  • Mind officially blown! 🙌
First off, when I saw this, the first thing I thought of was an Ibanez Destroyer. My holy grail guitar is an '81-'82 Ibanez Destroyer II DT300FR, like the one that Adrian Smith from Iron Maiden played in the early '80s. So, when I saw this for $239 with a $20 coupon ($219 before taxes), I had to jump on it. So I did some quick research and seen a bunch of good reviews (some slightly negative, but it was all easily fixable), and I bought it. When I get a guitar in, the very first thing I do is inspect the fit and finish. This one wasn't 100% perfect, but it was a solid 99/100. And it wasn't damaged, just a couple of finish flaws. So far, I only found a couple of small blemishes on the edge of the binding by the output jack. It wasn't damaged or anything, it's just the binding is a little misaligned at that particular spot (not much at all, like 3/4 of an inch) and around the edge, there was a miniscule indention in the wood that was cleared over. No biggie. The second thing I do is tune it up and just jam on it. This thing outperforms many big name guitars that's in the $500-$800 range, but at less than half of the price. The hardware works perfectly. I'm not sure if I'm going to need to replace anything yet, but time will tell. The tuners were as easy to use as the Gotoh tuners that I put on my fully modded Jackson Rhoads. The bone nut is cut perfectly. The bridge does it's job, as in it's a tune o matic. You just adjust it and go. The electronics are completely noiseless even running it on the Ultra channel through my Peavey XXL boosted with an Ibanez Tube Screamer. The alnico pickups sound great. It can go from Joe Bonamassa to Slayer with no problems at all. Everything on it works perfectly and it stays in tune. The only things I plan on doing to it is put some Ernie Ball slinkies, installing Dunlop flush mount strap locks, polish the frets a little, and lightly sand the edges down on the neck binding to give it a more "played in" feel. Other than that, it's perfect for me. Set maple neck with headstock volute, thick mahogany body, body and neck binding, actual flame maple veneer, rosewood fretboard, bone nut, no sharp fret ends, all for less than $250! My only two gripes about it is the binding edge on the fretboard (which I plan on fixing later on), and it was shipped in a single box. BUT. They shipped it very well protected by a completely form fit slab of styrofoam and the usual foam sheet thingy was wrapped around the guitar itself. It was completely protected, I just wish there was an outer box to cover the "Westcreek Guitars" logo so nobody in the neighborhood would be tempted to walk off with it. If you want a great guitar at a crazy affordable price, get this. You won't regret it. I know I don't. 🤘 PS, I been seriously playing guitar (and working on them) for the last eight years, and you'd be surprised at how many "budget" guitars will outperform the biggest names in the industry. ... show more

  • Great Value for the Money, Especially if you have some Guitar Experience
Color: Purple
Out of the box, all I had to do was change strings, tune up and the guitar played great, it really did. The strings it comes with were terrible and dirty. Once I took them off, I wiped down the fretboard, cleaned the neck a little bit etc. Put the new set of strings on and was good to go. I was expecting to have to do a little home-guitar-set up or if it was really rough, a pro set up. But I did not have some of the experiences others buying this guitar have had. YMMV. Maybe I got lucky, maybe the company is doing a better job recently. I did not have to adjust the bridge/action. I did not have to adjust pickups. There were no intonation problems. Volume and tone pots were clean and worked well. Frets are great. No issues with the nut. I even went up a gauge in strings (9-46) and the channels in the nut were still just fine. I really put this guitar through its paces the first weekend I had it with a long jam session. In my rig, at volume and compared to my other primary guitars; this guitar is going to need a new pickup (s) So that's what I did. I already ordered a new bridge pickup for 100 bucks. Even after installation, I am only going to be into this guitar for about $300 bucks. CAN"T BEAT IT IMO. I could have bought a p/u set for 200 but since that would double the cost of the guitar and I hardly ever use the neck p/u anyways, I went bridge only. I had my eye on this guitar because it looks sick! and the Price was an eye opener and an eye-brow raiser at the same time. I read all of the reviews here; did some further research and kept watching it. Finally pulled the trigger on Amazon Prime day when there was a coupon available. That made the price under 200. I would say this is a great beginner guitar; or a great secondary guitar if you are an intermediate player. Especially vs paying several hundred dollars to over 1000 dollars for even an Epiphone Explorer. And you can't find Ibanez Destroyers hardly at all. ... show more

  • Impressed

I’ve played guitars for years and own several guitars from cheap copies to top of the line Fender and EVH brands. Amazing quality, sound, aesthetics, and ergonomics for a guitar this inexpensive. Great job Amazon, making a good quality guitar available to those that can’t afford a Gibson or Epiphone Explorer. It came ready to play except for a minor bridge height adjustment to eliminate minor string buzz. I did some minor adjustment to fine tune the intonation. The E string did break but I ordered one off Amazon for a dollar and got it next day. The neck plays well and sounds good on clean and distortion channels, good “hot” pickups. I’ll probably eventually adjust the truss rod a little. Anyone that doesn’t know these adjustments can Google them. There are many good How to Videos and you will learn more about the instrument and how to set it up to your preference. Pretty tough to have a Guitar Tech set up every guitar for this price range and guitars do need adjusting as they age. Better to learn now with a $200 dollar guitar so you know your stuff when you become a rock star and can afford a $10,000 Gibson Explorer. Good luck to everyone that gets one. Rock on. ... show more
