  • Very easy to use!
Style: 4650W Dual Fuel + Wheel Kit
After yet another storm-related power outage we finally decided it was time for a generator. We looked at many generators online and finally decided upon the Westinghouse model WGen3600DF. We are both elderly and do not have much money to play with and were lucky enough to find this model that met all the needs that were of concern to us, such as initial cost, cost of running, dual fuel, electric start, and most of all EASE OF USE. This model had everything we needed. It took less than 10 minutes to put the wheels on it,10 minutes to add the engine oil (that came with it), and 5 minutes to add 2 gallons of gasoline (It has a 4-gallon tank). it started immediately after pushing the electric start. We put it under load and tried the different front outlets with an electric drill ... no problems. When the off button was pressed, it shut down. We then unplugged the drill and tried starting with an electric starter on a key ring, which started immediately. We then tried the pull start, manually set the choke and it started the first pull, we were very happy. The second test was with the propane tank from the gas grill. We attached the hose that came with the generator, turned the fuel switch from gasoline to propane, and used the key fob to start it and it started immediately. The last test was simply turning the fuel switch to gasoline with the generator running, easy peasy it was now running on gasoline. This generator will run our lights, 2 freezers, television, and computer now during power outages. It is definitely worth consideration when looking for a home generator.! ... show more

  • Good quality generator
Style: 4650W Dual Fuel + Wheel Kit
While I just received this generator I've owned and operated plenty of generators working in construction. This generator seems very well built. Unboxing and set up is very minimal. The wheels are put on by a bolt and a hitch pin, it was a breeze. The feet use 10mm nuts (they include a cheap open end wrench). Adding oil was simple with the specialized funnel. I wish they would include a small bag to attach to the generator to keep the included tools and funnel but I'll make something up. This generator was bought to use with propane specifically so the winterizing/storage prep would be minimal. Really just oil changes. On that note they give you a nice maintenance chart that if followed I'm sure this thing will last for many years. First startup wasn't turn key per say. The choke set to auto has been unable to get the propane started but its a simple lever moved over while the auto start is kicking on. The battery had plenty of juice to trouble shoot things out of the box. Once started it is way more quite than comparable generators and ran very smoothly so that was nice. I didn't realize it came with a key fob for remote starts. This seems handy if you have it in the back of your truck or something like that but as a backup in my set up its just for show. They include a small charger for your battery that plugs in next to the outlets. Plugging this in I found 0 way to tell its actually working besides the wall wart gets warm. No indicator light on the adapter or the generator so this feels like a cross your fingers and hopefully its charged when you need it. Seems like a big oversite for a simple feature. Reading through the manual and trying to find information online was fruitless. I could still be missing something. On another note I gave this pull start a couple pulls when I was setting it up and the engine seemed well oiled and turned over surprisingly easy which gives me confidence as to the quality overall. Also if the battery fails I don't feel like I will be struggling much to get this going by hand. I haven't owned this generator long, but its a good generator and I would recommend it. ... show more

  • Great first impression overall!
Style: 4650W Dual Fuel + Wheel Kit
Really pleased with this generator at first impression! Very easy to install the feet and wheel kit, all tools necessary were included with the packaging. Filled it up with oil (included funnel was a really nice touch!) per the instructions and that's pretty much it from a setup perspective. Hooked up my propane tank via the included regulator hose and got ready to start her up for the first time. I have to say that the push button start is REALLY easy to use and a great feature! It literally started right up without much, if any hesitation. Used the key fob to shut it down and then restart it and it worked flawlessly! I do wish this model had an hours meter of some sort, but I guess that's not really all that big of a deal. The only minor inconvenience was the fact that one of the upper gas tank mounting points was a little warped looking. Really just a minor production mistake with no bearing on the functionality, but I'm kind of OCD, so I loosened the bolt and straightened out the mount. All in all, I'm definitely in love with this generator! On propane, it really wasn't that loud at all.. Super pleased with my purchase!! ... show more

