Description

The Green Rhino Overdrive Mark IV is smaller and more compact than its ancestors, but it has more force than ever behind its mighty charge. In addition to the Volume, Tone, and Drive controls of the original, this beastie has the MI's 100Hz control and an all new 500Hz control so you can to cut or boost your lows and midst by 12dB each way. Make your notes shake the ground like a stampede across the savannah or cut through the mix like a rushing rhino’s horn. Want to take this pedal back to its ancestral roots? Just throw the Classic switch to get the simple Volume, Tone, Drive setup and sound of the original Green Rhino Overdrive. The MkIV is as versatile as it is rambunctious, and it’ll come to heel if need be. It can take a clean amp from pristine purity to a punchy, dynamic rhythm tone, but put it in front of a distorted channel, and you’ll hear more gain and sustain than you ever thought your amp was capable of.

  • Top Dog Tube Screamer Type Pedal
I have a few tubescreamer clones at my disposal as I have the pedal acquisition sickness we all know as GAS. This tubescreamer spin-off is unique in that you can set the low and mid corner frequencies to taste and also, this one has not only significant volume boost, but also more gain on tap that the typical tubescreamer. I don't think it's an overstatement to say that this pedal smokes the original Ibanez tube screamer, because it simply does. Not only doesn't it provide a fantastic boost to a tube amp on the edge of breakup, but it also can provide it's own more than acceptable gain on a clean channel and still sound like a tubescreamer. Next and as importantly, it has enough headroom to be stacked with other pedals and not clip, but enhance the pedals it's stacked with. In my case, I run a Way Huge Pork Loin into the Green Rhino and it's simply sublime, smooth and beautiful sounding. O.K., that's the last of the tone secrets I'm giving way today. If you combine these pedals, cut a killer album and become famous for your exceptional tone, make sure you give me credit. Fender Strat>Way Huge Pork Loin>Way Huge Green Rhino> DSL5C w. • Might work better for Guitar then Bass.
I go this pedal to use on Bass the Effect did not give me the sound I was looking for. But I returned the pedal because the on/off switch didn't work as smooth as it should have.

  • green is good
I really like this pedal so far. The small tone boost knobs really lift your lows and soar your highs, it is a nice touch. The new size is much appreciated, save yourself some space. heavy like the older versions. Well constructed, except for maybe the battery cover. It is a little cheap and doesn't close very tightly. If I could do 4.5 stars, that would be the -.5. Sound is great, I would look up on youtube to hear the older green rhinos, it is nearly identical. I can get clean or crunchy punchy. Will update as I play with it more. ... show more

  • Must buy for fans of LOW LOW END GUITAR FREQUENCY
Just an awesome pedal, its first in my chain and always on, if you love that low end whomp on your tone this is your pedal, if you want to sound like bands like metallica, tool, metalcore bands etc this is not the pedal for you. This pedal has such dynamic range on the sound too playing with the knobs you can get so many different tones. In my opinion a must have for guitarists bored of typical distortion. Combine it with a BIG MUFF for an orgasmic dirty tone. ... show more

  • You won't regret it.
If you play bass you will love this pedal, you can shape your low end tone in several ways. This pedal also has some of the richest distortion around. If you buy it you won't regret it.

  • Solid TS Clone with extra flexibility
This pedal will give you great bluesy light overdrive, and is best used to push a tube amp. There is very little boost volume or gain on tap here, and diming the gain will just give you a rumbly tone sort of like a small 10-inch speaker being driven just a bit too loud. Note that while the the 100 and 500 Hz knobs give you a lot of extra choice in dialing in your tone, it's easy to dial in tones that are not very good and it can take some effort to find the sounds you want. If you're not a tone-tweaking sort of person, you may be better of with one of the Ibanez or Maxon tube screamers as they're much easier to dial in. I found that cutting the 1/500 Hz knobs completely and gunning the tone and gain gave a unique "pocket AM-radio" sort of tone, which might be useful as an intro effect in a song. If you're looking to get that classic tubescreamer-style tone, this will give it to you. Plus, you get the added tonal added flexibility of the boost/cut knobs. ... show more

  • A Mean Green Driving Machine
A mean green driving machine. I'm quite impressed with this pedal and I love how you can configure it from a lightly driven sound to an all out, near fuzz-like kind of grit. I especially love the dip-switch that allows you to switch between the MK IV circuitry to the MK II circuitry and I was amazed at how much of a difference there was between the two circuit styles. I had a little experience with Way Huge in dealing with the Aqua Puss and I'm honestly quite happy with these pedals. ... show more

  • Very welcomed addition to my pedalboard!
I absolutely love this pedal! I had been looking for an overdrive pedal for a while, but most of the ones i would try, including the classic Tubescreamer, would always cut out my bass frequency and make my guitar sound thin. My amp is already a decently bright amp, so combining that with a classic TS was just creating a not pleasant sound. The ability to add both low end, as well as some better mid controls with this pedal were a HUGE selling point to me, and once i dialed in my sound i fell in love. Plus having the switch to turn off the added features is nice, as you never know when you might want to turn them off for a lead or while plugging into another amp to try new things. ... show more
