  • Greta little generator
Style: 4000 Watts - Dual Fuel - Recoil Start
Exactly as advertised. Easy setup and start. Very quiet with no load, slightly more noise under load (as expected). Seems to be well made. Very intuitive. It handles the power needs of my 30’ trailer with power to spare. The handle balances the generator well for moving around. It fits perfectly under the tonneau cover on my truck for transporting. I haven’t used gasoline (just propane) so I can’t address any use with gasoline. ... show more

  • Incredible!
Style: 4000 Watts - Dual Fuel - Remote Start
The media could not be loaded. *Detailed Review* We wanted a generator to primarily support our cruiser boat (30A plug) while out on the ‘hook’ overnight aka not connected to shore power. We were MORE than impressed by the power and efficiency this unit has. We purchased the 4000, dual fuel, remote start and all I can say is WOW! USE: The remote start / stop is a game changer for our use. We keep it on our swim platform, 20 or so feet from our cabin interior. It simultaneously powers our boats aircon or heat, stovetop, TV, refrigerator, coffee pot, microwave, and all other boat features (lights, water pumps, etc) simultaneously SEE VIDEO. We can start it and stop it from the comfort of our bed without having to get up when it’s cooled down / heated up inside. In the video you can hear it in the background outside the cabin, but you can tell it is not too loud as we aren’t trying to talk loud over it running. UTILITY: The machine weighs in the 60# range if I remember correctly, which makes it very portable for my husband. For those of us less strong, it has a nice pullout handle feature, which enables it to be pulled or pushed around with ease. So far we have only used the gasoline fuel but wanted both gas + propane for any reason one or the other may be unavailable. I also wanted to mention the auto off CO detection feature we inadvertently found out about- while the unit was mounted and secured to our swim platform, we needed to move the boat slowly 10’ or so. As such, when we turned the boat off after the move, we realized that the unit was off. We surmised the exhaust from the boat, directly under the unit, was enough to engage the generators CO sensor and turn it off. And that was an incredible feature we did not know it possessed. This feature is obviously for if the generator itself produces then is stagnant of CO, a safety shut off feature. EFFICIENCY: While out on the hook, we can run it at normal (non efficiency mode) for 8 hours on and off a day, 3-4 days of the week and maybe only go through 2.5-3gallons of fuel. My most appreciative use was during hurricane Milton over this fall. While we had intended it for boat use, it came in handy when we went down to check on our other home. During the power outage, we had the house refrigerator, the lanai refrigerator, TV, many cell phones etc, all plugged in , for 14 solid hours and maybe burned through 5 gallons of gasoline on the efficient mode. As you can see, we are more than pleased with this Westinghouse unit and would recommend it. ... show more

  • Great Inverter-Generator for the Price
Style: 5000 Watts - Dual Fuel - Recoil Start
The generator arrived on the day promised on an Amazon delivery truck. It was packed in a sturdy box which showed no damage. It was completely assembled and fairly heavy, about 100 pounds. It came with a nicely printed documentation package which included a replacement parts list. There was a box of accessories which included a quart of oil, a funnel to pour the oil into the unit, and a pouch of tools. My unit was made in Vietnam. I put oil into the unit using the funnel, which is pretty much required to get oil into the crankcase. It took about 75% of the quart to get 2/3 of the way up the dip stick. I fueled it with 87 octane ethanol free gasoline. I flipped the ON switch, fully choked it, and started pulling the starting rope. It took a total of 12 pulls to start it. At around pull 8, it putted a time or two. I pulled it a couple more times before moving the choke to 1/2. It then started on the second pull. It would probably have started sooner had I reduced the choke after the first putt. After running a while, I stopped it and tried to restart it. It starts best with some choke applied even when it is warm. It runs at a very low noise level. Its noise level is about the same as another generator I have that is less than half the power output. The data center provides some good information such as fuel level, runtime, and output load. I ran it for about an hour, never loading it above 1 KW. The break-in period is 5 hours at no more than 50% load. It ran well and supplied all the loads I tried just fine. I expect that it will provide years of reliable service. Also, Westinghouse has a very good website to support its products, including this unit. ... show more

  • Good but…
Style: 4000 Watts - Dual Fuel - Remote Start
I thought I got a dud generator. This is mainly for camping in places with no hookup with my camper. When I first unboxed it I was happy with it and its appearance. The LED screen and all the buttons are nice, BUT… I put oil in it and followed directions perfectly and it wouldn’t start. I pulled the plug. No spark. I emailed customer care, they were quick to help me. They started a claim and everything was moving forward with an exchange. In the meantime, I added a little more oil to see if that was the cause, and guess what..? It fired right up. The problem is the instruction explicitly tell you NOT to overfill the oil. Well, they give you this nice little bottle of oil, maybe 8 ounces, so I’m figuring well I probably shouldn’t use the whole bottle since there’s fear of overfilling. Well, you just have to use nearly the whole bottle. And, you can check the oil on the dipstick but new oil in a new machine never looks like it should on the dipstick. I’m glad I figured it out. Learned that when the oil is low, there is a cutoff sensor and it totally cuts spark from the starter so it won’t run. A nice fail safe, just confusing instructions. I’m happy with the purchase now. It’s got about 15 hrs of use. Propane and gas work nice. Propane is a little quieter but less power produced. Still, a nice option for camping since most people have propane in the campers. ... show more
