*Detailed Review* We wanted a generator to primarily support our cruiser boat (30A plug) while out on the ‘hook’ overnight aka not connected to shore power. We were MORE than impressed by the power and efficiency this unit has. We purchased the 4000, dual fuel, remote start and all I can say is WOW! USE: The remote start / stop is a game changer for our use. We keep it on our swim platform, 20 or so feet from our cabin interior. It simultaneously powers our boats aircon or heat, stovetop, TV, refrigerator, coffee pot, microwave, and all other boat features (lights, water pumps, etc) simultaneously SEE VIDEO. We can start it and stop it from the comfort of our bed without having to get up when it’s cooled down / heated up inside. In the video you can hear it in the background outside the cabin, but you can tell it is not too loud as we aren’t trying to talk loud over it running. UTILITY: The machine weighs in the 60# range if I remember correctly, which makes it very portable for my husband. For those of us less strong, it has a nice pullout handle feature, which enables it to be pulled or pushed around with ease. So far we have only used the gasoline fuel but wanted both gas + propane for any reason one or the other may be unavailable. I also wanted to mention the auto off CO detection feature we inadvertently found out about- while the unit was mounted and secured to our swim platform, we needed to move the boat slowly 10’ or so. As such, when we turned the boat off after the move, we realized that the unit was off. We surmised the exhaust from the boat, directly under the unit, was enough to engage the generators CO sensor and turn it off. And that was an incredible feature we did not know it possessed. This feature is obviously for if the generator itself produces then is stagnant of CO, a safety shut off feature. EFFICIENCY: While out on the hook, we can run it at normal (non efficiency mode) for 8 hours on and off a day, 3-4 days of the week and maybe only go through 2.5-3gallons of fuel. My most appreciative use was during hurricane Milton over this fall. While we had intended it for boat use, it came in handy when we went down to check on our other home. During the power outage, we had the house refrigerator, the lanai refrigerator, TV, many cell phones etc, all plugged in , for 14 solid hours and maybe burned through 5 gallons of gasoline on the efficient mode. Works as advertised and started in one pull the first time on a propane tank once I made sure the connections were set. Portable, ideal weight to take on the road, and pretty quiet. See other five star reviews for more details, as I did prior to purchasing. Having the dual fuel versatility is key in an outage. A grill size propane tank should last nearly a day, which is 3 gasoline fills. Plus, I will try to never run on gasoline unless in emergency, as gasoline degrades and can degrade carburetor over time when sitting for longer periods, even with fuel stabilizer. Will keep the gasoline lines and components brand new as long as possible. ... show more

This review is for the iGen4000DFc model with remote start. Bought this unit right before the ice storms; intended for powering things in the house as well as for camping/tailgating. I lucked out and ordered right before the rush, so delivery was very fast and on time as advertised; I read several reviews where packaging can get mangled due to the weight, but this came with pristine packaging and was perfect. Unit was very easy to set up, all accessories were in the box as advertised. TIP: upon first start up, unit will take several attempts before the gas cycles through and all the residual oils in the engine burn off. I had to crank it up at least 6-7 times before it stayed lit and finally "took"; don't panic if it starts up for a few seconds, puffs out white smoke, then conks out for several cycles - keep starting it, it'll eventually stay lit then purr like a kitten. I love all the features and flexibility of this unit, more than checks off all my boxes. Luckily we didn't have an outage, but I tested it with a couple of space heaters (25 amps), a refrigerator (8.5 amps), and probably another 6 amps total of phones/laptops/internet modem and it didn't cough once, so A+ so far; the usage meter on it was also spot on indicating accurate amperage draw. Seemed to sip gas, and all 3 starting methods worked flawlessly (remote, push start, pull cord). NOT AS QUIET AS MANY SAY - it's not loud, but not quiet either; you would piss off many campers if you had this thing running all night. I'm going to add a silencer to it to quiet it down some more. Great unit so far, haven't put it thru the paces yet, but that's a TBD - will update this review if anything material changes as I put some hours on it. Price was great for what you get, and Westinghouse seems to have high reliability ratings, so fingers crossed this was a good purchase. Highly recommend. Update 2/6/26: Meant to mention in the first review - remote start is a nice-to-have, but kinda useless as you still have to be at the unit to turn the main power switch on/off before and after remote start/off. If you don't turn the switch off after shutting it down, you'll drain the on-board battery and it won't start (like a car). I am not sure if the pull cord will start it with a drained battery or not. ... show more

