    • I'm not a paddle expert, but I love this paddle.

I just got into kayaking and am not, by far, any kind of gear expert. With that said, I needed a paddle for a kayak I just bought that did not come with one. I purchased a Bending Branches Whisper but, alas, it wasn't going to be here in time for a planned outing. So I bought this one, knowing I was going to be buying another kayak soon anyway. The only paddles I have used are the Bending Branches model, something else fairly low end and heavy-ish (Aquabound maybe?) and a Werner Camano. I tried the Camano on a test paddle of an Eddyline Skylark. Man, that is an awesome paddle. That was what I actually wanted, but didn't want to spring for it right now. Kinda regretting that. With that said, this Skagit is NICE. It's quite light and while I have only been out once with it, the performance difference over the lower end paddles was night and day. Like I mentioned, I am a VERY novice beginner, so I can't speak to feather and whatnot. I just stick it in the water and go, and I like it a lot. I feel like it is a nice middle-of-the-road-price-point paddle. I will probably splurge on the Werner Camano at some point, or a Gearlab Kalleq. But for now, I am liking this one a lot and would definitely recommend giving it a try. ... show more

Bought from Outdoor play directly from their website. Didn't receive a confirmation email or shipping email but paddles arrived super quickly considering they're on the opposite side of the country. Haven't paddled yet but spent a lot of time looking at and comparing paddles. Anything by Werner just seemed to have a much higher build quality. No rattle or slop on the connector, no micro ridges on the carbon shaft, super stiff blades, little window on the connector showing the feather angle. Lots of attention to detail. ... show more
