They DO have a smell but it went away when I let them air out for a day or two. Just tossed em on my desk and wiped em down with a barely damp cloth. I wipe em every night with a damp cloth but that's cuz headphones always make me break out if I don't, doesn't matter what material. I saw people saying they had to cut the foam on the inside to get better sound and I have to agree. After cutting some of it out they sound much better and it doesn't effect the comfort for me. I fall asleep with my headphones on sometimes or lean my head against my cheek, the ear pads are thick enough that my ears aren't grinding against the...cup? And causing sores like my headphones used to. These pads were a major upgrade on my hyperx flights, the original ones. Fit just fine too! Nice and thick, actually make em fit better on my head and improve the sound imo. I genuinely wish I bought replacement pads sooner. Also don't get white if u lean on ur headphones, mine are getting uh, waxy. It just looks gross but I imagine it happens no matter what. I'd say get black or somethin ... show more

    • Upgraded my uncomfortable headset

I bought a Turtle Beach Recon 70 and the headset was really uncomfortable. It was giving me a headache. I thought if I upgraded to a thicker ear piece that it might help. These were a little more expensive than some other options, but the reviews were pretty good. They were a little bit of a pain to install. It took me a good 30 minutes or so to get the hang of it. I think the big issue is that the Recon 70 doesn’t have much space for the edge to go into. It is probably easier on other headsets. They feel night and day compared to the stock ear pieces. It’s about twice as thick and it feels like my ear is cupped inside. It no longer feels like my head is in a vice. I saw some people report sound quality issues. I didn’t notice any. The inside piece has more padding than my stock ones, so maybe it’s possible. I noticed less outside noise interference than the stock ones, but I wouldn’t tout the “noise cancelling” abilities. Overall, I feel like my headset is more comfortable and I’m happy with them. ... show more

    • Great Replacements But..
Really like the comfort these provide, as well as the increased sound-isolation that these bring. You'll see many other reviewers knock these for the changed sound, to that I'll say "What did you expect?". To provide the noise-isolation you need to have denser materials, that will cause resonance with your treble causing it to come off a little less clear, along with giving the bass less gaps to escape, increasing it. This should be expected. The reason I'm leaving a 2/5 review is because mine came pre-opened and with specks of dirt inside the ear pads. I've contacted the seller and will modify my rating in the future to reflect their customer-service quality. Edit: The customer service was entirely unhelpful and won't take action unless you videotape yourself opening the package. Take note, strap a gopro to your head when opening. ... show more

    • Holy crap the smell.
When I opened the package it had a very particular strong odor that was definitely made worse by being sealed in the ziplock bag it came in, I tried letting it air out for a few days but it still smelled really weird. Luckily the return was a breeze. Can't say if all of them are like or if I was just unlucky. If had to hazard a guess I'm guessing the foam on the inside got wet before the pleather was wrapped around it. But it's just a guess. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. these cushions are very comfortable and fit a lot of headsets. It was easy to install and i would recommend them if you are looking to upgrade the style and comfort of your headsets.

Used these on my audiotechnicas which sat more on the ear and these totally changed the game in regards to wearing them. Definitely more comfy than the default because of the increase diameter and the foam feels more pillowy and is a bit taller than the default. They fit over the ear now which means my piercings don’t get irritated now which is a merciful change. As a fun bonus my headphones now kinda coordinate with my bass :) ... show more

    • STIIINKS and Muffles the sound
These are terrible, not only did they reek of a fishy-chemical-plastic smell the material inside the pad was too thick and muffled the sound. I cut out the inside fabric and the sound was better but my ears rub against the plastic of my headphones. They just stunk so bad it made me feel sick, I had to shower after wearing them b/c the stank stuck to me. The smell went away after a month or so. I'll hang on to these as "emergency pads." ... show more

    • They started to smell like fish after one week.
These earpads were on a hyperx cloud alpha, they sound twice as better than the original hyper x earpads, deeper bass and better mids and highs. They are some what comfortable earpads , they will start to hurt my ears after a few hours of use, the memory phone is okay, and the fake leather is actually very soft. Only problem is... after a few days of use they started to smell like a chemical fish, hard to explain except for fish. I WAS NOT sweating in these headphones at all since it was late winter time. The earpads started to react with my skin i guess and made a very unpleasant smell. SMELLS LIKE A FISHY CHEMICAL SMELL. BUY BRAINWAVZ OR DEKONI INSTEAD ... show more
