The Westinghouse WGen5300DFc is a versatile solution for all your power needs from your home to your RV when you’re looking for a dependable backup power supply. With dual fuel ability, this generator offers versatility by running on either gas or propane (LPG). The WGen5300DFc produces 6,600 peak watts and 5,300 running watts with a powerful 274cc 4-Stroke OHV Westinghouse Engine constructed for durability. Running for up to 14.5 hours on a 4.7 gal. (18L) tank of gas, it's conveniently equipped with a built-in fuel gauge, and Push- Button Electric Start with a remote start key fob. The L14-30R 30A outlet is Transfer Switch Ready to supply total household power which eliminates the hassle for annoying extension cords or power strips. After suffering a multiple day power outage last summer, I knew a generator was needed. I did thorough research and the one brand which came up consistently is Westinghouse. I bought the 6600 watt dual fuel. It is easy to set up. Comes assembled. All you need to do is put in oil, gas, and connect the battery. Started up right away and ran well for a short test. This generator has good specs. The only thing it is missing that my cheaper generator had was an hour meter. It came and was delivered by an Amazon lift truck. The guy that unloaded it was a pretty stout guy. He picked it up all by himself and sat it in my garage. I tried to lift it out of the box but I'm not that strong. LOL. I purchased the option wheel and handle kit that was delivery a few days prior. I put the wheels on it and the front feet without much effort. I filled it with oil using the included funnel. It didn't make much of a mess that way. I filled it with gasoline and started to get it ready to start. First, I set the fuel selector to gasoline, opened the fuel valve, set the choke, connected the battery quick disconnect and turned the run switch to on. I pushed the start button and it cranked for several seconds but never acted like it would start. Oddly, it will try again if it doesn't start so I turned the switch to off after it didn't start on the second try. I let it sit a moment to hopefully get the fuel to the carburetor, but it failed to start on the second try and after a few minutes it failed to start on the 3rd try. At that point the battery was too weak to try again. I pulled the start cord a few times, but it still never acted like it was willing to run. Now, I'm a car guy and rebuild engines and carburetors. This acted like it wasn't getting fuel. I checked everything again and decided to give it a shot of starting ether as a test. It immediately sputtered and tried to run but quickly stopped once the ether was gone. It took me three tries with ether to get it to finally run on gasoline. I have no idea why it took that long unless the carburetor is faulty. Once running it seemed fine and powered a dorm fridge and microwave oven. After five minutes, I shut the fuel off to let it drain the carburetor of fuel. I find this is a good way to keep the carburetor from gumming up. I'm going to try it again tomorrow to see if it was a one-time thing. If it acts this way a second time, I'm going to ask for a replacement as a brand-new generator shouldn't be this difficult to start. ... show more

I bought this generator in October 2023. I didn’t want to run it on gas as I’ve had experience with two other gas generators and didn’t want the hassle. So I hooked up a new 20lb tank of propane and it started right up. I’m all smiles. In December I fired it up again, no problems. Started right up. I like to run it for a few minutes every few months. Mid April this year, I tried to start it again but this time it would not start. It would crank but never run. The battery has been on a trickle charger and it was fully charged. The propane tank was full and the valve was open. Mind you, this generator has never been run under load. So I filed a trouble ticket with Westinghouse. It took several weeks to get a confirmation email and several more to arrive at a fix. The fix was to replace the regulator which DID NOT solve the problem. I am very disappointed that a brand new machine, never run under load, would fail in just a few months. Westinghouse customer service is the worse possible. Buyer beware. 03-06-25 I spent half a day trying to get this machine running. The battery had been on trickle charge and was full. Propane tank was full. I changed out the propane hose and machine mounted regulator. After all of this, the machine would not start. The starter runs but goes not crank the engine. I called Westinghouse customer service because I thought the starter could be faulty. I was told it probably wasn’t the starter but the spark plug. I informed the rep that the machine has only been run on propane for the few minutes that it actually ran, and I didn’t see how the plug could be clogged. I haven’t pulled the plug yet but I still hold that the plug is ok. The next thing the rep suggested was to replace the gas/propane selector switch. Really? This machine is, for all intents and purposes, brand new. How could a major component fail after less than an hours run time (and never under load)? My humble opinion is that this machine is NOT WORTH the cost. And I’m left without an emergency backup, which was why I bought this piece of junk in the first place. I recommend not purchasing this unit unless you are a qualified mechanic. ... show more

Just got this generator last night. Setup was easy and straightforward. I was a little worried that the pull start would be difficult, but it started right up. After running a few minutes, I tried to the push to start on the generator and it fired right up. Then, I tested the key fob start/stop and it worked great as well. This will be really nice if we need it as Milton barrels through. Hopefully it will sit idle and we wont need it. I like the plug options and the ability to use propane if necessary. We have 3 freezers and 2 refrigerators to power in the event of a power outage. This generator will be a life saver if we need it. ... show more

I'm impressed with all of the options/flexibility this generator comes with. Battery start with key fob remote, dual fuel, every type of power output. I'm looking forward to getting this thing set up for this winter in Wisconsin! My new transfer switch is going in next week. Great generator started right upbout the box. After it sat over the winter I tried to start it and the battery looked to be dead. I charged the battery and still no power light or starting. It would not pull start with gas but did on propane. It would only run a few seconds then shuts down. After some research it turns out moisture gets in the power switch and ruins thr switch making the generator unusable. I ordered the part myself and spoke to Westinghouse. They suggested the same switch so I am asking them to refind the charge for the switch. I will post an updated review once I get the switch and install it. ... show more

We ordered this during hurricane helene and were pleasantly surprised. Unit starts and runs quiet, good power factor and clean voltage. Only tested with gasoline currently. The included remote keyfob was a nice touch, allowing for unit start/stop from inside our home. Plenty of amperage for our entire home with manual transfer mechanism. ... show more
