We generally enjoy single origin and lighter roasts. As much as we generally support our local roasters, this is a great option when folks are in a pinch or trying to save a few bucks when not in the mood for super premium coffee beans.

This light roast coffee truly delivers on flavor. It has a wonderfully bright and nuanced taste that really stands out – exactly what I look for in a good light roast. The aroma is inviting, and each cup is a pleasure to drink. My only significant disappointment, and it's a big one for coffee enthusiasts, was the roast date. The bag I received was roasted almost a year ago. While the flavor was still surprisingly good despite this, fresh-roasted coffee makes a noticeable difference in vibrancy and complexity. For a product that prides itself on flavor, a roast date that old is a definite drawback and something to be aware of. If they could improve the freshness, this coffee would be perfect. ... show more

This coffee didn’t quite live up to the flavor profile promised on the label. As a light roast, I expected a bit more brightness and nuance, but I found I had to grind it coarser than usual—more like a medium roast—to get a decent extraction. I brewed it as an espresso and got a fairly typical Costa Rican flavor, but the advertised orange and chocolate notes were barely noticeable. I’m going to try brewing at a slightly lower temperature to see if that brings out more of the subtleties, but so far it’s been underwhelming. Not bad, just not what I hoped for. ... show more

This Costa Rica light roast from Whole Foods is a solid everyday coffee. It's got a mild, slightly fruity flavor with a hint of chocolate – nothing too strong or bitter. This light roast whole bean coffee smells nice and very easy to grind. The coffee does not have any bitterness or acidity while have a subtle note of chocolate flavor. I found adding a tiny pinch of sea salt to brew it enhance the flavor to another level. I love it!
