music, too. All-in-all, I couldn't be happier with this device for the price I paid. It looks high-end with its full-color touchscreen, and the audio on the speakers connected directly to it is brilliant. Highly recommended. ... show more
