  • Warne Mounts = High Quality
Size: Medium Style Name: Vertical
I purchased these rings (and bases..) to mount on a moderately heavy recoiling Weatherby Vanguard. My original intent was to mount the scope with Weaver Quad Lock rings on Redfield bases. I changed my mind and decided to go with the Warne all-steel mounts instead. At first glance, and without doing any research, these mounts are not the easiest to use. Because of the vertical orientation of the split ring, it takes a little more time and effort to install these mounts correctly. That is not to say that it is particularly difficult, just different. For someone who has installed scopes previously in standard design mounts (horizontally split rings..) it takes a little thought to get it right. If you take the time to lightly attach the rings to the scope before mounting to the bases, it all comes together much easier. These rings are machined and finished beautifully. The mating surfaces are smooth and offer plenty of surface area to hold the scope without slipping. The crossbars are machined to tolerance and fit closely into the Warne bases (a good reason to purchase the bases along with the rings..). I have used these mounts previously and have NEVER had a scope shoot loose up to .416 and .458. Properly installed these mounts are bulletproof. One item worth noting is the weight. These mounts are relatively heavy. You would not want to install these on a lightweight mountain rifle...probably. Where these mounts really show their value is on large, heavy recoiling rifles. And on those rifles, weight is not typically an issue. I currently have these mounts on two rifles. One is a custom .378 Wby that can really hurt you with recoil. The other is this Vanguard in .300 Wby. I wanted the extra margin of strength that is present in this mount and the result is rock solid. I don't think you can find a better quality mount even though it does take a little more effort to install correctly. ... show more

  • Best mount for the money and then some!
Size: High Style Name: Vertical
Most scope rings has one side that clamps down. That is not an issue when a rail is precision machined AND the base of the ring matches the rail. If the mating of the rail and the ring clamp is less than perfect, most rings end up offset from bore center and has minimal contact with the rail. This often results in insecure scope mount where a bump or heavy recoil can move the POI all over the place. The Warne Maxima rings solve this problem by clamping together as two equal halves. This eliminates the whole problem of bore offset as long as the scope rail aligns with the bore. Furthermore, the clamp of these rings is precision angled and machined. Just hand tightening using a 1/4" bit makes a ring feel secure and not wobbly on a rail (unlike the single sided clamps). Another advantage of the Warne Maxima rings is the overall width is actually very manageable compared to other double screw rings. This is an advantage for short scopes where there is not much tube length to clamp onto. As far as mounting the rings is concerned, here is the method that I use. Mount the ring onto the scope first, just hand tighten using a 1/4" bit. I usually loosely tighten the top of the ring first so that the scope won't "escape". This gives you the flexibility at the base to fit the clamp onto the rail. The bar to fit into Picatinny slots is easy to fall out. I gently squeeze the two halves of the ring while fitting it on a rail so the bar does not drop off. When it is in position, I loosen the squeeze so the clamp opens up enough to fit into the tail. Then I just tighten the base screws to gently hold the whole ring in place. This is harder than with a one-side-clamp design, but it is worth it! It is also important to note that these are steel rings, not aluminum. Despite the compact size, the Warne Maxima rings are heavier than similarly sized aluminum rings. On the other hand, steel is stronger than aluminum. I have stripped aluminum rings using recommended torque settings (20 to 22 lb-in). Not on these rings! I like these rings because of the design, precision machining and choice of material. Being made in the U.S. is icing on the cake. I know I will purchase more Warne Maxima rings in the future for all my scoping needs! ... show more

  • Best rings money can buy!
Size: Medium Style Name: Vertical
These are the most solid and tough rings you can buy for the money! I have 5 sets of them and none of them have failed or loosened up. They take a little getting used to as far as mounting but once u get the hang of it they are easy to set up. Absolutely the best bang for the buck! You will not be dissapointed. They obviously are a little heavier than aluminum. However, remember this tou get what you pay for and you will never have to worry that these rings are going to bust or break on you because they are solid steel. Tip: you should probably make sure you lapp the rings when u mount them for a precise fit. But you don't have too. ... show more

These feel super heavy duty. A bit bulky and heavy but don’t think I’ll have to worry about their durability. A little pricey but I wanted good quality rings.

  • Machine quality is great, finish quality lacking
Size: Low Style Name: Horizontal
I had to order two sets of rings, first set had crooked recoil lugs in each ring. The second set i ordered were dimentionally very nice. Machined well, no burrs or issues with the i.d. of the rings. Fit perfectly. However the finish was lacking quality. Small divots in the powdercoat or whatever finish they use. A couple marks even into, and as deep as the base metal. Yes these are $50 rings and that is to be expected. They are better quality than VTX rings costing twice as much. These rings did not need lapping. Overall super happy with the purchase. Just make sure to check everything! Look for any burrs or things that will ruin your scope when torqued down. ... show more

  • Solid Rings
Size: Medium Style Name: Horizontal
Really nice rings for the money. Finish is good but the machining is great and they pull tight to the picatinny rail surface unlike other rings I’ve run. Paired with a Warne Picatinny 15 Moa Rail on my CZ457. Would buy again

  • The last rings you
Size: Medium Style Name: Horizontal
i have these rings on all of the rifles in my many safes. they set up exactly the same every single time. they torque to the same tolerances, they hold zero perfectly and i have even found that the rings are machined so well the top caps can be switched between batches and checked with bore gages and be identical. for the money you cannot beat what Warne is offering with these rings. the fit, functionality, look and quality are head and shoulders above others i have used. ... show more