Dual Fuel! Remote start! 4000 peak watts. 30 amp plug. And lightweight, 62 lbs. Several other inverters with similar features were over 100 lbs and therefore less portable, at least for me. Everything I wanted. Powers the gas furnace, refrigerator, modem, electronics in case there's a power failure. Great value! Here's my issue. I couldn't make the unit's battery plug connection flush. It looks like a minor manufacturing flaw. There was a gap and one of the pins is visible. See the attached picture. It worked like this but didn't look right to me. I contacted Westinghouse and they said that the connection was safe "as is". While that may be the case, I didn't like the pin being exposed. The unit worked and I liked everything else about this inverter so I decided to address the issue for my comfort level. And this solution was easier than returning it. I found a small, thin rubber washer that I could fit around the pin so it was no longer exposed. Then I put electrical tape around the connection. It works in this configuration. I'm keeping it. This will be the perfect inverter to backup my home in case there's a power failure. If we have a power failure, I plan to use my 5 gallon propane tanks initially. If I run out of propane, I'll use gasoline. I can turn it off and on from inside the my home with the remote. ... show more

First pull start after adding fuel and oil. Quiet for the size. Great instructions and spare parts sheet. Large easy to follow operation knobs and switches. Seems like a higher end generator from what I used before. Shows alot of usable info on the control panel. Happy Camper.

I’m a 70-year-old Texas gal still kickin’ up dust in the barrel racin’ circuit, haulin’ my horses to every arena from here to kingdom come. Needed a generator for my horse trailer to keep that AC unit hummin’ on scorching days, but it had to be quiet enough not to rile my mare and easy enough for these old hands to fire up. Well, the Westinghouse 5000 Peak Watt Dual Fuel Inverter Generator is like findin’ a good gelding: reliable, gentle, and just what I needed. This thing starts with a button push, smooth as butter, no yankin’ cords like I’m ropin’ a steer. That little remote fob’s my favorite; I can turn it on from inside the trailer while I’m fussin’ with hay nets. Quiet? Lordy, it’s softer than a whisper in the barn, lettin’ me visit with folks or let the horses nap without wakin’ the whole campsite. Weighs about 100 pounds, but with them wheels and a handle, I can roll it around the hitch on my own, even on lumpy ground. Runs on gas or propane, whichever’s handy, and stretches a tank near 14 hours, keepin’ the AC cool as a cucumber all night. Plugs right into the trailer’s RV outlet, no messin’ with adapters, and takes that AC’s big startup jolt like it ain’t nothin’, then settles down to 3900 watts to keep us comfy. That CO sensor’s a blessin’ for safety ‘round the horses, and I love them USB ports for chargin’ my phone to check race times. Got 25 hours on it now, from sweaty rodeos to chilly hill country stops, and it’s never let me down. For an old cowgirl like me, this Westinghouse is as good as a cold sweet tea on a hot day. The Westinghouse 4000 dual fuel inverter generator has all the features at a good price! I connected to propane first and the generator started right up. Just flip the on switch and push the button. Then, I switched to gas and ran it. After running it for the 5 hour break in, running on gas, I plugged in a 30amp camper and ran the Furrion Chill 15K air conditioner and it ran fine. I ran the generator on eco mode and it ramped up to run the air conditioner. The ac ran at 1800 watts once started. The generator was louder than I had hoped it would be at 75db close to the unit running the a/c (not sure on the accuracy of a free iPhone app to measure the db). It would be fine to use for running ac for us in terms of operations and noise in the camper, but not unless we are far from others. If it turns out it does not get much use camping, it will work well for power failures at home. A lot of power in a small package that is easy to move around. The documentation is good and it seems like Westinghouse will support the product. 4 instead of 5 stars since the description says ultra and super quiet and I am not so sure I agree with the use of those terms. ... show more