  • Amazingly Versatile
Style: 4650W Dual Fuel + Wheel Kit
I purchased this generator to supply power to our RV trailer when we camped in wilderness areas. Once I received it and discovered how solidly built the generator was I immediately had an idea. I purchased a 30 amp automatic switch kit and installed it on my home. Now when we are at home our house is protected from outages and when we decide to camp in wilderness areas we are able to carry it with us to provide all the power we need. While this generator is not a generator that one would choose in order to supply power to an entire home in an emergency it will provide enough power to run the cooling or heating, our refrigerator, lights, and a couple of small appliances if we lose electricity during storms or local power outages. The generator has the versatility to do both jobs perfectly. The panel has a plug for our RV Trailer cord and a second 30 amp plug for the auto transfer kit cord. As a plus, there are also two 20 amp regular receptacles for use when I don't want to string a couple of hundred-foot cords when I need to power tools at the back side of our yard. This generator has an electric start and has a place to plug in the included wall-wart cord that will keep the battery charged during long periods of non-use. As I said in the title. this generator has amazing versatility. It even has a wheel kit included which is a plus. It only weighs a bit over a hundred pounds so is very easy to load or pull through our yard. If a generator for multiple uses is what you are looking for you should definitely give this one from Westinghouse a close look., I think you will be happy with it. ... show more

  • Life saver
Style: 4650W Dual Fuel + Wheel Kit
I needed a generator because we've been losing power off too lately. I've been dealing with some breathing issues and it was incredibly stressful to pack everything up and go to Indiana. It was easy to assemble. Once I had a dissemble it was easy to move. I'm gonna start it up tomorrow but I trust it's gonna work great and if not you'll know. I can run it with propane or gas which I'm sure will come in handy at some point. It is more than enough power each way to run what I need if the power goes out. All the instructions are easy to follow and with Amazon offering payments it made it easier on my wallet. I had ordered one prior to this and somehow I got lost but I ordered this and had 2 days later. So far it's been a great experience and I'm glad it worked out the way it did. Looking forward to trying the push button start/stop. And it just looks good. ... show more

  • Good machine to power my off-grid shop
Style: 4650W Dual Fuel + Wheel Kit
Use this to power tools in my off-grid wood shop. Works great but I can overload by running vacuum, planer and hogging a piece of oak. But it just turns off and can be restarted after cooling for a few minutes. I love the remote start!

  • On Hour 20 running on Propane - Use a Line Interactive UPS for Electronics
Style: 4650W Dual Fuel + Wheel Kit
I have a 16x40' Cabin. I bought this as a backup unit for power outages. I'm currently on hour 20 of continuous running off a propane tank (30 lb). I have it running a window AC (Inverter type which has less surge watts, mine is a Midea 10,000 U-Shaped Unit), a full size refrigerator, a small chest freezer, All my lights (LED) and two ceiling fans, plus electronics ***NOTE ON ELECTRONICS***. **Electronics** - This has very distorted harmonics on the power, so you should put a "Line Interactive" UPS battery backup (I got an APC 750 for $140 on Amazon) between this unit an any sensitive electronics (like Internet router and TV). There are generators that produce a cleaner sinewave. You CAN run electronics directly off of it, but you might fry something which would negate the affordable price of this generator. You need a "line interactive" UPS not just a "backup" UPS. This unit can surge a bit and every once in a while (when my refrigerator kicks on) my lights might flicker or go out for a beat... this is why I have a "line interactive" UPS on my router and TV. It has OK fuel efficiency... not the best, just OK. It's quieter than my last Generac portable generator. The remote start is nice, but if you are using propane you have to turn on the propane before starting then turn it off (at the tank) when it's not running. So that sort of negates the whole remote start thing for propane. Technically you want to turn off the fuel petcock when it's off as well. So this isn't just a plug in it to a fuel source then push the button to start and stop it type of unit. I connected this to my AC panel. This UNIT is ONLY 120 Volts. To run a full AC panel it should be 240 v. But I use it to just run half of my panel and I have my breakers arranged so that it runs what I want it to run. It will run my entire cabin but I turn off my water heater and don't try to run my washing machine while my AC is going. It's not a perfect unit. It's not magic. But I got a good deal when I bought it. It runs fine. I know to protect my electronics before I used it. I like that I can run it on Propane, because I can store propane without it going bad and the carb won't gunk up if it goes months without use. I've only had it for a week, so I can't say about reliability. ... show more
