    • Nice but a few assembly issues
A solid piece as designed. Good wood and finish. I did have some assembly issues. As stated in another review, the dowel pin holes were mis-aligned by about1/8 inch. That's a lot for a 1/2 inch pin. You have two choices at this point. Trim the angled cuts on the cross piece or flatten one side of the dowel pins. I put a flat side on the dowels using a wood file. I did not trim them for the full amount of the visual mis-match. I probably went just over halfway. I then started the dowels, with the flat side against the legs, using some hammer taps. I finally drove them into place with a block of wood to protect the dowel and a 16 oz hammer. Its a tight fit, but its solid! I also would recommend some 5/16 flat washers for the screws that are used to attach the legs. With the washers, the screw heads can't compress the wood around the holes. It will make a much stronger attachment over the long run. ... show more

This is a beautiful stool. Very versatile. It wasn’t as easy to put together as I thought it would be, but it went together just fine with a little muscle. I love it and I am saving to buy another!

    • Pegs too big
Beautiful piece of wood. Rated a 4 because pegs are too big for holes on support bar. Tried to get them in with a mallot. Now one is stuck partially thru the hole the other broke inside the hole. Now there will be an expense to have fixed.

These are nice sturdy benches, and we love the wood, however they are both clearly 4 inches bigger than described. Assembly was easy and needed no directions in which there were none you just need significant strength or power tools.
