  • Good replacement part and pretty easy to install if you are handy.
I was replacing a complete exhaust system on a Scion XB; from the "Cat" back. I also purchased the matching muffler. The installation was pretty easy. I was lucky enough to have the use of a lift. My resonator pipe was rusted out right before the resonator itself. All that needed to be done was to cut off the pipe just before the resonator and to disconnect the clamp that clamps the resonator output pipe to the muffler. Im MY case the muffler was changed as well. You will need a "doughnut" gasket and clamp to transition from the resonator to the muffler. The clamp, also as walker part, is fairly expensive for an OEM style clamp. I don't recommend a cheaper clamp for the job. The resonator simply slips over the existing pipe coming off the existing catalytic converter. Don't cut it too short. This connection can be clamped with a regular "U" type exhaust clamp. A bit of exhaust putty will ensure that there are no leaks. One area which may seem a bit intimidating is disconnecting the old resonator from the rubber mounts. This is best accomplished by using a bit of oil or grease on the area where the "shaft" and knobed end go through the rubber mount. This will help ease them off. If that fails, hack saw the knobed end off. Dont cut the rubber mount. The new part installs easily. Walker is the only company making these replacement parts. They are a good company with a good reputation for quality products. i don't expect this to last as long as the OEM but its not a new car. The OEM lasted 10 years and 150,000 miles. My only wish is that walker would make separate pipes and resonator and muffler, instead of having them welded together as a unit. The fact is that the PIPES where what was causing the problem. The muffler and resonator were still in great shape. Fortunately the cost for the complete units is not too bad when you buy them here on Amazon. These are the same parts that would be used by a muffler shop, since walker is the only replacement. If you can do the work yourself, you will save quite a bit. ... show more

  • Not as easy as it seemed.
I bought this resonator to replace my 2006 Scion xB resonator. I also replaced my muffler with a Walker SS muffler and a new gasket/clamp. The biggest part of the job was getting the old parts off of the vehicle. I had to cut the knobs off of the hanging OE backets. There are two on the OE muffler and resonator. I used a reciprocating saw to cut the old resonator off behind the catalytic convertor. From the reviews I read, I assumed that all of the new Walker replacement parts would fit together and bolt on in 20-30 minutes. It took about 3 times that. First off, I expected the Walker resonator to fit easily onto the 2" OD exhaust pipe behind the cat. It didn't! They were basically the same size. I had to expand the resonator inlet pipe enough to get it to go onto the original exhaust. The tool to do this cost almost as much as the Walker part. I was able to do this manually with much effort. I ended the job by attaching the muffler to the resonator outlet. The two parts with the gasket did not want to go together as tight as the OE parts did originally. It was a pain trying to get them clamped. I did get everything together in the end and noticed no exhaust leaks. I saved a lot of money by doing this myself but, this should have been easier. I should not have been such a pain to assemble the parts and attach onto the exhaust system. ... show more

  • Walker resonator for 2004 Scion XB
I use this resonator to replace the old original Toyota resonator. All because I had the usually symptoms of a bad exhaust resonator. On arrival (no damages) the new resonator intake pipe have 2 -1/8" OD that will fit to my original pipe size 2" OD. The output pipe of the resonator end, go into the muffler connection with a gasket (need to buy separately). The Walker cylinder resonator is smaller than the original Toyota. After installation I find that the rattling noise is lower to an acceptable value. The extra 2 inches missing in diameter of the middle cylinder play a big difference in the exhaust noise. The resonator input was welded to the down stream catalitic converter. The output of the resonator pipe was install with a walker clamp. The installation price was one hundred, and took about 20 minutes (from start to end) in a generic/local car garage (New Jersey). What I learn from this experience? Do not go cheap get the right size for the resonator cylinder, to get low noise of rattling. I put 4 stars because in the description the seller not put the pipe sizes, or the cylinder sizes, not say about the noise of this resonator compared with the Toyota resonator, and it is not a label or sticker to say what is the country of origin? ... show more

  • Great fit, accurate direct replacement.
I purchased this for my 2006 Scion XB. It was direct bolt in when used with the Walker 53613 Ultra Import Converter - Non-CARB Compliant Otherwise you will have to cut the factory exhaust to slip fit this in the factory catalyst. I used the 2 of Walker Exhaust 35335 Hrdwr-Clmp clamp to seal both halves. The arms for the exhaust hangers are in the correct places and the bends were accurate. I also used the gasket Walker 31577 Exhaust Gasket the clamp Walker 36519 Exhaust Clamp to connect to the muffler Walker 54602 Quiet-Flow Stainless Steel Muffler Assembly ... show more
