Style: 3/4" Natural Gas Hose - 15'
I bought a Westinghouse WGen9500TFc tri-fuel portable generator. I bought this hose separately as a very conservative precaution to ensure that the generator would receive ample natural gas flow, even when we're using natural gas in other areas of the house (e.g., furnace, hot water, cooking, etc.). I'd read and realized that this hose is meant for the higher-capacity Westinghouse generators, but didn't interpret that to mean that the hose is *incompatible* with the lower-capacity generators such as the one that I'd bought. Also, when I read the references to "3/4-inch diameter," I'd assumed that the difference was only in the hose itself and that the connectors at the end would be the same size as those on the 1/2-inch diameter hose. All of that being said, when I received the hose, it was immediately obvious that the connectors on the hose were too large for the connectors on my generator and natural gas stub. I called Westinghouse to see if they sell an adapter that would enable me to use the hose with my existing smaller connections. I was told that they do and was given a part number (505498), but that part number would not appear to accomplish my objective. I separately e-mailed Westinghouse’s customer service and was told that 1) this hose is not recommended for generators with 1/2” fittings, 2) there is no adapter that would make this hose work with 1/2” fittings, and 3) I’d need to hire a properly certified plumber to set it up so that this hose would work with 1/2” fittings. I thought I'd share my experience in case anyone else is wandering the same journey. I've given this four stars, because it's a very substantial and robust product that I'm confident would've served my purposes very well if it actually fit my generator and stub. I docked it a star only because of the suboptimal product description that sent me down this road and the suboptimal (albeit “ok” and “friendly”) customer service that initially provided me with some incorrect information that prolonged my effort.
