  • Smallest, lightest, and most power for the price point.
Style: 4000 Watts - Dual Fuel - Remote Start
Seems very well built and compact. Smallest, lightest, and most power for the price point. Surprisingly quiet. Once I located the battery wires to connect, everythingwent smoothly and it started right up. I connected it to my van conversion using the 30A RV outlet and it ran the AC with no problems. My only minor complaint is that the fuel strainer is SO fine as to make filling the as tank VERY slow. I haven't tried running it on propane yet but the electric start and the remote start work perfectly! Very pleased ... show more

  • Pleaseantly surprised by quick set up and electric start!
Style: 5000 Watts - Dual Fuel - Remote Start
Box arrived damaged and unsealed. No damage to product. Set up was quick with oil, battery, and propane accessories included. Once everything in place, the inverter started right up with the push button start. I let it run with a variable load for the engine to set in. Ran flawlessly and quiet! Shutdown was just as easy and it was easy to maneuver/pull with the two silver handles on top and the the reinforced "cooler-like" retractable pull handle. Seems to be a great value. ... show more

  • Great from top to bottom
Style: 5000 Watts - Dual Fuel - Remote Start
I hate incomplete instructions but the instructions provided are very good, not perfect, but near perfect. It even has a sheet that has all the parts and the type of oil to use, etc. for easy reference. I attached the cables of the battery, filled with oil (with a great funnel that screws in to the spout), added a bit of gas and I was off and running. I did have to pair the remote with the generator but the directions were super clear and I had no issue. Just press a button and it starts, turn it off just as easy. I really like the display that provides a bunch of vital info (fuel level, output, etc.). There is an eco mode that will provide only as much power that is needed to what is hooked up in an effort to save gas. I love that it is so much more quiet than other generators. I can still hear it running outside but it is a mid-level hum. Moving it is super easy too. I pull out the handle on the bottom to extend and then roll it on two wheels. I love being able to use both propane and gas. I have two spare propane tanks on hand in case of outage, if my gas can is not full and switching can be done on the fly. Finally, I love the fuel efficiency. I can run it for a very long time on one full tank. They really have thought of everything in this generator. ... show more

  • Good generator w/ some issues that buyers should know about
Style: 5000 Watts - Dual Fuel - Remote Start
I purchased this in Sept 2022 after a lot of online research & looking at generator reviews. I bought it for periodic power outages -- some planned, some not -- that happen in my rural location. I've used it at at least 6-8 times since initial purchase. In general, this machine provides ample power to keep things running during outages, including the frig/freezer, several lamps, a small heater, and a few small electronic devices. The advertised "super quiet" is real, given the amount of power put out compared to other generators I've seen in action. While hardly silent, you can hold a normal voice-level conversation standing next to it. I plan on building a sound-insulated "doghouse" for the generator to further muffle the sound (being careful not to get the walls too close to the exhaust port, which gets quite hot during operation). Four things to be aware of: 1) The first time I used it, the generator shut down after ~2 hours run time. It took some noodling to figure out what went wrong, but I determined it was user error -- I had a daisy chain of lite-weight 2-prong extension cords inside the house running off one much larger cord, and I think that tripped up the device. Lesson: minimize the number of cords you have running off it, and only use 3-prong, heavy duty cords (like the orange or commercial-grade yellow ones available at hardware stores). If you use the 30-amp socket, you should get a quality 30-amp plug with 2-3 outlets. 2) Really crappy design with the oil feature. The correct amount of clean 10-30 (4 cycle) oil is critical for proper functioning, but... it is hard to reach and unscrew the recessed oil plug (at least with big hands like mine), or read the tiny dipstick, or determine the actual oil level. And you're almost guaranteed to wind up with a messy spill when you add and/or change oil. You will find this issue called out on YouTube and user forums. There are apparently some good partial fixes for this that I'm heading to next, specifically the installation of brass/rubber tubes (Drainzit, available on AMZN) that can be attached directly to the drain plug, which will at least help the oil change process. But it's still frustrating to gauge the oil level. Westinghouse needs to fix this. 3) Weight. It's a beast, ~125 pounds before you fill it with 3.5 gallons of gas. This is not a design flaw obviously, but you need to be aware, especially when grabbing the PLASTIC extension handle to move it around. I am very careful when rolling it for fear that the handle will break off, and might build a dedicated cart with construction lumber and heavy-duty casters. (I cannot keep this outside permanently due to frequent extreme weather and have to bring it in after each use; this is obviously not an issue if you're using it in a location when it can just stay parked in one spot year round) Finally: I had one quick question about the machine. Attempted to contact Westinghouse Outdoor Power support. Like most big companies, their customer support sucks. No phone number that I could find, and their "chat" help line just didn't work. It timed out 4 times before I gave up and closed it. You're sort of on your own to figure things out on your $1,000 appliance. ... show more

  • A Great Unit that Functions Well.
Style: 4000 Watts - Dual Fuel - Remote Start
This is my 2nd Westinghouse inverter generator, the first one was the Westinghouse iGen4500DF . This model has retained the good functioning of the 4500DF, and improved on various usability features that make maintenance access much easier. The power output for both surge and normal operation is spot on with the stated specifications. In measuring with my iPhone app decibel meter at 25 feet from the inverter shows a slightly quieter noise level than the stated specifications. For RV use, this inverter is brilliant. At 72 years of age, I can lift the inverter into the back of my Ford F150 with no assistance; though it is not lightweight, it is manageable. For moving on the ground, the fold out handle and back wheels make moving form one location to the next a breeze. The 30 Amp RV plug in outlet works as intended and easily handled to startup surge of the 15000 BTU air conditioner. This unit handled both the microwave and the air conditioning was fine. The electric start and the remote start function well and make starting a breeze, and if need be the manual starter pull rope also gets things started with not much effort. All-in-all I have little to be negative about. Even the packaging of the inverter/generator was well done, and with UPS delivery it had not a scratch to the unit. My guess is that for those in the market for this sized output inverter, you will also be pleased with your purchase. ... show more
