I’ve been welding and doing fabrication work for a bit over 20 years now, so I’ve used quite a few machines over the years. I bought this one mostly to keep around as a small portable FCAW unit for quick jobs outside the shop. So far it’s been doing what I expected. It’s obviously not meant to replace a full shop machine, but for the price it actually performs pretty well. Setup was simple and nothing about it really surprised me. I saw one review mentioning wire feeding issues. I didn’t run into that myself. From what I could tell it looked like the machine may have been in Spot Time mode, which changes how the trigger works. If you don’t realize it’s in that mode it could definitely seem like a feeding problem. The gun connection works fine but the locking tab is a little on the small side, so you have to give it a pretty firm twist to get it fully seated. Once it’s locked in it stayed put for me, but if you’re dragging the machine around a job site a lot it might be something worth checking once in a while. The rubber cover on the ground clamp connector spun a little on the brass pin when I first got it. Not really a big deal. I put a little glue on it and that solved it. All in all I’d say if you’re a DIY guy working on small steel projects around the house this thing makes a lot of sense for the money. For someone like me it also works fine as a simple portable welder for lighter stuff like tubing or sheet metal. Just keep realistic expectations and it does the job.

I'm probably the worst person to do a welder review. I haven't welded much since I was a teenager. It comes with 'most' of what you need to stick/mig weld out of the box--the missing bits are gloves, wire or sticks and gas--and arguably a good eye/face shield. It comes with a handheld shield and clip-in lens which seems OK in a pinch, but the lens doesn't seem quite dark enough for prolonged use. The build quality of the welder seems pretty good and the attachment quality seems OK. The unit is small and lightweight for easy portability. Being able to use the plug adapter further lends to the portability since you can usually find a 110V outlet nearby. The display is readable and the controls are easy to navigate. I've only tested with stick welding and 110V power since that's what I had. It seems like it has plenty of power for smaller thinner material like I would typically want to work with. I suspect it works better with 220V power but I don't have an outlet in my garage. Though I only tested stick welding, I did make sure to check that the wire feed and gas valves were functional--the feed seems to turn respond to different settings. I could hear solenoids clicking too. The unit seems quite versatile compared to what was available 35 or 40 years ago. I will update my review as I get to use it more and/or if I encounter any issues.

Man I looked for a machine like this for some time and it fills the build for what I do. I retired and took up welding art work as hobby and have another multi process machine but this smaller machine is more sutied for what I do. It welds smooth with little regard to amperage. Also, this machine is so darn portable, it can be brought to my camp to do all the little welding work that I do there. I will demonstrate this machine to my 40 member hunting camp and I am sure they will be interested enough to purchase one for themselves. Thanks for making me new "little Friend".

This is a very small MIG welder. It is great for beginners, easy to use. I had more trouble getting the wire to feed correctly into the automatic feeder tube that sends the wire through the hose to the welding tip. Make sure the tip of the wire is straight to get it to feed properly. I think this mechanism could be designed better. I was not pleased with the supplied hood at all and you are better off buying a welding hood separate and just throw away the included hood. With that said the auto sensing features are as the add indicates, and it takes a little time to learn how to use all the features for different types of welding applications. This is a very good bench top small job welder for home use. If you do a lot of welding get a better welder. The value for the price is good, if you want to weld larger items and thicker materials thicker than 1/4 inch you are better off with a larger, heavier duty machine. If you do a lot of welding of small items this is great for that. Do not expect to custom build a trailer or wrought iron fence with this. You can weld hinges onto a metal post with this, it will just take a little more effort than a bigger welder. Prep is important and safety first. Get the welding gloves a better hood and welding protective clothing. With this welder the thinner softer welding gloves work and welding gloves start out stiff but get broken in over time. Also there are online mini courses for welding as well as beginner welding classes at many universities. This WELDPRO MIG welder is not a toy. It is a tool that needs to be respected and handled in a professional manner. You can create a lot of neat projects with this tool so have fun. Also I had no problem using a 50 ft extension cord with this welder, so because of its small size and light weight it can be used all around the home outside.

The media could not be loaded. This welding machine is only for occasional use. It only works with self shielded flux core wire. It does not have provision for gas. It of course also has Stick mode and includes a stinger. It also shows lift tig possible in the manual but you would need to purchase a torch separately and it would have to have external gas hook up. With that being said it’s decent quality. The adjustments are all digital and fairly easy to figure out. It does have some professional features like arc force and hot start. The design of the machine good but, again not for heavy use. It’s light weight and compact. The power output seems comparable to my Hobart 140 Machine. For the price I would say it’s a decent value.
